Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Both players we have traded for were higher picks in supposedly stronger drafts and have a few years experience. They are much more known quantities than picks taken around 30 in a weak draft....
Well said.

Well, at least we kept some good will with West Coast in this whole deal....
No small thing.

....PORT smashed the Eagles on this deal ....
Hopefully not, but it is always going to be a risk drafting someone so deeply connected with another club.

....The trick in this year's draft is to be patient and hold marginal value players for one more year. There is little sense in trading in too many risky high end draft picks, only to have to de-list them in a year or two. Have faith in your prior drafted players and work harder to assist them to reach their true potential. Next year's draft will be a better draft to load up more young players.
Well said.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

didnt we just get ebert for krak take that every day thanks

I thought we got simon Phillips for krak and ebert is our reward for getting less than 16 premiership points this year

Don't believe half the crap you read on this board.
Ebert will be a great player for Port.
Played out of position at the Eagles.
My tip is he will captain Port one day.
Be happy, you got a steal.

I don't know why we'd be getting 51 in the deal. We won't use it except to upgrade Hams.

Saw this elsewhere on your board, it looks about right.

Reckon you'll get 45 and Dogs 49.

Correct - otherwise it could have been done as three separate trades:

Ebert for 28

Chad/Dean for 49

Hill for 45

correct 100%

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

In fact we effectively got Simon Phillips AND Ben Newton for Krakouer.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Considering we took Newton and Young consecutively, it'd probably be more accurate to say we got Young, since he's the one who we wouldn't have picked if we'd only had one pick. That said, I would've taken a bag of chips for Krakouer.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Brad Ebert (born 2 April 1990) is an Australian Rules football player currently playing for the West Coast Eagles. Playing mainly as an inside midfielder, Ebert is known for his strong attack on the ball, strength in marking contests and standing at 188 cm he is also known for his versatility. Comparisons in playing style have been drawn to Essendon champion, James Hird, who Ebert has also recognised as his favourite and most admired player.

Taken at pick 13 in the 2007 AFL National Draft by the West Coast Eagles, this selection caused some controversy[1] in South Australia as Ebert was widely expected to be recruited by the Adelaide Crows who instead recruited Victorian youngster Patrick Dangerfield.

A distinctive feature of Brad Ebert is his leadership and Character, Brad captained South Australia in the 2007 U18 championships where he was also named in the All Australian team.

Former Brisbane Lions premiership captain and current AIS coach Michael Voss has also endorsed Ebert's leadership potential;

"I have no hesitation in saying that Brad Ebert has all the credentials to eventually captain a club, Voss said.

"He should certainly be a quality leader around any club. He has all the credentials to be a fine player and leader.[2]

Ebert was recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, the same club that Father Craig, Cousin Brett Ebert (Currently playing for the Port Adelaide Power in the AFL) and AFL hall of fame inductee and 4 time Magarey Medalist Uncle Russell Ebert.

Brad made his debut for the Port Magpies in round 8 of 2007 against Norwood; Ebert went on to play 4 more games and average 19 disposals per game.[3]

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Haha what?? The Dogs should be happy for ANYTHING for Hill. He'll be delisted next year.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

****ing lol at the Bulldogs. That's like us pulling out of a deal because we weren't happy with the pick offered for Pettigrew. And if the pick was a late second/early third rounder as it probably was, then ****ING LOL at the Bulldogs.

Lol I nearly got laughed off their board last year as I accused him of being a spud :)

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

I didn't even see this thread yesterday, was at the United game and was shocked I didn't hear about it. Nothing official yet though?

Anyway, pick 28 is fair. Wish it was 33 for shit happens. Decent trade week for us, nothing amazing though

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Why has Armstrong for Johnston been officially announced but this trade hasn't?

Rhode said it's done but paperwork may have to wait till Monday

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Done without Hill.

The deal sending West Coast's Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide and Power pair Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan to GWS may not be finalised until tomorrow, but the three clubs have come to an arrangement, as touted in Friday's Age, that will likely see Port gain Ebert and pick 45 and the Eagles take Port's pick 28 and GWS's pick 49. The Western Bulldogs opted out of a deal with GWS, West Coast and the Power that would have sent Josh Hill to the Eagles. The Dogs wanted pick 45 instead of 49.
