Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

As TSW alluded to, both Ebo and Renouf's salary packages would've been negotiated prior to trades being done and the actual contracts being signed. If I had to guess I'd say he'd be worth somewhere in the $225k-$300k region, especially as WCE would've gone at him in a manner not dissimilar to Walsh.

Logically, we've gone from 92.5% of the cap to the full hunge - and we've also delisted Chad who would've been on solid coin (vet or not) and Dean. Dom and Kane will be halving their cap pressure either this year or next which gives a bit more room to backend deals, too.

Sure we had to pay a bit more to Butcher and Trengove than we probably would've liked at this juncture, but where do you have the rest of the money going?

If we do in fact have to pay %100 sc i'd hope we front loaded a lot of the new contracts so we have cash next year when free agency comes in.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Marc Lock thanks

Tribey I just can't see how we can resign Trengove,Butcher,Carlile and Lobbe using only 6-7% of the salary cap

Don't think Renouf would be on a lot, Ebert i hope is on more i just wasn't sure.

We aren't using 6 to 7% of the salary cap. We are using a combination of what ever their previous contract was plus some portion of the extra 6 to 7 % we weren't using plus some proportion of the as yet to be decide increased salary cap plus we have available the salary of our retirees and delistees available as DT pointed out.

Fair enough, just puts some pressure on the Salary cap for once

- 2012 salary cap is $8.8m, up from $8.2m (+$600k)
- We're going from 92.5% to 100% (+$660k)
- Chad and Dean gone (+$300k-$400k?? [vets cap pressure])
- Dom onto Vets list (+$150-200k??)

I can't see how we'd have gotten close to eating all that purely in raises... aka what Relativity said.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Deal has been done apparently. Paperwork lodged.

we traded Cornes/Brogan and #69 to GWS for #49

#28 and 49 traded to West Coast for Ebert and #45

So
In: Ebert, #45
Out: Cornes/Brogan, #28, #69

Never knew about the bigger salary cap

But still Butcher would be on 300k, Lobbe 250k Carlile 250k Trengove 300k Moore 200k Pittard 200k

Thats a fair bit of money, but still great to hear there is still room

Great news that it is official!
Expectations of Brad next year?

Re: Ebert trade officially done!

Ebert and 45 to Port

28 and 49 to WCE.

Welcome back Brad.

The full details from a port perspective are:

IN
Ebert and 45 to Port

OUT
28 to WC
Brogan, Crones, and 69 to GWS

(I doubt we were going to use 69)

Very happy with this, out number one objective should always be improving our list and this off season we have added two players under the age of 24, both of which in areas we needed improved and with good sized bodies. Picks 28 and 33 are speculative picks and we have traded for two who have performed at this level already! I am over the moon that the worst performing side for most of the year was an appealing destination for two young AFL footballers.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

So what it comes down to is:

In: Ebert, Renouf & 45
Out: 28, 33 & 69

Not bad.

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Should be top5 at least

More interested too see what affect this has on Brett

If we don't play him in the middle:mad:

Re: Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide

Just looked at GWS picks. I am astounded at the number of picks they have. Clubs have really opted to sit out this years draft. We have 6 and after that only Brisbane have a pick in the top 10.

It looks like clubs do not rate this draft and haven't minded trading away their picks. Picks 28 and 33 may not be much better than 45 and 51 so we may even get the same player we would have picked because there seems to be less standouts than any year I can remember.

Good results and we still have pick 6 to draft one of the few half dozen standouts.

“Ever since he was drafted, we kept up contact with Brad and have maintained an interest in getting him to Port Adelaide,” Rohde said."
...
“As far as we were concerned earlier in the year, Chad and Broges had retired,” Rohde said.

“So when it became known to us their careers might be extended, it was in Port Adelaide’s interests to fight for whatever we could get in return.

Not the best of quotes.
Some things are best not said and kept in house.

The Dogs caved on pick 49 for Hill and GWS traded #69 to the Lions for Power.

Does that make it a 5 club trade? ;)

*edit* Brisbane might use 69 to trade in Ben Hudson. 6 clubs!
