I think the ND and the PSD will have around 25 experienced AFL players on offer. I can't think of a post season when more have been on offer. Carlton were interested in a KPP and a MF with the Fev trade #1. In the end we got a KPP and a 1st round draft pick. I don't think we can assume anything from a PSD where we have #10. So depending on circumstances we should pick the best available player for Carlton. That might be another rookie.

West Coast, St Kilda and Hawthorn have not delisted any players.

Others worth considering Shirley, Harding, Macdonald, Roe, Bradshaw, Tenace, Robertson, Harris, Brown and Coughlan.

Robertson's stats compared to Bradshaw

DOB: 24/11/78 - 21/11/78
Height: 187 - 191
Weight: 91 - 95
Career: 228 games - 222
Goals: 428 - 496
Season 13 games/29 goals - 21/58

If Bradshaw nominates for the draft and ends up with another team I think Robertson would be a quality replacement.:thumbsu:

Ah excuse me for my ignorance but could he fit onto our veterans list?

i can see this all unfolding so well for Carlton. I thought we won the prior deal for Fevola but then

1. Fev might be banned for x amount of games next year
2. Bradshaw walked out

now we have drilled them sideways. Swann will get this done. This is Carlton of old stuff i love it.

:)

Whether he'd be a good fit at the Blues remains to be seen (and could be a moot point) but as to IF they want him, you'd reckon if they were willing to take him as part of the Fev trade for him (which they were) then they'll want him if they can get him.

The wheels will be in motion, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Bradshaw is unselfish and can actually show young players how to go about positioning, leading and so forth. How to act on and off the field. He is still playing at a high level and is versatile.

Robbo on the other hand has been cracking the sads onfield for quite a while and put in some pathetic efforts in the VFL. Form has been poor and does not set the right example on field. Plays extravagent me first football that sets the wrong example and his body is shot. Only ever has 1 go at the football these days and his last 2nd effort might have been 2 years ago.

I might get 1 to 2 years of quality out and the other might get 1 to 2 games of banality.

I think you're a bit harsh on Robbo. I can recall many games where he has turned it on against Carlton. The last game against Carlton was a perfect example. 14 possessions, 9 marks and 5 goals. I think you're way off the mark with your criticism.

It was a meaningless touch football game when the result was a foregone conclusion. The game was open and little defensive pressure and he played on Anderson. He is finished now.

He is not allowed (under any circumstances) to nominate a club now. He could only do that during trade week by asking his club to arrange a trade to another club of his choice. Now that trade week is done, and it all comes down to order of picks, he cannot scare other clubs off by telling them he does not prefer to go there. His only tool is to set a price that he thinks might price him out of reach of clubs he might not want to go to but if that club stumps up his asking price he has to go there.

He also cannot put himself into the PSD or ND and then retire if he does not get selected by a club he is happy with, in fact if he is available when Brisbane have a selection in the draft he is nominated in they are within their rights to redraft him if they will meet his price. Whilst it has never been tested, I believe a club backed by the AFL would sue for breach of contract (entering a draft is a contract to go to the team that selects you provided they meet your published salary and contract length demands) should a player ever retire upon being selected.

Correct me if i am wrong, i'm just going on what i remember at the time but when Fraser Gehrig retired then decided to come back didnt he just say "I only want to play for St. Kilda" and every other club steered away from him in the ND, and the saints got for a pick in the 60's???

Cant Bradshaw do something like that aswell?

I certainly think you're opinion of Robertson is way off the mark. However you're entitled to have it.

All for one and one for all. Go Blues.
