Funny how he looks like he’s done a good job when the playing group bring effort and the game plan clicks.

Whilst it’s reasonable to question all aspects of the club, the critics need to be consistent.

Phillips, Powell, Ford, Bergman, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Drury, CCJ all looked like big ticks yesterday.
One reasonable game and it’s a tick? Wardlaw and Sheezel were hardly speculative picks and what we paid for CCJ was laughable. 90 percent of the time he has looked terrible for us as well. He is just too slow and lumbering to ever be a consistent threat. You are really looking at things with rose coloured glasses if you’re using one game as evidence to justify Rawlings but conveniently ignore every other game.

I have said it once, and I will say it again. Rawlings isn't to blame for what has happened.

We have very few players from the Joyce era firing on all cylinders and we're now being carried by what Rawlings brought across. It's the 2015 draft and before that which has ****ed us. This has, and will continue to be the issue until we get more talent in whether it may be mature or young.
Excellent post. I couldn't agree more.

Ha ha

Will bookmark this and bring it up at round 6 next year 🤣

So wardlaw vs hunter Clark and phillipou

I really hope wardlaw becomes a star cos there’s a lot we could have done with his pick and he will also be compared with jhf a lot as the pick we got for Judas along with ports first
I’m comfortable the right decision was made on this front!

Tbh we're being carried by LDU, Larkey, Zurhaar, Jy, Ziebs, Sheez, Shiels, Goldy, Log.

Two of those were brought in by Brady.

I love some of our recent draftees but it's a stretch to say they're carrying us this season.

Come on AC - you have to know when other posters are taking the piss.

No one is saying that Ford, Phillips, Drury, Powell, Bergman and CCJ are big ticks on the basis of one game against ordinary opposition.

Didn’t mean to hit a sore spot. Just pointing out that perhaps our list management and recruiting over the last 3-4 years hasn’t been as bad as often spouted on here…

Sure mate. I hope I’m wrong so would be happy if there’s genuine need for you to do so.
Will be a ge

The talent you bring in will only excel if you have the right development programs in place, and we have been struggling in that area for at least 5-10 years.

The kids we have selected in the draft are amongst the best in the land, but we haven't given them the opportunities to prove themselves on the field, because we haven't provided them the necessary resources off the field to develop into the players they should become.

That's not on Brady, that's on Buckley, Dilena and Amafio for either employing the wrong coaches or not providing our coaches with the necessary resources.

Hopefully the changes that Dr Hood and now Jen Watt have been bringing in, we will see our fortunes change and our young draftee will begin to shine.

But time will tell.

List balance is s**t
Lack of developing KPF , wingers , small forwards
He's had three drafts and when he got here we had no young mids either.

In that time we've brought in three KPFs, with varying levels of success.

Turn it up Psicosi. One game. One game and all of a sudden you’re cranking on about how Rawling has done a “good job”. This clown was brought back to the club as Football Manager. Wasn’t able to cope. Had his role split and then was demoted to List Manager. Corr 5 year deal under his watch. Stupid! McDonald signed to a 5 year deal. Stupid! Botched the Brown trade Stupid! Cut the list too deep after the Hub which since has been acknowledged by Viney and Co. Stupid! CCJ for a future second in essence. Stupid! A dumb price to pay for an unproven 9 gamer 4 years in the system. Mid season draft botches. Newcombe and Johnson overlooked for Edward. Stupid! Traded a First Rounder for Melbourne’s Future First. Stupid! Cost us either Serong or Pickett and a year of development. Traded JHF for unders. Pick 3 and Ports Future First which will be something like 15 or 16 at best. Stupid! Not only did we lose a number 1 pick player. We lost a year of development. We had a desperate Port wanting to do a trade but could only manage that deal? Please. And this all off the top of my head. No doubt others can think of the other stupid drafting and trading nonsense that has occurred under his watch. This clown along with Claytons need to be shown the door. :stern look

What would you have done?

And what outcome would you rather going into the Pies game, Wardlaw where he is right now after one game, or JHF where he'd have been if he'd stayed, cos no way he's playing like that for us. Even if we end up with Reid or some equivalent next season that's two years development lost when JHF goes. Instead of one cos he left early.

There are other intangible benefits too, like having two guys who consider each other the best player from their draft year playing together from the start of their career. Rowell and Anderson have both been excellent for the Gold Coast and this is the fiurst real opportunity since to get a similar outcome - ie the two best kids in the draft, who've known each other since they were young, and think the other kid is the best kid they've played against, playing together from the start of their careers.

That could provide a huge benefit to the side in terms of stability and belief. As well as the obvious injection of talent.

So given that where would you rather be right now. Where we are or with an unhappy JHF who everyone knows is leaving at the end of the year.

WE get the same first pick from Port for him either way this year.

Port could have said "**** it, we'll wait and you can have our first next year." There's nothing we can do about it. I'd do that in their position and I'll bet you would too given how hard arse you expect these trades to be. JHF will be a gun for years. One season won't hurt them. So we could have had their first this year and that's it.

Instead we got that and George Wardlaw. Who looks as good a player as JHF if not better, and tho not exactly the same very similar player types.

Sometimes you need to credit people with what they salvage from a situation that could have been so much worse, not what you think would be the ideal outcome.

“Good job”… “cranking”…

Wtf?

If you’re going to disagree with me at least quote me correctly.

Brady's relationship with the Eagles is going to be very handy if and when the Eagles look to trade out again.

I don't think we should be going anywhere near this trade tbh.

We are in a good position ourselves, we don't need to be paying a kings ransom for Reid.

1 player isn't going to fix us, we need 4-5.

If anything I'd like us to get another top 10 pick via GC.

I guarantee you their request will be #2 & F1, i doubt they would even do #2 and the Port pick.
