If I was Jarrad Redden, I'd have my manager asking for a trade right now.

All the best Brent. :thumbsu:

Very mobile, great tank, can clunk a contested mark and a fierce competitor.

BUT Not a great #1 ruckman, poor decision maker and terrible kick.

My thoughts are: he IS young, and hence can develop those weaknesses..

Thing is, those strengths all need to be qualified with -for a ruckman (except pack marking, he's just good at crashing into packs). IMO, he's not very good in the ruck though. A lot of those contested marks end up being turned right back over. I kinda hope he has a breakout year and you guys get value out of him.

In this particular draft, 33 is probably about right.

Looks to be a fair value trade - there's plenty of scope for improvement in Renouf and Lobbe will now have far more support which is a big plus. Takes the pressure off Redden which should allow him to focus on his development then start pushing for selection giving us some long overdue healthy ruck competition.

If I was Westhoff I would be crapping my pants.

Redden will be fine, they obviously think he's two years away.

You've brent us over with that trade guys, well done. Not happy at all with that. He may not be the new Simon Madden, but he'll give his all for your club and be a good servant.

Renouf is a real trier. He will do his best all the time. Isn't shy of physical contact and will crash and fail and then trry again.

Look he is 23 and will get a bit better. But Lobbe is your 1st ruck.

So looking at the numbers -
Renouf as a back ruck for Pick 33 and Maric as a 1st ruck for Pick 37.

Hmmm. So if we trade pick 28 for Ebert, we get two players who aren't addressing our biggest weakness of a lack of quality midfielders and only have pick 6 before pick 51? I wouldn't know him from Adam, but unless he turns into a great ruckman the lost opportunity to improve our list, that the draft is shaping up to be with our remaining picks is going to bite us long term.

Sounds like the ruckmans version of Tom Logan.

Crapping his pants about having a new 3 year deal?
Yeah, exactly. He's what worried he's going to be traded next year if Renouf does well and keeps him out of the team? Wooo, if that occurred he'd have depreciated to be a 3rd round pick from another club and we'd probably be paying part of his salary at his new club to boot.

One thing trading for an experienced ruckman has shown is either:
a) the signing of Westhoff to such a long contract was a massive mistake
b) they signed him and then thought about the lists balance and decided we need a ruck. Showing no forward planning.
c) both of the above.

I'll lock in option c) Eddie.

I think we got the best available ruckman. Hopefully we can do with him what Sydney did with Mumford.

He's still young and is no where near his prime. Good pick up.

I am guessing delisted.

I always thought that he was still a required player at Hawthorn given our history with injuries. He's got great endurance for a ruckman, just needs to work on his skills and tapwork which he still has time on.

Could still be a very good player for Port. Good luck to Soozie in his new home!
