This ain't going to happen, they would be better merging with a struggling local team ie Kedron or Zillmere who at least has some facilities and build from there, I can see us being 5 years down the track in the same position

Pretty clear the training centre will be happening in Springfield. The only question is whether we get a grandstand to allow AFLW games out there or if they're stuck out at whatsitsplace.

Sorry ladies, but it’s time to get something happening. We need this for our principal reason for being in the AFL to become relevant again.

If they can't get the grandstand or hold a woman's game why bother putting out players in the sticks where it's about 5 degrees hotter in summer with no breeze. We really need to think more short term while we reduce the 12 million dollar debt and start winning games. Then we may have a better chance at funding. A place like Morningside would be ok for the women's games as at least it is leafy and provides some natural shade.

While we maintain our facilities at the Gabba, you can keep adding 2 million dollars a year to that existing debt. Springfield is our path to both elite facilities AND financial viability.

And a shit surface and minimal parking.

The problem is that the club thought short term for about ten years. We're now years and years behind the eight ball. And as TBD mentioned, Springfield is all about reducing debt - the quicker we stop paying ridiculous amounts for not much with our lease of admin and training facilities at the Gabba the better. If you look at our losses each year, they are frequently less than the cost of being hosted (not games) at the Gabba,

1. With all due respect, everything you propose has been discussed ad nauseam, and none of it is on the table as a possibility, for a bazillion reasons already covered.
2. The only way we'll be reducing debt, is with a move to Springfield.

I guess we have your word for that, but if there is any semblance of truth to it, I suspect they will have reneged on public commitment/announcement rather than actual in principal agreement, but I'll do my own digging after Xmas.
Look over my history here.... I have never made a claim about inside knowledge on anything.
I wouldn't waste my time..... This has come from from a source that has 1st person access to a number of the ALP cabinet.
They mentioned it in passing over a business lunch as we discussed the election result. When I questioned it...... He/she said Sssshhhhhh. I shouldnt of said that to you. He/she was tippsy to say the least.

I was burning inside.

Doesn't have many/any friends in government.;)

He seems to have done well enough lobbying for Adani, maybe now that Evan Moorehead is stepping down as Labor State Secretary we can go for him as an "expert appointment" then.

Servicing the train station. Much needed.

This about proves the rationale for moving to what is the fastest growing mini-region in the State.

Drive past the Richlands Station car park any week day, and Darra for that matter, and see for yourself the huge volume of commuter cars parked anywhere. Springfield is no exception.

In 20 years the decision to move West will seem to have been made with great foresight.

If we keep pressing the "womens' sport" button eventually we'll be successful.

In the meantime, $15 or $30m is a pittance compared to the huge AFL dollars being poured [wasted] into the folly at GWS and the ongoing disaster at GC.

GWS already has 20000 members , has featured in some of the highest rating TV games of the past two years and if you take out the last final shocker have crowds equivalent to most nrl clubs already. Gold Coast actually have a decent following down here and if they could actually start winning some games would wipe the Titans out. They need to put a deadline on the state funding ie 31st dec as this could drag on for years and other possible alternatives could be overlooked
