So...this isn't dependant on Libs getting elected right? Because that's never going to happen lmao.

If I remember the mechanism correctly the money is coming out of an already budgeted pool of funds so it won't require any legislation. Assuming the grant terms are agreed to etc prior to the election being called there won't be any hitches with it.

FYI this is election-proof funding, not just an election commitment (otherwise they'd be announcing in a few months).

And even if it was just an election promise federal Labor would obviously match. When the federal Labor govt is (very likely) elected in May they obviously won't be reversing a commitment like this - especially since the Qld Labor govt have already committed long ago and the 12 month delay has essentially been due to the lack of movement from the federal govt.

So no need to be changing your vote either folks! The Reserve has cleared it's last hurdle towards becoming official.

Scott Morrison is one of the most astute prime minister's we've had in the last 6 months.

Knew he'd never let me down
Definitely in the top 2.

There seem to be mock-up images in that article that show that the setup has evolved considerably in terms of both of the addition of a second field and some more elaborate architecture and landscaping. This is really exciting if those are accurate.

So it looks like we are finally on our way, this from the CM this morning

Pissed off that this funding is being announced as a new commitment by Morrison, when it was supposedly committed 9 months ago. Typical of politicians to announce projects that have been in pipeline for ages, as part of their election campaigns.

Worse, that the club is jumping on the LNP campaign band wagon by running this as news as well... Gee, thanks Scott.
Even Mike Whiting is reporting this as some sort of coup.

I would have taken funding from Putin at this point. Politicians are gonna politick.

I feel the pain but you just got to remember that at the end of the day ‘the government’ gave the money and not any person or political party. The club and league just have to smile and say thank you so that the next time they get funded too. On a very small scale I’ve experienced this many time applying for grants.

It's one of the most positive and significant pieces of news for the club in the last decade. How were you expecting the club to report and announce it?? With a little jab at the LNP and a lamentation on the workings of the political machine?

Disappointed that it’s sold as being a home for the women’s side and not for the men . The article talked about Lions AFLW deo but didn’t mention the years of work swan and others have put in . Anyway good to see this finally happen
