I’m a nervous wreck

Even if Carlton goes hard early, not expecting them to hold on by Q3 and Q4.

At Gabba we'll roll them once we get going, so expecting a good win.

Have full faith in Darcy playing a role if he comes in. Easy to forget how good a defender he is when fit. He is finally fit.

He'll have a point to prove and did a good job even against Jeremy Cameron in the last final he played.

Darcy will go full-on junkyard dog mode if called up for this one.

The thing that has most impressed me in recent weeks since Melbourne is that every time a side has come at us, we've managed to quell it and since Adelaide, kick away again. These are good signs for a premiership capable team and at the Gabba against a banged up side, I trust our lads to do it again.

I think the Melbourne game was a genuine once off coaching error rather than losing our nerve.

I actually thought how we played the G that day bodes well for if we make a grand final. Our switching and ball movement was really good.

Application error IMO. We couldn't win a contest to save our lives in the second half of the last quarter

It would be a massive shame for Jack Payne to miss and it certainly throws up a selection conundrum. Fingers crossed everything works out for the best.

Brisbane have just won the flag and in a surprise to absolute no one, Gerard continues to refuse to place Brisbane in his top 2 seeds.

They just want Curnow to be uncertain about his opponent.
Payney will get up.

Gardiner has not played in the A grade all season. If Payne can walk, he plays.

Andrews > De Koning/Pittonet.
Payne/Gardiner > Curnow.
Joyce > McKay.

Froggy > Sub.

I don't think Lester has the athleticism to go with Curnow and too short for the other keys who play forward.

I don't expect this to happen, IMO Payne will play and we will make no changes, maybe we do start Lester on Curnow, just had a look at their heights and if you can believe footywire they are both 192cm... Curnow 92kg to Froggy 84kg though.

Smart, having a runner and some pace to inject into the game as sub

Remember we got blown off the park too in the first quarter and fought back and then some to dominate the game

Team Tips Brisbane Lions

Jack Payne
didn’t train last week due to an ankle injury that at one stage had him in a moonboot.
Training on Tuesday will prove telling in how he is tracking, but he would be a huge out given the return of Harry McKay for the Blues.

Darcy Gardiner has played just two senior games this season but was held out of the VFL game on the weekend in case Payne is unable to get up.

Jack Gunston has worked himself back to full fitness, but he may be an unlucky spectator given the effectiveness of the side’s forward line in recent weeks and more importantly in the qualifying final win over Port Adelaide.

Team Tips Carlton

It will be a tough selection committee for the Blues this week, with Harry McKay and Jack Martin certain inclusions from injury and suspension respectively.
Michael Voss would be loathe to make too many changes to a winning formula, so Jack Silvagni will again likely be left out of the starting 22.

Matt Kennedy and Jesse Motlop essentially replaced McKay and Martin for the win over Melbourne. Kennedy kicked 1.2 and Motlop kicked two goals, so they would be stiff to miss out. Maybe David Cuningham, who was subbed out against the Demons, or Matt Owies could make way?

The Blues could take one less defender in. Eric Hipwood is a likely matchup for Caleb Marchbank, which could mean Brodie Kemp is one of the unlucky outs, likely between him and Alex Cincotta.

The Blues have the toughest calls at selection to make of any team this week.

Sam Docherty and Blake Acres were sore after a bruising encounter on Friday night, but both are still expected to be lining up on Saturday evening.
