Parkdale by 140pts. Fantastic performance from Parkdale, unfortunately their fridge not as good as 2007. The new coach has clearly done a great job with this group. Will be very formidable in 2008. I think they thought they owed us one, but to belt us like that was a little bit over the top. We were aware our pre-season has not been ideal, but we believed we had a reasonable side for RD 1, the great thing for Rupppo is we have never been in this situation before as a club, we have a hell of alot of work to do and hopefully we can respond. It is great that footy is back though, our confidence will need a boost after today and what better way than coming up against Ajax in RD 2!!!!!!!

Yes King, the Vultures were outstanding today and have put together a very complete looking outfit. A great debut from young Boland with 9 goals; not bad for a 17 year old.

But you keep coming back to our wonderful site sniffing around. You will never see us on a Southern Site. Keep battling.

It's hard not to be underwhelmingly impressed by your powerful literary genious.

May I ask who the "great" frisky "Cat" is playing his own firebrand style of footy for in the SFL, because you sound like such a super talent, it would be indeed a privelege to come and watch you strut your stuff, or then again, pickling an onion might be just as fulfilling

Please also take time to check your spelling b4 your next post!!!! Otherwise go off to your rubbish Sth League and drink grog with the rest of the malaise!

Went to watch the Friars today and saw a very, very powerful unit in Ajax. They played hard, ran hard and were devastasting today. I will be interested to see if anyone else in c grade can deal with them this year, we weren't anywhere near it today!

Some very interesting results 2day rd 2 sure to be a cracker!

went to watch ajax v frais today as a neutral supporter.... Ajax were all class and should have won by 196 points.....just ran and ran all day.. will not lose on their own ground this year...

the very scary thing is, I was told Dukes and Ritterman (captain), their 2 best players didn't even play...

I have seen Dukes play for Port Melbourne and Williamstown, and he dominated in the VFL- imagine what he will do in the VAFA C grade...

Early on i would say Ajax and Ormond are the 2 teams to beat, and yes i know it is only round 1, but just my opinion

Enjoy your win, lefty i seen nothing that was heated, you flogged us. Talk about Parkdale, that guy is a legend at our club, at least we had a beer at your club after being told to p i s s off last year. Turn your fridge up or get those beers in the fridge earlier, poor show lefty.

Good first up win by the 'Monds. Mazenod were very ordinary after 1/2 time, but superior fitness showed by the 'Monds in the end, with an excellent last quarter.

Although Robbins kicked 5, was not a great game by him, but very handy when they go though post high from 60m.

Good influx of new players to the club too have certainly helped.

Looking forward to Rd 2 v Oakleigh

Poor form Lefteye. Came across Rupo 3 times last year, quality team, quality coaches, boisterous supporters(we all have them, Rupo's Hill a classic example), very hospitable to say the least. Show some humility in victory rather than posting that ill informed rubbish above. Do a bit of research, its hard, sorry, impossible, let alone against the rules to run a team & umpire at the same time. Look forward to catching up soon KB to renew acquaintances.

The Jackas are a very powerful unit indeed.

And just wait for the likes of Ritterman, Dukes, and Seidl to return.

Lookout C-Grade!

Do tell where and when you are playing your next game you literary genious.
I'd love to be there for the show- I need a good laugh after yesterday.

Ajax has so much depth this year.
Their Reserves had a 20+goal win and in addition to Ritterman, Dukes and Seidl missing this week, they still have other experienced Senior players out with injuries including Routman, Chester, Wolner ,White and Hershan..
It is early days yet but Ajax should perform well amongst the better teams this year in C Grade..

Ormond's reserves had a 20 goal win too, depth is at it's best at the Gunn this year. U/19 with a 25 goal win & the addition of a Club 18's this year will hold the club in good stead.

first of all i would like to welcome myself back.
secondly it was a good start to the season for the mighty brown and blue.
new coach, new game styles and good results, especially being it the 1st game of the season.
A few new players to watch out for which is good for the monds.
BTW robbins kicked 5 goals from about that many kicks, expect him to unleash in following rounds
Ormond to be a real contender this year.

Ya reckon:confused: I hope you're right. I only saw the first half and I thought the Nodders should have been 2 or 3 goals up. The Monders must have improved in the second half. From what I saw the side is still undersized and still heavily rely on the regulars - thought Digger and Marty kept them in it in the first half.

There were a few notable absentees like Millsy, but on what I saw they have a way to go to match it with the boys from Gerry Green.

Expect Matthew Robbins to get a Victorian call-up this year...but not for the C-D4 team, more likely the Senior (A-B) team to play AFL Sydney. If Robbins is not selected in the state side, there must be something wrong with the selectors. BTW, for those who attended last year's D1 Grand Final & last Saturday's Grand Final replay between Hampton Rovers & Oakleigh, what was the difference from last year GF to last week?

no idea but i'm guessing rob alexander waas playing this time...

Both Hampton & Oakleigh will struggle if thats the best they could produce on the weekend. The standard of play was pretty ordinary compared to the Ormond/Mazemnod game. Both sides will have to lift to be competetive with the top sides in this grade.
