CU,

If you read through the last few pages it seems Carey have about a dozen reg's out and had guns like Wigney, Collins, Heppell on the bench injured in 2nd half. Im guessing that wins over teams like Ormond away by 10 goals must be a better standard than D1 last year. They are 4-0.
Big Al will not play in 07.

Didn't Big Al play last week in the ressies and this week playing seniors??

Rupo to bounce back over reds
Parkdale over NOBS - Parky were excellent last week played very tough
Carey on the vast expanses will have too much run for Ormond
Camberwell by less then 5 goals against Monash
Friars narrowly over Nodders

Yes and not sure.

Surely you are not going to come down hard on your Monkey for making an incorrect prediction. We are 3/4's of the way through the season and he is yet to play ones. My call wasn't an absolute shocker.

But Monkey will learn to not trust ex Carey Grammarians who obviously spun me a line or were not really in the know. I am wrapped he is playing. Fondly remember his 4 goal last quarter heroics at the Wick while enjoying a burger or three in the GF of 2000.

There is more chance of Monash Blues being premiers than Dolly playing in 07. Trust me (and i know) Dolly will play rd 1 2008. He has done no proper rehab and it was at the upper end of knee recos. Not once has Dolly tried to side step at training. If he plays in 07, he will then not play again till 09. Big Footy is the place for rumours, but this one is way off the mark. My source is an Old Carey player who would not lie to a good friend, as he does not know of my monkeyboy activities.

monkey,
as I said at the time when u made this post... U R a 'Pecker'! made to look the fool by repeating second hand info from what is obviously an unreliable source! keep plugging away mate, one day u'll get some decent mail that turns out to be true.

The source was as deficient as it was actual. It was the message inside the message that was always the goal. Some games are best played cryptically while others are best played out on the field.
Thanks for your support!
Monkey.

Old Carey- Just over ormond! Uner 4 goals!
Mazenod- Safely over the Friars. 6 goals.
Parkdale- Only with home gound advantage. Under 3 goals!
Old Camberwell- Should dispach of Monash to the tune of 6 or 7 goals, No more!
Rupo- To stop the bleeding with a win over Roys. 8 Goals!

Good luck to all players!

Did'nt realise you had a patent on those particular words!

Footy is always about the players :D

Rupo to continue the downward (D Grade?) spiral for the Reds - Reds with nothing bar Davis & Meighen (Great dukes on the bloke!)
Ormond in a tight one over Carey
Camberwell to smash Monash
Parkdale over NOBS... just
Mazenod comfortably over the 'Friars

Ahh so Meighan has finally got jack of being pummelled from pillar to post every game since he started fresh out of U19s, and decided to hit back?

I'd love to be at the Brunswick Street Oval tomorrow to see Rupo take on Fitzroy Reds however I'm committed to u19s footy. The old VFL venues rekindle fond memories of seeing the Blues as a young child. But I digress. Rupo has a spring in its step that should see a big improvement tomorrow. It also has the captain's fate as an extra spur. Fitzroy will have to be good to make a game of it.

As Mike Williamson would say "Comments, Butch Gale." Butch, "I hate to say it, Rupo easily."

the Scribe has been a bit quiet - c'mon Frase please tell the Red that we are going to pull this one out of the fire.

Training on thursday will involve 6 Hail Marys and a dozen our fathers !!/QUOTE]

Frankly, last night involved a little bit more than the above for the Reds. Expect them to have more than just a spring in their step tomorrow.

This one is personal.

Rupo will win tomorrow.

Whitehead to kick 8 goals in an inspired effort on the old Fitzroy ground.:thumbsu:

I expect Burrowes to follow suit as well and rack up 30 plus possies.:thumbsu:

Fitzroy Reds have sacked their senior coach, he will finish tomorrow after the game. They have brought Burgin back in, what a big mistake.
You heard it first from Brian.

Wow. This week will be a Rupo 15 goal win then. Expect next week to be when a little more heart is shown. I cant see much effort from anyone tomorrow at redland if your mail is spot on BS, despite what the Scribe has forecast. After Pagan, Neal, Sheeds and Conno, there was always likely to be a another big name fall in footy circles! :p

Holy S%$# ! When did this occur ? I have heard rumblings that a few players were not happy but this is a bold move to make. Burgen back too will make things very interesting. The Reds had better hope he has the midas touch. What makes you think it's a mistake Brian ?

What a relief, rupo 25 pts down at 1/2 time, we are all thinking crikies are we in a slump or are we in huge trouble. You can only justify a slump for so long, finally after 10 pretty ordinary quarters after the break, the Rupo boys decided that things needed to change, 10 goals with the wind in an inspired display against a pretty committed Reds. Mark of the year by a Reds forward in the third quarter a highlight. If they have sacked their coach there definitely was not a lack of effort from their group. They are a pretty good side IMO very good midfield with McKay and co, and TDavis very impressive.

huge win for ormond today against a stong old carey
monders n mazenod to fight it out for 4th spot
rupo not in their best form coming into finals
thaughts?

What a sad situation for the club. A decision like this has no winners and I might add very little suport from anyone. Steve is a fine coach and had done a great job in difficult circumstances. Look at the mess he inherited on and off the field.

Oh, by the way who did he inherit the mess from? Why dont they bring back Butch Gale or Bill Stephen while they are at it?

The question is, where does it leave you scribe?

Easy answers here OTL, Steve's departure leaves me:

1. very sad, probably more upset than I've been in the last 16 years of VAFA footy.

2. still aiming to coach the 2nds into the finals, as we're still alive, and only a game out

3. wondering who got the license plate of the CHB from Rupo (#3?) who laid me out with apparently one of the better shirtfronts seen at BSO. Someone told me Meigho should've shepherded for me, but I'm sure the rock star did all he could in the circumstances. I can't remember much of the first half, but I (sadly) have total recall of the 10 goal to 1 Rupo onslaught in the 3rd term.

4. speaking to Burgs on Tuesday to work out how we will attack the last month of the senior season.

My reading is that Monash & NOBSPC are the sides we must hope continue to miss out on points. Might still mean we have to win the last 2 to stay up, but if Parkdale and Whitefriars are secure by the time we play them, it may be to our advantage.

My mail is this
1. He is an excellent coach and a great person
2. He was communicated completely by e-mail (gutless if this is the case)
3. He has battled with injury all year, (they have played 51 players)

Shame on you to the Reds administration, a club is defined by going through tough periods IMO, we have yet to go through a tough period but this time will be a defining moment for our future. To sack a bloke with 4 rounds to go and let him coach on the Saturday is laughable. The Reds had a pretty good crack, i believe they finally put a good side on the park and played an excellent first half. I have loved the passion of the posters from the Reds on this forum but they must be baffled as all of "C" Grade is. Good luck to Scribe who has conducted himself admirably in difficult circumstances.
