My mail is this
1. He is an excellent coach and a great person
2. He was communicated completely by e-mail (gutless if this is the case)
3. He has battled with injury all year, (they have played 51 players)

Shame on you to the Reds administration, a club is defined by going through tough periods IMO, we have yet to go through a tough period but this time will be a defining moment for our future. To sack a bloke with 4 rounds to go and let him coach on the Saturday is laughable. The Reds had a pretty good crack, i believe they finally put a good side on the park and played an excellent first half. I have loved the passion of the posters from the Reds on this forum but they must be baffled as all of "C" Grade is. Good luck to Scribe who has conducted himself admirably in difficult circumstances.

Thanks KB,

Just to clarify the above 3 points:

1. absolutely correct.

2. not the case, there were numerous phone calls and emails from both ends, and the situation which presented itself (upon which I simply won't elaborate) was very difficult for all concerned.

3. correct as well, but injuries must not be used as an excuse. Hopefully we will be able to look back on the season as one where we battled hard against that run and managed to avoid relegation.

We can only look forward now, and aim to serve up to Old Carey the same effort we did for three of the four quarters on Saturday.

Cheers and best of luck to Rupo for the remainder of the year.

Frase

How can you state a fact, and then ask "if this is the case" ? Suffice to say the Scribe is 100% in his replies and now we will just look forward to the last 4 weeks.

Kudos to the Rupertswood trainers who were onto Fraser immediately when he was flattened. It was right in front of the bench, but their swiftness should be commended.

Unfortunately I can't say the same for all the headbands in the Rupo side. We may have lost the game, but easily won the comedy war. Geordie's call to "let's get physical" and Litza's "get a kick Rambo", followed by "I hope you draw First Blood" were just two of the better calls of the day.

QUOTE]

Mail can quite possibly be not fact. Scribe cleared that up. Good luck to the Reds but i don't even know the ex-coach but i feel for him. 99% of coaches barring Malcolm Blight give their heart and soul to the players and the club.

Round 17 clash - Ormond vs Mazenod. Must win game for the Gunners if they are to finish 4th.
At present Mazenod have a 1 game and small % buffer. They have very winnable games against NOBS and Monash, with 50/50 games against Ormond away and Carey at Mazenod.
Ormond would fancy themselves against NOBS, but have 3 toughies against Camberwell, Ormond and the Vultures at the nest.
Big wins in the next 2 weeks for Mazenod over the struggling NOBS and Monash may see them set Ormond an impossible task of having to win all of there final 4 games to slip into 4th.
% chance of finishing 4th - Mazenod 88.64, Ormond 11.36

Mazenod have done incredibly well given the injury run they have had, having beaten the top two sides.

Must be the brilliant assistant coaches they have hey Monkey?

Conspiracy Theory Number #24. Whoever Monkey comments on, assume he is part of that club. Can't the Monkey just be a lover of all things Ammos?? Is that so bananas for you Mr Roll?

Ahh monkey! Yes a lover of all things ammo(except Brian ) by all means.

We all love your work

Based on more than one reference...you did say you were at Rupo mazenod a few weeks back, didn't you?

Seemed like a strange venue to go as purely a "lover of the vafa"!

Good to see the response by the reds 2nds was as positive as it was given the happenings of the week. Congrats to fraser, Im sure it was'nt an easy week for him! No doubt he conducted himself more than honerably.

It will be interesting to see which direction that 2nds group responds heading to finals with some tough games, seeing this result over rupo might suggest it will be a positive finish to the year. Can they go deep into the finals despite their club being in dissaray?

a penny for your thoughts!

Who gives a toss about reserves footy?

How will that help your club?

Maybe ask the 22 who lined up against a more favoured opposition on Saturday and won. It mattered a fair bit to them.

As for how Reserves help a club, I don't think you'd understand no matter how simply I put it !

Good call mappa! Yes 2nds footy is'nt as important as the seniors, however these blokes are still gonna have a crack and it means alot to them! Maybe some of those particular blokes wanted to prove something to the powers that be after a rough week. I say good on'em! By looks of things it rubbed of onto the senior group for the first half at least also!

Lets stop talking about reserves. It is a waste of everyones time.

No one will care( or remember) who won the reserves a week after it is over.

Quite true D grade! It was more a entire club attitude comment that i made than just focusing on the 2nds. From my experience often senior and reserve coaches have very close relationships which is vital to the day to day running of a successful club! This drama may have brought an underlying positive attitude in that club out. Evident in the performance of their 2nds.

I realize its all about the Seniors mate! What is your thoughts on the seniors comp d grade? Is it now looking like one team has broken away from the pack? Or is it still anyones to take? Make a stance mate! Give us all a pearl of wisdom!

Come on dgradedale!
The top 4-5 C grade reserves sides could probably take on the majority of D grade senior sides and give them a nice little touch up.

Dgrade,

I'm impressed - you've only been active on this website for 2 weeks, and in a grand total of 12 posts, you have proven yourself to be a complete idiot.

Most VAFA players will play reserves footy at some stage in their career, but the same cannot be said for senior debutants. In most clubs, the side which has the greatest number of participants is the 2nds. If anything, it's the soul of the club. Many clubs use the reserves as a mean to graduate U19s into senior footy, whilst others see it as a means to keep valued ex-senior players actively involved in the development of the club's young players. It exists for many reasons, and all of them are important.

I still recall the Mighty Uni Blues Twos belting Old Scotch at Sportscover Arena by 100 points in 2004 to cap off a 20-0 A reserve season, probably the strongest second 22 to ever grace a VAFA field.....and that's a good 3 years' after the fact.

From memory, I think the seniors won the flag in the late game.....

I remember the reserves winners of 1989 AFL GF.
I remember the reserves winners of the 1996 Western Oval match : Fitzroy v Richmond.
I remember the reserves winners of the 1996 MCG match : Richmond v Fitzroy.
I remember the reserves winners of the 1995 VAFA D GRade GF :D

The Reds reserves were very impressive. NO. 10 is a beauty in the ruck, i would say has probably played alot of senior footy. They did run out of legs but there first quarter was terrific, Rupo has a favorable draw and a good percentage, not convinced the Reds will take our spot.
The importance of reserves footy at any club is huge and the higher the grades the even more important it becomes.

KingBrown are your blokes out of that rut yet? It would seem as if your 3rd qtr might suggest this is the case!
We are hoping we will peak in about 4 weeks. Upsets will continue to happen, sides have evened up big time, we need to be on the ball each week. We need to improve from this week, our second half was a great turnaround.

As a Reds supporter, it is sad but true that the Club may not excist next year unless it gets some quality admins and releases all the former Uni Reds from position of responsibilities as it is9with due respect) beyond their capabilities to run a club above DGrade
