Cale Hooker = pick 25 + 26

But can't Hurley and Carlie take the monsters - with his run he would be good as a Gibson/Sam Fisher spare man/third man up. Run and carry has very good out of the back line a few years ago. His foot skills and decsion making is so much better than Hooker.

Well 2 go to school in Essendon so it did not take them long to work out who the enemy is and why. Except one is starting to turn being good friends with Scott Lucas little girl. There is a black sheep in every family.

Yes they can; my only concern is that Pears doesn't appear to be overly quick. The issue is not his skills.
When Fletcher is gone though, I can see there being room for Pears and Hardingham to both play a loose defensive intercept/rebound role. With Hooker playing a key role at Bendigo.

At least it's not Kyle Reimers' or Andrew Lovett's little girl, there'd be cause for more concern.

Has he lost some pace? - his runs out of the back line looked a decent speed. And Gibson/Fisher/Maxwell are not overly quick. Reading the play and knowing where to be is more important for these players. Hooker is a big chance to be squeezed out of best 22 next year. Only injury keeps him in IMO. Especially if Hurley goes back.

Perhaps he lost some confidence. Tentativeness could certainly slow someone down. If he can fulfill his potential it will be possible to deny him a spot in any case.
If Gumbleton doesn't fire, Hurley may stay forward, but otherwise Hooker is a goner.

Either Gumby or Daniher. I still get confused why Hurley is played forward. The difference between Hooker on Cloke and Hurley on Cloke was huge. Hurley played 2 very good game in 2012 - not enough value for his talent.

LOL - you think I have an Essendon alias?? Sorry to disappoint but 1 account is enough.

Not at all i just dont know why he would bother talking to you

Must be said that Hooker is in less best 22 sides this year on the essendon board with Hurley/Ryder being more prominent at CHB. However this really depends on the development of the best player from this draft in Daniher, he as a 202cm player will take that extra bit of time and we can hardly rely on Gumbleton, so fair chance Hooker plays down back and Hurley/Ryder are still required up forward. Thats why the club needed to keep him.

Certainly once JoeD starts to prove himself we will rely less and less on hooker, but thats an if.

Because he knows I am a gun and understand the game - the same reason why you engage me.

Hooker becomes depth - without injuries he will be forced out. Fletcher retiring may help him get another contract. 2 2nd round picks were a gift. I think WCE just panicked late. Everyone fit and in good form Hooker won't play.

Its strange that browne eye signed up yday as an essendon supporter and his 10 post have been in a one way convo with Mufassa

Haha Keystone, I can understand your concern. I've been following the forum for long enough to know that Mufassa likes to terrorise Bomber supporters and take threads horribly off topic for the sake of his attacks.
But this thread is about Essendon's backline and that is exactly what we're talking about!

I also doubt anyone other than an Essendon supporter would use Alex Browne as a feature in their screen name. ;)

They've tried Hurley forward because at his best he is a game changer (see vs Fremantle and Western Bulldogs). However he seems to perform more consistently down back. Hopefully he'll be allowed to settle there.

For his talent 2 good games is a waste. Actually 1 - dogs??? Come on. His hands are not good enough for Chf.

What a load of crap. He played full games on Cloke, Jack Riewoldt, Podisadly. Buddy was the only one to get a hold of him. He did play loose against teams like GWS with no real match up and also on Eddie Betts when the Blues played as small forward line. If you don't class Thompson as a KPD your understanding of the game is terrible. At least we agree he is a better player.

At least Hooker is a real KPD. He would walk right into Norths backline and be the number one defender while thompson buzzed arround his feet. Who else do you even have? Delisted the Delaney spuds yet?

Getting back onto topic.

Hooker got an offer of pick 25+ pick 26 which proves he has good value.
Mufassa is still here backpedalling because they spent months talking his trade value down.
Every post you make in here mufassa is just an attempt at deflection or back pedalling mufassa.

Glad you got a laugh at of me not being bald. Simple things hey??
you are lying anyway because as your previous account 'Kings Army' you posted your picture and you were a little short bald guy. Nothing wrong with that, sure it doesn't match up with your internet tough guy persona but you will get by. Judging by what you write I think most people would be suprised to find out that you are older than 12.

I strongly disagree with this.
We got offered overs because St Kilda desperately wanted Brown - Hooker was a logical sweetener and the Saints accordingly did what they could to get the deal done.
I think if they had have offered 25 or 26 on its own that still would have been a great deal.

West Coast had the player they wanted, how does that equate to panic?

You stupid nuffy - that picture was of Oracal69 after Ballarat won the BFL grand final. The Darley boys put it on as he was getting lippy. It worked as he disappeared very quickly after that and we didn't have to put up with his rubbish.

Thompson and Grima are much better and Hooker would play in Ballarat.

Go and jump onto your own team board - most have Hooker out of the best 22 and alot saw the offer as overs and should have taken it. If he is not in the best 22 at the 11th best team how does he get a game for a top 8 team?

Also can you please try to put my name in a sentance more times going forward?

Without Thompson & Firrito down back, Grima would be horribly exposed as would the rest of your backline.
Hooker is 24yrs old, by the time he's as mature as your blokes in 3 seasons time, he should really be able to at least match the not too lofty standards of that trio.

Thompson is your best def & is better than Hooker atm, luckily he's finally pulled his head in though, cause up until a few yrs ago Scotty D was basically an embarrassment to your jumper the way he scragged & carried on.

He would be Best 22 or thereabouts in Carlton (totally lack KPPs), St Kilda (likewise), North Melbourne (I personally do not rate Grima much higher than Hooker) and Fremantle (Dawson is an absolute spud). All of these teams finished higher than us. We just have a surplus of quality defenders.

He would probably be best 22-ish in 7 - 11 AFL clubs.

I wouldn't want to admit that was me either mufassa.
Let get the chit chat back to the football insteand of your George Costansa-esq appearance.
