Look at the eyes, the fixed stare of relentless determination.

The hair is f****** breathtaking. Some say it harks to the 1980s, but it goes back further than that, to a time when a bad day at work meant that you didn't get a chance to impale your enemies and turn their cities into ashes.

He's a Libran, and he's a left-footer, and he's here to remind you all that these are the elements for a superior specimen.

He looks indigenous.

He's been one of the few shining lights this season, i haven't really got him pegged as in what position he might play down the track, if i had to guess i'd say a flank either fwd or back.

Funny when he went back I knew he would kick it just like you know blokes like Brown will miss them.

Don't think much gets to this kid, let's just hope living with Crisp helps us keep him long term.

Really like him.

I told my wife he'd kick it. Just as I said Thomas would miss 5 minutes later.

Big fan of this guy. His ability to find the ball is already great for someone his age. Looks tough and doesn't let clangers phase him, just keeps cracking on in. Taller than you think at 192cm as well. Think he's going to be a bit of a beast when he puts some muscle on and already has the temperament for the top level. Seems like a hard worker and runs both ways as well so all big ticks.

He doesn’t live with Crisp, Crisp lives with him!

People debating his position. Said himself inside mid. I agree he will be. Doesn’t mind the contact. Goes the ball not the player. Has composure. As some have said will be able to spread with his kicking and damage that way also

So when are we going to accept that trading this years first rounder (would've been eaten up by Daicos) for Poulter and McMahon is looking like the right call?

Before you say we could've traded for a senior player well our Cap position shows this might not be the case until the end of 2022.
And before you say we could've traded to have a 2nd first rounder in 2022, that's true but there is no guarantee the kid would show as much as Poulter has and by that time Caleb will be into his third season of AFL footy. Look at the Freeman Schaz draft, anything can happen so Poulter already looks to have a higher ceiling than Phillips and is 7 years younger.

The kid has something special and am happy all things considered should get about 15 senior games this year which is a massive win for mine.

I think it is still too soon to label him something special.

The main strengths for the argument: he looks to play the wing role reasonably well, he looks to be a reasonable accumulator, he looks to be a reasonable kick 80% of the time.

The draw backs (hopefully many of these will get ironed out): he doesn't look to be a great runner (speed wise or endurance), he is still weak in the contest (not by intention, but mostly because he is very slight), and doesn't use his height aerially yet. Now all of these thing are things that can improve with training so that is a positive, but too early to say whether they will or not in my opinion.

You reckon? He seems to get back and defend, get forward and attack and be a key link man to me? Seems to have pretty good endurance for an 18yo. Not many can get 20 or so possies reasonably regularly.

Also technique in the context looks pretty good so I think it's a pretty good chance that turns into strong contested work as he gets older.

How about ' he has the strong potential to be something special?'
