THEY JUST DID.
Idiot.
Yes we need a ruckman and yes we went out and got one. If we could add an elite ruckman ready to contribute now that would be great but you can't just go out to the back yard, shake a tree and expect Dean Cox to fall out. Ottens will be 28 next year and King appears to be finished at 29. Cam Wood turns 21 next year and he's only going to get better. Rome wasn't built in a day.
jeez. good work palmer. you've got that bloke so confused that i think he's arguing with himself now. nice trade and i'm encouraged by the words from the lions supporters before this thread went to shit. there's obviously some people that have been watching the lions closely that rate wood and reckon we've picked up a player.
Travis Cloke (You might remember him, schooled your AA center half back the first time and was in our best in the final) Ben Reid, Chris Dawes, Sean Rusling, etc, which just goes to show your ignorance on our list. You remind me of the black knight in Monty Python, no arms and no legs and still yapping away. Yes you can go now, tail between your legs.Wood wont be the type you can swing into the forward line and I think you need that also. Rocca cant carry it. Cloke is better leading up the ground. Fraser isnt big enough and doesnt provide the contests up forward...
Can I go now...?
Seriously but, we have TOO MANY marking forwards. Rocca is the old bullocking one. Cloke is young turk with run and cheek. Rusling is the speedster. Reid is the up and coming versatile one with plenty of pace. Dawes is the up and coming big strong one with pace. Fraser then slots in if required and then we worry about balance and how many of Didak, Thomas, Davis and Medhurst spend how much time up forward with the big guys. Wood is 204cm. To say he won’t be in the mix as well is, well dumb.Wood wont be the type you can swing into the forward line and I think you need that also. Rocca cant carry it. The forward line is the absolute least of Collingwood’s concerns. The problem I have with ruck selections is that not enough attention is paid to pure ruckwork and too much to other roles the rucks might play.
At the end of the day will they win you a flag? IMO I dont think so...and recent history tends to agree with me.
How many do you want? Dawes will take his place all going well but Rocca is plenty in that role.Thank you...thats the point. Well said! A ruckman come forward with size would help. Rocca is not just the old bullocking one...he is the only bullocking one.
Rubbish. Cloke is only getting stronger and is a very good mark, contested and uncontested. He has the ability to play both roles. Chris Dawes is also a big contested marking forward in the Rocca mould.Thank you...thats the point. Well said! A ruckman come forward with size would help. Rocca is not just the old bullocking one...he is the only bullocking one.
He actually made his debut in 2006, so that is two seasons, which is not bad at all considering that Brisbane have Charman, McDonald and Leuenberger as well.Has played 16 games in 3 years.
He was a rising-star nomination this season, and he has averaged more possessions and hit-outs than Blake at the same age and stage of their careers.Averaged around 6 possessions a game. Blake gave him a bath in Round 22.
Prove it. A pre-season at the Lexus Centre should do wonders for his further development.Brisbane are the winner here!
A ruckman come forward? I want you to go away, read up on Josh Fraser and then come back with a description of what kind of player you think he is... actually, how bout you go away, read up on him, and we'll skip the you coming back bit. Super.Thank you...thats the point. Well said! A ruckman come forward with size would help. Rocca is not just the old bullocking one...he is the only bullocking one.

You've got to love 14 flagsYou've got to love the present and let go of the past...
You've got to love 14 flags
I agree also.Seriously...that sums my point up exactly. The longer you wait...the harder it will be...well said.
welcome to last month.I agree also.

While the West Adelaide draftee is enjoying life as a Magpie - after being traded by the Brisbane Lions last year - Wood has refused to rule out playing for Adelaide or Port Adelaide.
- COLLINGWOOD ruckman Cameron Wood says he would "never say never" to a South Australian homecoming.
"You can never say never," said Wood, who managed just 16 games in three seasons with the Lions.
"It was similar when I went to Brisbane, all I wanted to do was stay there forever. But at the moment I'm very happy with how things are going at Collingwood, and if that continues, I'm quite happy to stay here (Melbourne)."
The lanky 21-year-old has played 10 matches this season, his first living away from his mother Sue.
An Adelaide return would bring Wood closer to family, but the 204cm giant says if he can get used to the bitter cold in Melbourne, he will not have a problem.
"It's (climate) a bit different down here (Melbourne) to Brisbane," Wood said.
Port Adelaide, on the verge of a ruck revolution with Brendon Lade and Dean Brogan entering the final phases of their careers, will "keep an eye" on Wood's progress.
"He (Wood) said never say never. We're pretty much the same," Power operations manager Peter Rohde said.
"You always keep an eye on that sort of stuff, but at the moment we're committed with Broges and we've got Fabian Deluca coming through, as well as (Jon) Giles. So we've got a few ruck options to keep on working with."
Adelaide, which overlooked Wood in the 2004 national draft in preference for John Meesen (now at Melbourne), will keep its options open.
"He's (Wood) a good young player, we all know that, and you would think he will get better. As for the future, who knows?" operations manager John Reid said.
