I think WC can win. Collingwood aren't quite bleeding but they are wounded. Tarrant, Davis, Shaw, Maxwell, Thomas all either missing or underdone. Dawes, Wellingham, Didak all in ordinary form.
WC have 2 of the very best rucks in the comp, a very serviceable midfield group and defence + a multi-pronged, in form attack.
I think I might have a lazy $50 on WC to get up.
I'd think our 2006 team would beat our current side nine times out of ten. That's probably just me though...
now i'll just sit back and cop abuse for being arrogant filth
Nope, just the cracked fibula
Hard to imagine why anybody who saw the Eagles with a dominant ruck combination go down to the Pies by 50+ points last time would imagine they'd go better in a game of water polo. Go figure! In the ruck department last week, Darren Jolly looked like a 45yr old man, who is clearly underdone with Cameron Wood as a back up and Leigh Brown who is anything but a ruckman.
I'm very suprised Wood has been dropped and not even named as an EMG to cater against the almighty Cox/NN combo. Mick trying to play mind games during the week with their ruck combination.
Very happy with that result as an Eagles fan, and even happier Maxwell has been recalled who is underdone also.
Our '06 side would beat any current side 9 times out of 10.
I'd back 2011 us against 2006 you for more than 1 win in 10.

lol. So the only area you got beaten in was the only one that counts! Hope thet helps you sleep at night! The area that let us down against the pies last time was our entries into the forward 50, just bombed it into there every single time. The pies are awesome at rebounding so that's what really killed us. We matched them in every area except the score, so I think if we can actually kick to targets instead of just bombing the ball in then it'll be a closer result.

Yes I did but the comment was OT. The point I made was that it's unlikely that a ruck division which beat us in a game where we smashed you by 50+ points in the dry is going to be the deciding factor in a game where it's likely to be wet. Regardless of that, 50+ points is almost always an indicator of far more than just one side having an off day with their kicking but if it makes you happy then go with that. I would!did you even watch that game?
Statistically it was the only area we got beaten convincingly. You simply had better entry into your forward 50 and took your chances far better than we did.

Probably have to suggest pure class I guess. So if the forward entries are basically even and it's a 50 point margin what would you put it down to?
I think you'll find that the comment I responded to was about the superiority of your ruck combo and I'm also fairly confident you'll find most people reckon you dominated the ruck in that game.We didn't really dominate the ruck, ball was constantly going to your players.
Hopefully we have too!Anyway you beat us, but i think it will be much closer this week as we have improved a lot since that game. Should be a good game

What you've just said pretty much sums up what I have been getting at. Just because you can match another side in stats doesn't mean you can beat them. There are plenty of factors that are going to come into play and the fact that the score difference was so wide just proves that. If you get the same number of disposals as your opposition but they're all under pressure then the likelihood is they're not going to be as effective. Can't see where you're disagreeing with what I was saying actually! We didn't have an off day with kicking, it was poor decision making kicking into the f50. Obviously that's not the ony reason we lost by 50 points but it doesn't help the cause very much. We've had games this year where we've been behind in most stats but won by 50 points, that's due to efficiency and good decision making. Just goes to show how much stats can lie sometimes.
But if you want to interpret that as "OMG, pies are shit and didn't win last game, Eagles lost it. Pies out in straight sets!!!11!1!!1!" then be my guest
