"Clubs would be mad to not make that phone call to his representative right now with five days left in the period."

- Damian Barrett on Jake Riccardi if the Giants land Jake Stringer

If we could get him I would love him as our depth KPP. Plays both ends so you get 2 depth players in 1.

We were close to a test case with Jason Horne-Francis, it would have been interesting.
Yes, but on the law as it stands and the silence on the issue in the rules prima facie a step-son (unlike an adopted son they are not treated by the law as equal to a biological child) is not a son. Again you might try to make a argument that the purpose behind the rules being to facilitate children playing for their father's clubs and given (as I understand it) that he was only a pre-schooler when Fabian Francis became his step-father there is a pretty strong argument for being culturally a child of Francis, but that comes down to then the question of what the underlying purposes of father-son/daughter are bloodlines or identifying as a child of the father. As you say, would have been interesting.

The strongest case would be a child who has for all their life been raised as if the child of the ex-player (perhaps not even knowing they were not the biological child) and where the player was active at the the club for a long part of the child's recall and the child was around the club etc etc. My favourite scenario would be player X, who didn't play 110 games, has a fling with the partner of his (identical twin?) brother player Y producing star junior Z who is raised for all intents and purposes as if the child of Y - Z has the bloodlines as well as the cultural connection. But at law still not a child of the brother who played the 100 games.

If Houston gets to the Pies, plus Perryman, could you imagine them missing finals… the start to them sitting near the bottom of the ladder all the while Tasmania steal all the best kids… it’s coming, either 2025 or 2026 is going to be a massive slide imo

They will play finals with those 2 additions. Top 4 is theirs for the taking

How did Perryman go from being an average footballer (or maybe slightly above average) to world beater so quickly?

Is it because the Pies were silly enough to offer him $900k per year.?

Perryman IS a very good footballer (not $900k good by old scale, but well above “average”)

Agree both Perryman and Houston are very good footballers, they’ll strengthen their defense obviously, release Daicos to more midfield time and
Sidebottom must be very happy too.

Is he though? He's a solid citizen who does his job. 18 touches a game half back who doesn't create much offense. If he wasn't a free agent he'd struggle to get s $650k contract. Doesn't actually move the needle all that much.

WTF are we doing? i'm not seeing any improvement to our list or being proactive at all. Why are we letting Houston walk to Collingwood? FFS , do something.
Let Collingwood trade their future with no picks in a loaded draft to try sneak a premiership next year. If they don’t win it, they are beyond cooked. Their downfall will be Richmond-esque. Good luck to them
