Yet Freo had no interest in keeping him and only offered him peanuts as a salary
amzing how some players improve when they change clubs
They have plenty of young options coming through for that role and one club lowballing a player isn't unusual

He was literally the pick a AA wing spot at the half way point of the year before the hammy. Was clearly a top 5 winger in 2022. McLuggage, Langdon and Daicos probably the only three that were the same or better in that positionYet Freo had no interest in keeping him and only offered him peanuts as a salary

The poster I was replying to said that we had not improved the list - not anything to do with finals. Nevertheless, a switch from Newnes/Setterfield to Acres is a massive improvement to our best 22 and considering how close we were this year the change will give us a better chance of being a top 8 team in 23'Acres is a list improvement that will take you to finals?
Is it though? It’s improved from last year
We’ve added McStay and Hill, there are no superstars there but atleast we can play a better balanced forwardline. Is it though?

I highly doubt anybody rated him that highly including Carlton supporters prior to joining the blues , He is just an average player and hardly a match winner now at his 3rd club and neither of his prior clubs were desperate to keep him.He was literally the pick a AA wing spot at the half way point of the year before the hammy. Was clearly a top 5 winger in 2022. McLuggage, Langdon and Daicos probably the only three that were the same or better in that position
McStay copped a hiding but he’ll free up Mihocek a bit and he can crash packsWe’ve added McStay and Hill, there are no superstars there but atleast we can play a better balanced forwardline.
Well you finished a hares breath out of the 8. If he is the 'massive improvement' list example being declared here and now, is he not the difference between playing and not playing finals? The poster I was replying to said that we had not improved the list - not anything to do with finals. Yep.How have Carlton not improved their best 22/30. Their biggest deficiency was the wing and Acres was probably a top 5 or so wing in 2022. Didn't lose any significant pieces either...
Kind of loosely using the word ”interesting”Would be interesting to redo the poll on the eve of Round 1. Or even now.
In all fairness? I reckon the vote would reverse from 40/60 to 60/40.
Yeah, 12 options to rotate through the forward line capable of kicking 30 goals each surely can't work...Is it though?
I read the comments from other posters about all the players who can rotate through and “surprise” the opposition, but that to me just says that McRae doesn’t have any absolute standouts who’s output demands that they’re cemented into key spots, like Curnow and McKay at Carlton.
DeGowy would have to be your best forward option going forward, but he’s going to play a fair bit of midfield I’d think.
Mihocek and McStay as key forwards, with Cox or Cameron helping is arguably the worst group looking to play finals.
Markov didn't.Yet Freo had no interest in keeping him and only offered him peanuts as a salary

He's no Cincotta (or whatever his name is)Markov didn't.
No not all. Since when is the addition of one player the difference. If the 2023 goes exactly the same way as 2022 then yes maybe the difference. But we havento get better across the park to make the 8Well you finished a hares breath out of the 8. Only by 2 minutes..No not all. Since when is the addition of one player the difference. If the 2023 goes exactly the same way as 2022 then yes maybe the difference. But we havento get better across the park to make the 8
When did I say he was. I disagreed that we didnt improve our list. He is an improvement to the list but we need internal improvement to make the finalsYep.
Acres surely will be the difference...
The unfortunate thing for Carlton is there have been 6 other finals contenders materially improve their lists, who are also expecting internal improvement. When did I say he was. I disagreed that we didnt improve our list. He is an improvement to the list but we need internal improvement to make the finals
Groundbreaking logic right here. Imagine our suprise. When did I say he was. I disagreed that we didnt improve our list. He is an improvement to the list but we need internal improvement to make the finals
They’ll need to win 2 Brownlows and 3 Colemans next year?Groundbreaking logic right here. Imagine our suprise.
Might enable them to sneak into 8th.They’ll need to win 2 Brownlows and 3 Colemans next year?
He looks like yet another one they've picked up who can play a bit but is injury-prone, can guess what's going to happen here, by June we'll be hearing stuff like "..., and we haven't had Acres for 6 weeks, and..."Yep.
Acres surely will be the difference...
