Coach Carlton and Michael Voss - where to now

Easier said than done, but perhaps Carlton need to trade out a big name to free up salary cap space, and then trade in several good players to boost depth. Similar to Collingwood moving on Grundy and then using the freed up space to recruit Hill and McStay.

Was happy for him to get a 2nd chance, the industry is too quick to stamp papers on rookie coaches. Why can’t they develop & learn? He was favourite sonned into the role with none of the experience at Brisbane.

However it’s been clear for a long time now he’s just not that good a tactician. His plan A is great, I have no doubt he’s a fierce & inspiring leader, but the overall team style of play, decision making & direction is awful.

Maybe he has mellowed and tried to be too friendly with players? Do you reckon Justin Leppitsch or Darryl White gets away with their ears intact if they do just 1 of the 6 ****-ups Mitch McGovern does a game?

They just aren’t well drilled or disciplined. Especially in defence. Cowan kicks across goal in rushed kicks, McGovern thinks he’s Ronaldo, Haynes can’t keep his feet - basic ****ing Auskick level rules. They all get ball watching. If it wasn’t for Weitering the defence genuinely could get 20 goals a week on it.

He needs to go. Either they’re not listening to Voss, in which case he needs to go, or Voss doesn’t have any idea, in which case he needs to go.

Devil’s advocate - The intent was good. That probably comes from the coach. Tweak the game plan a teeny bit and Curnow gets fit….

I believe the teams that week in week out rely on motivational messaging are not the teams that go on to win flags. It might band you together late, but I feel like a lot of the intent shown Thursday is “backs to the wall” after a tough media week, and you can only yell at players to inspire them so much before it becomes stale & repetitive.

The game plan A is ok. The game plan B through D is shitful.

The game plan needs a big tweak. They can’t slow games down when they don’t have momentum, nor wrestle back control.

Agreed. Too much focus on the “stars”. But they need foot soldiers.

Well TDK is gone, frees up SC, and a band 1.
That's probably their worst option as he will just about be the best ruck in the league in years to come.

2025 nearing the end of the Voss era at the Blues.

on the slide see essendon.

They got the rebuild again sadly.

Top players getting alot older and slower.

Wheres the kids at lteast Collingwood have some kids that are coming through.

Methinks Voss will be gone seasons end.

Time for soul searching.

They are the same situation now as Essendon.

Dark times coming up for both.

2023 was its time.

Now all gone.

2025 hard times strike again.

At 11am this morning we were 200-1 to win the Wooden Spoon.

With the Eagles effort today and this North effort there has never been a better $10 investment.

Voss is a w***er and i cannot see who we get a win from with his current style.

Not like you to overstate things.
😂😂😂

Carlton vs Melbourne to decide the spoon. 😱😇😇😇
They looked worse than Carlton and Richmond
Demons will destroy the current Voss coached team.

Voss is cooked.

My 11 Carlton supporting friends wont reply to my text messages

Hope they are ok
You know that just pushing buttons on your oven doesn't send messages to your imaginary friends, yeah?

And why would he do that exactly?
Both he and his Dad have said they'll have conversations with both clubs and its a big decision.

He's likely going to the Blues for sure, but maybe Richmond can pull a rabbit of out the hat.

I think its too late for a club like them to go rebuild before Tassie. There looks to be 2 drafts left (ignoring any 17 year olds that might get pulled out early) so you have to go hard now to get in all the picks immediately. I think Carlton have already traded out of the start of this years draft so I think they have to go all in on the now.

Whether thats more trades for existing players or free agents to fix the list issues I dont know. But I feel its too late for a draft rebuild for clubs that arent already set up for it now like Richmond
I don't think it's too late for Carlton to rebuild. They can still get 4 or 5 kids in the national draft and nail a rookie pick or 2 .

I’d give him until the end of next season and contract to 2027. At some stage you need to stick with a coach and this is probably it for Carlton. He’s taken them further than anyone in the past 20 years
