Is it more likely than not that we will return to our home ground that actually gives us a winning edge?

Telstra Dome was a stupid idea, as Ian Collins just wanted to help himself as he was the Boss of Telstra Dome, should we go back to the ground that lead us to 16 premierships?

"Three stands - Harris, Heatley and Pratt - will be demolished at the ground as part of the redevelopment. No date has yet been set for completion of the work."

Even if we wanted to go back, the AFL would make it very tough for us to do so. Additionally, with probably 35k+ members going forward, PP is just not a big enough ground for us.

Search for the last time we discussed this topic. October I think.

We have left. We aren't going back. There are many financial reasons why this is so.

We need to move on.

so what use is there in redeveloping stands? surely we could play interstate teams at Carlton, and there would have to be more money to be made there compared to at telstra dome when we get 25,000 people when we play fremantle. Break even would have to be around 34,000 people at the Dome to make a profit.

Melbourne and the Kangaroos, even the Western Bulldogs, may need the ground to play the likes of West Coast, Fremantle, Port Adelaide.

Why would we want to come play at a stadium where we have never wanted to play in the past, managed by a club that has a history of trying to screw over any club that plays games there?

Your dreaming.

Because we need to spend millions to get the ground back up to AFL standard, just to play a few interstate games there. It makes no financial sense.

Is there any truth to the rumour that Collingwood's new VFL seconds team will be playing at princess park next year?

If so, how could we let this sacrilege happen?

Lets go to the MCG and leave Telstra Dome i think. Now that we are starting to field a competitive side, we will see a lot more people going to Carlton matches. Gotta get off tha crappy surface.
The best teams should play at tha best ground.
Maybe only play one or two games a year at Princess Park against interstate sides or games that won't draw huge crowds.
Btw, is Princess Park still called Princess Park, or is it still called that shocking name MC Labour Park, or Optus Oval???

No, because there is no such thing as Princess Park and that is not because what you're thinking of is now called MC Larbour Park either.

I couldn't care less what its called now. The fact that past administrations have r*ped the soul of the club to pay for debts that never should have been incurred in the first place is why the name is meaningless.

But if it's true that the filth and their ferals will be using OUR ground as their home enrages me. Why hasn't someone told them to F off and use that hovel at victoria park instead?

As much chance of Carlton going back to PP as there is of Chriss Judd playing for Collingwood next year.....

Would be a finanial disaster and undo much of the good work that has been done over the last couple of years. Won't happen under the esteemed leadearship of the Swann/Pratt regime.....

As much as I personally think moving back to Princes Park would be a fantastic idea- really giving us back our identity and turing us back into a powerhouse club- as long as Andrew Demetriou's (or any of his successors) arse points to the ground, there is no way we will ever be allowed to play there again (even though he also has an arse for a face).

A powerful Carlton is good for the AFL.

A very powerful Carlton is bad for the AFL. It could hurt their reputation as standover men.

No, it was a financial disaster to leave PP, by an adminstation too incompetant to make it work.

Tell me, have we really improved our financial position all that much as a result of leaving PP for the Toilet Dome?

other teams HATED going to play us at Princes Park. F*****g Collins and his conflict of interest. It'd be great to have the old ground back, although highly unlikely. I wouldn't mind if we moved to th G, we actually play decent footy there. We have NEVER played good football at Dome.

I agree. If we cannot play at our spiritual home then we should have A base and not split between the 2 grounds. The MCG should be it as the Telstra surface is still too suspect for player's joints.Collins screwed us that is for sure!

Definitely not feasible for the Blues to go back to Princes Park, but if we do eventually drop the 'ants and have our own affiliated Carlton VFL side, then it would be fantastic to see them play their home games at Princes Park...

Princes Park not Princess Park.

Can someone clarify this whole thing, what's the story behind 'Princess Park?'

The parklands that comprise both the football ground as well as the surrounds are called "Princes Park", as in the plural of the masculine word "Prince".

For the 1,000,000th time on this board it is not bloody "Princess Park" as in the feminine "Princess".

If you are too stupid to understand this you do not deserve to be a Carlton supporter and should hand in your membership and go and barrack for Ninth-mond or the Colliwobbles!

Unfortunately we will never play senior football again at our home:mad:

Its is not part of the development consideration. The new stands are more about the facilities inside than the are the seats on top:thumbsu: We were pushing for the re-use of PP as a ground to play interstate teams at earlier this year, but it ain't gonna happen! What we are doing instead is to have the Bullants play around 6 home games there!

Those stands will be demolished and replaced by facilities for training so capacity of ground will fall by half so how can games be played there?
