Carlton Blues eyeing Andrejs Everitt in trade deal with Bulldogs

There cant and wont be a deal with carlton. Apparently they just gave away their 1st pick so in this 'shallow' draft why would we want their 2nd rounder???
In terms of players there is absolutely nothing on their list that interests us (Please stop the fisher talk).
I dont believe the dogs are shopping him around, simply because he has very little trade value so why bother? I do on the other hand think he has potential value and this is why "6 clubs have expressed interest" (This is true). Theyd see him as a cheap investment, of course theyd enquire.
So its very easy for journos to manipulate a bs story, like what weve heard, based on the very credible information mentioned.
I laughed today when I heard that Llyod or his managment did not recieve an offer from us, even though on tues P.Smith was adamant this was fact! It just goes to show that they need stories to recieve an income, even if they r utter bs.
I hav no doubt its the same with denham and co re everitt.

Wouldn't say so just yet.

Carlton were never going to give up pick 11 for Everitt. These discussions about Brock would have been going on for a while.

I daresay that Carlton will still very much look to acquire the services of Everitt. Will be interesting to see how they'll go about it.

Your going to have to give up a good player.

What about Hampson? He looked pretty good in 2008, not sure what happened in 2009. With Warnock and Kruezer, he may be expendable and Hampson showed enough in 2008 to get me interested.

Regardless of what is posted on the Carlton board, Hampson is not expendable. Carlton will look to play Kreuzer up forward this year with Warnock and Hampson doing the ruck work. Our 4th choice ruckman in Sam Jacobs could be shopped around.

i just read in an article that pick 27 will be the likely deal and i find that staggering

surely not
If it's in the paper, it has to be true...

Kennedy had no alternative but to go to West Coast even though he had a contract with Carlton still running. Think how he would have been treated had he refused to budge and Carlton lost its opportunity to get the best player in the land. The kid would have been ostracised by the Blues' community. Not even a Brownlow Medal next year would have been enough for the Carlton supporters to forgive him.

Officials from other clubs who watched the Judd deal play out said Carlton would have sacked Kennedy had he not gone to the Eagles.

Given that as things currently stand, it seems Carlton rate Everitt as worth a second round pick, and you guys (this is the club, not the fans), seem more or less content to offer a 3rd rounder plus fringe player for Hall (as of the news tonight).

My question is, rather than giving up Everitt for a second rounder, and obviously depending on the fringe player (someone like Stack maybe, or Tom Williams), would you prefer just do Hall for Everitt, and swap 3rd rounders? I know it doesn't sound like the best deal, but I reckon it's better than what you'd otherwise get.

Basically, you'd get pick 38 instead of pick 27, you'd get to keep your fringe player, and Everitt ends up at a team that is unlikely to be directly competing with you for a Premiership for a while, as opposed to the Blues who could be in a year or two.

Personally, if I were the Dogs, and rated Hall highly enough (and thought competition for him would be strong enough) to give up a 3rd rounder and fringe player otherwise, I'd do it. Anyway, just thought I'd see what Doggies fans thought of it.

wow just wow

dont think ther is any chance of that happening

a more fair trade would be barry hall and our seconder rounder (22) for everitt, and even then i dont think that the dogs would accept it.

tom williams is not a fringe player (dont know whether you were being sarcastic) in thier 18, just injury prone

To me it is looking more likely that Everitt will go to Sydney as part of the Hall deal. He is actually the definition of a fringe player at the Bulldogs.

Everitt obviously has some attitude problems and a move to Sydney is more likely to fix them than anything else. It gets him away from whatever disruptive influences he may have in Melbourne and will immmerse him in the culture that Sydney demand.

The other possible I would see is Tim Callan, who will struggle to get a game at the Dogs but would be a perfect replacement in Sydney for the retired Crouch.

So his manager openly rattled off the fact that 6 clubs had shown interest in him .. as opposed to saying nothing?

Look you may be right, but Greg Swann is a pretty shrewed type when it comes to this stuff - he has a very good relationship with Greg Denham (hence he breaks all our trading stories - Warnock, Judd etc) -- He wouldn't give direct quotes about our intent with no basis.

I have never questioned your interest.

A caller called SEN and asked KB and Greg Denham why would the Dogs want to trade Everitt?

Gregs response was Thats the question the caller should be asking Eade. Greg went on to say that Eade was frustrated with Everitt.

Then he should suck it up and work with the kid to get his attitude right - you dont just throw out talented 194cm players because you had a tiff. He is an experienced adult and everitt is a 20yo footy player ffs! news flash, 20yo footy player is a bit of a nong!

How the hell can we hang on to cameron wight for 7 years and throw everitt out after 2 is beyond me.

swallow your pride eade, and do your job - coach the kid.

Maybe Rocket needs to acknowlege that our young player development has been below par.

Not every player with physical talents will have the mental toughnesss and work ethic of Cross or even Addison. I know Rocket loves the Daniel Cross, Dylan Addison, Tim Callan type of player (and who wouldn't) but the complete package i.e. Callan Ward, doesn't come around very often.

I'd like to hope we can take up the challenge and really work hard to help Everitt become the player we all have hoped he would be. If the club can perservere and turn Everitt into a quality league player he will add a dimension to our team that we currently don't have and which is worth gold - the athletic, quick tall who is good in the air and on the ground.

Good talls are worth gold and we shouldn't easily give up on a 20 year old with massive upside.

Stefoid and LongWait must agree with you 100%.

This does not make sense Everitt signed on recently you only do this if you are a happy at the club.

The fact he is under contract at least gives Rocket the chance to re-think this without the player walking out.
