Carlton want out of opening round for next season, they don’t want to start off interstate.

Already worried about their fixture….
Good. Opening Round is a joke. We did it last year give it to another team if the AFL want to persist with it.

Also the only people whinging about the fixture on here are Pies fans despite their 33 games at the G each year...

All the good clubs - 'Anyone, any time, anywhere'.

Carlton - 'We want out of Opening Round because we want to maximise our pre-season, and ensure we get off to a soft start against Richmond'.

31 games. The two games we play against Carlton are effectively byes.

Well you said the early start didn't bother Carlton

But their season collapsed in the last 8 rounds

Some might say they didn't cope with the early start and peaked too early ie in June
The interstate start against Brisbane who hadn't lost at home in over a year didn't bother Carlton. And our drop off at the end of the season wasn't due to a game in March.

But I understand why Pies fans may think like that when they were blaming 7 day shorter pre-season for their performance in 2024

Indeed.

His statement was 'Didn't seem to bother us in 2024'.

People who support strong teams like we do would only write that if we had a strong season, and the early start didn't bother us.

Carlton supporters really are a different breed.

The topic was clearly about the start of the season. Not all of us wander off topic every 3 seconds when they hit a wall

Only one team had to back up from a premiership and front up to the earliest start to the season in the history of the game.

Brisbane also had an extremely slow start - just coincidence, or maybe there is actually something in that...

I don't think a week makes a difference and certainly does not explain performance across the season given the Lions just won a flag.
