MCG against Carlton at the best time slot there is - Saturday arvo!!!.... And I'm stuck in Perth for a ******* wedding...

I'm also at a "******* wedding" but within a 10min walk of the ground.

Might park the car at the ground and accidentally leave the present in it. Not sure if "I got lost on the way back" will cut it though

Skip the church and rock up to the reception

Whopping big sample size there. 2 whole football games for each.

Adding to that one was a wet weather slog and the carlton game was a very open game on a big ground you actually couldnt find a worse sample size.

My cousins wedding approx 10 years ago my dad sat at the back of the church with his radio headphones in. Can't remember who was playing but Essendon was going goal for goal. The siren must have sounded as in the middle of the ceremony my father yelled out 'yes'

I was in the bridal party for the Adelaide come back game in 2011. I kept updating the score on my phone and couldn't believe we won. Let's just say I didn't pay much attention to the speeches!

Can just imagine something like that.

Celebrant: "If anyone has any reason why these 2 should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace"
EFC kicks winning goal.
Best man: (shouts) "yes!!!"

...straight after "does anyone have any objections? Speak now or forever hold your peace".

Dont see the point in resting so early on in such an important game.

I think we can rest like hawthorn do at times in games, where key players seem to go forward or back and play an easier role. Cooney deeper forward, maybe starting sub or subbed off ect.

Where has this talk come from that hes sore?

My point was more related to a shift in thinking of how an AFL list should be used over a season. However since one mention of resting incites a massive debate on arrogance/complacency and that we should just play the same team most weeks and only drop players on form because thats what has been done for 15 years I will leave the point for another time. Its not worth derailing the thread further.

On the game, has anyone ever been this tentative going into a game? Going into a game not only wondering which Essendon is going to show up but also which Carlton is an odd feeling.

You use the term many games - The discussion is resting players after 2 games - Most of the group had limited practice matches so its important that players get another one or two games of match practice.

Geelong had a good record at resting players to ensure they didn't burn out and were right for finals. They managed to still win the games though.
I don't have a problem with it if we have a good replacement ready to go. But I don't want to see us dropping games to bottom four teams again this year, so if that means less resting players, then I am for that.

In 2011 Geelong rested a player a week after round 11, which they could do seeing they were 10-1. Geelong also hasd a policy of playing two young players in each game.

Agree the traditional Saturday arvo timeslot at the MCG is something to treasure not complain about.

Bulletride to announce the teams shortly for us before the official announcement?

#standbyforbulletride

We could be in some strife, I just picked us in the palmerbet last man standing comp.

Hasn't happened the first two weeks. Somehow I think he who rides the bullet may have lost his impeccable source. :(
