What’s the deal with SDK starting forward… surely just let the kid settle down back where he is best suited? Especially with Hawk and Jezz up forward. Makes not a lot of sense to me.

Also, surely Parfitt needs a run in the 2s? Regardless of how short we are of depth in the middle. Gets benched when the game is on the line in the last quarter anyway, so appears coaches don’t trust him. Needs 4 weeks of 25+ in the VFL to regain confidence I reckon.

Cant take a trick on the injury front this season - Sav out now for a few.

Seems like Chris Scott and medical team are doing a Wiliam Wallace "HOLD"
Holding Hold The Line GIF

on getting players back into the 22.

Which i get as you want them to be right but we have to get back in the W list soon or it wont matter if we bring back GAS as the season will be gone.
And these next 3 games over 4 weeks are not easy at all.

Bringing just one player back wont change the outcome but 3 might - can we afford to Hold one ore week ( effectively 2 with the bye) or is it all or bust time now?

VFL - Was Osca Riccardi rested last week? Liked Clohesy, Foster, Dempsey and Murdoch again. All must go again next year.

And still no official word on Neale re-signing - not liking that.

Completely agree regarding SDK. Suspect the coaching group got a little cute and even when
Sav had a couple kicked on him a move wasn’t made.

Perhaps out-coached again on Saturday. Clubs have a template for breaking the Cats down and I am looking forward to seeing how they respond. If they do.

Was SDK put forward to provide Savs more stability in his role… at the expense of our defence?

Does Sav’s injury reduce his market price and demand from other clubs (PA)? Would bringing Sav to Port Adelaide have been a factor in Port’s recruitment of his good mate Narkle in the mid season draft?

Hi all,

Gutsy win!

Give us your best by lunchtime Thursday!

Kingy

Great win against the odds, some much needed confidence added. I take it it’s a grain of salt, if the dogs took their chances we lose. Having said that, our midfield had a real crack, I thought bruhn in particular threw his body in contests like the 14 did for many years.
At the bye, everyone can get some R & R, get some big names such as danger Duncan Holmes bowes and hopefully Stanley.
Moses may have spent 40 years wandering the desert, but it takes ceglar longer to get from a centre bounce out of the square. with Stanley 33 in December and Debra Conway unsighted, a mid 20s back up ruck would be handy, for a break in case of emergency as right now.
However, our current picks in the draft are 13 and 84, so we’d need to move some out. Parfit could have some currency, if a club was willing to give up enough, I’d look at moving esava. SDK, Henry, kolo can all play tall, o Connor at 191cm too, would still be a risk but when all defenders fit, not sure esava plays. Either way a key defender needs to be drafted and put into the vfl for a couple of years.

Bye week - we can all take a deep breath and with out run home we are gonna need it.

Great game last week and much needed win

Benny - you were on Miers last year as building nicely and by end of 2022 was a vital cog in the Premiership.

This year carried it on even further IMO and whilst the team has struggled he really has not at all - still very unsung in his work rate and fitness to repeat contests and getting up and back down the ground. Can he make top 5 Cargi and would he eve get AA consideration or is it simply too much of a stats award for him to qualify.

Fair return thus far for pick 57 and aint it amazing what happens when you give players time to develop their game? Development takes time.

PS - any inside work on Clarks hotspot and how's Conway progressing - seeing English the other night left me ruck envy.

The Cat Attack Podcast returns next week, and we're keen to hear from you.

Got a question for Cas or Kingy?

Fire them in by midday Thursday.

Pretty good win there by the meow meows over the Dee’s at alphabet stadium. With Cameron out early things weren’t looking good but we scrapped and fought, and a big final qtr showed we aren’t lacking hunger. Impressive that it was younger players such as bruhn, close, Holmes in conjunction with atkins Duncan and Rohan. Bruhn Led the cats with 6 clearances, against a midfield boasting petracca Grundy gawn shows he is going to be a player. Also stanley makes such a difference with his athleticism.
No Cameron this week and I’d like to see the cats replace him with a running type, not a big forward, particularly on the smaller scg.
Vfl boys had a loss but Oliver Dempsey Les the cats with 32 disposals, following on from 24 touches and 3 goals last week. Kingy, does he have a contract for next year? Being rookie listed and in his second season.
Great to see Shannon Neale back, not a lot of it but he did manhandle the opposition ruckman and snap truly from 45m out Hawkins style, which caused some movement south of the equator. Great to see him sign for 2 more.
Go cats

Hey Boys..
It's over the half way point of the season, but have a question regarding the rest of the players that are out of contract...
Here is a list according to Footywire that are out of contract. Who you think will stay/resign/retire/ask to be traded..

Plus in regards to Esava, if he does get asked to be traded, what would you say he be worth in draft picks sense...

Cat attackers,

Port seem right into Esava, even drafting his good mate Narkle. Given he is out of contract this year if he does want to walk and isn't a free agent, do Port have to trade for him? If they offer a higher salary than cats will match, what would a deal look like?

I haven’t seen much of Sammy Simpson this year, is he fully recovered and are we likely to seen him play seniors this year given tight competition for spots?

Hi Gents,

Long time listener first time caller. Can we get a “Cat Attack after Dark” podcast where Kingy doesn’t edit Cas? Would be great listening.

After your thoughts on the commentary around Cameron and Hawkins being down in form. Surely the depletion of our mids is key to this drop off?

Also I’m wondering if the boys have lost that true competitive fight in them with the 14 hanging up the boots? Danger is a much more relaxed and laid back character. Do you think Joel retiring has had an impact on the competiveness of the group?

Thanks gents

Welcome back after 2 weeks of general soreness

Are we at the point now where we can say that if Miers, Stengle, Atkins, Close and SDK have bad or off games we are in Barney?

The point being the emphasis seems to be shifting from PFD, Hawkins and Cameron being the ones we need to fire to win to that next group.. as the wins of late seem to correlate to their games this season improving.

Not say the legends in the team currently are just there for decorations… but the reliance is shifting .

Thoughts?

A bit like sitting at the bar and looking at your pot as half full or half empty, there’s two ways to look at the draw. Lucky to get 2 points or a missed opportunity?
When the whips were cracking I realised I’d walked into the wrong establishment, anyway back to the game.
After all the missed shots on goal, Geelong dominated the last qtr only to kick 1 goal 4 behinds, all from gettable chances. The usally reliable Rohan and touhy missing shots that could have put the game to bed. Lucky for us Robbie fox missed, and I’d think he’d be hiding from the big horse after the game. Patrick Dangerfield, as captain, had the chance to ice the game from 50 out directly in front, and for some reason entertained a pass.
Gryan miers is having some sort of season, and Tom atkins would never fail a lie detector, he’s as honest as the day is long. 14 contested touches from 18, and 11 tackles.
Concern is the backline, which functioned perfectly last week, the addition of esava seemed to upset the apple cart.
In the vfl big Shannon Neale kicked 3 and exciting that he’s officially signed in. Mitch knevitt has also been in very good form since dropping back, working harder defensively and tackling.
Big game v north, hoping Cameron is good to go

After your thoughts on Esava and him potentially upsetting the balance in defence. He seems to play well himself but I feel the backline works better without him. Thoughts?

Kingy and Ben,

Is it time to put some heat on Isaac Smith? I think he has been well under par the last couple of months and we have missed his mts gained and long kicking from the backline. Was half fwd last week most likely due to Sav back in the side and I recon he would want a couple of moments back in the last couple of mins where he didn't apply himself in 50/50s and the ball went the other way. He is not a contest player but in that part of the ground it was required and didn't look great. First time since he has been at the club where I feel he is keeping a Mitch Knevett out of the side.

Just food for thought!
