🎙️ CAT ATTACK PODCAST🎙️

Got a question for Cas or Kingy.

Fire it in by midday Thursday - and they'll do their best to answer it.

Workmanlike win for the cats. Got the work done early and made it comfortable for the rest of the day. Probably the only disappointment for me was in the second quarter when we thought we were the Harlem globe trotters.
Thought we got the work down with some more lesser lights, although gryan miers is having some season, he’ll make a great caddie one day cos he always picks the right club.
Thought it was jack Bowes best game for the cats, Tom atkins and tanner bruhn attack on the ball set the standard in the first qtr especially. After much carry on last week, esava got back to his spoiling best, albeit with not a lot of work to do.
Stengle kicking 5 is great for his confidence, although at times he had the blinkers on, gammalite at the inter dominion style.
Ollie Henry kicking 4 was handy, he certainly had more opportunities and in a couple of years will be a real handful.
Subbing blitz out and giving ranger 51 per cent game time was a great way to manage a couple of older bodies thru. You’d like to think Cameron and smith come in next week fully fit and firing.
Bombers may have ruck and key defence issues so hopefully we can get on the front foot early.
Interesting chat last week about players and contracts. For me, sightings of Toby Conway are more rare than the Loch Ness monster, so I think it’s crucial that Stanley is here for at least one more year. Certainly if we could upgrade ceglar as the break in case of emergency ruck, that would be handy. Generally a mid to late 20s ruck costs a pick 45 and up, I’d be for that.
Anyway, go cats

Great call last week

Again this week another example of club instability with Gold Coast and Stewy Dew and his sacking.

Cant understate the importance of balance and consistency at the coaching and Front office level of the club - and such Geelongs stability off field has been a cornerstone to the success on it.

There has been chat about getting CS re-signed after 2024.

When is the right time to lock him up and is it too early to do so?

Id suggest get thru 2023 and into early 2024 and get it done - seems early to be doing it now.

That said, I know these things take time and starting now might ensure getting it done by aforementioned timeline.

Also, being bereft of picks currently other than Rd1 and requiring 3 list changes, do you see a large turnover at years end?

Id say one of Smith or 2E to retire, Ceglar to be delisted, and Sam Menegola as the 3 to be gone at a minimum. and Sam Simpson as the one on the cusp ( Id hope he stays but he just cant get a clean run at it.

Just saw report we are talking to Bailey Smith from Doggies? Thoughts?

PS - F1 driver updates.... Takuma Sato and Nick Defrys are off the grid, but our Daniel Riccardo is back driving for Alpha Tauri ( Red Bull junior team)

Another week, another podcast.

Got a question? We'll try our best to answer it.

Once again the cats hit the ground running and out the result beyond doubt early, a big bonus here too was the 7 goals kicked in the first qtr, Hawkins and Cameron kicked 0 of them. Someone mentioned last week about the rise of miers, atkins, bruhn, close etc and not relying on the stars, this qtr was a great example.
. Assuming Jeremy Cameron won tattslotto as he seemed to bump into anything and everything around him, luckily he got through and would be better for the run.
Jack Henry’s first half, he seemed to intercept mark everything and began many scoring chains. Not sure who had stringer but he was quieter than a 1920s silent movie star, same goes for Langford.
The big 26 could have bagged out if not for some inaccuracy in front of goal, i for one really want him to go past jack Riewoldt, who is currently 7 in front of him.
Not ideal the talk of esava heading to port, esp when ports first pick is currently 38,that just doesn’t get a trade done, unless they giving us miles Bergman back. Unfortunately being out of contract, he can do what he wants.
I take real confidence into us jumping on the tin missile and taking on the lions at the Gabba.
On a side note. How’s the relationship between the co hosts? And where is the pod recorded? The back room of a tab?

Credit to Kingy for a quality Edit in the Pod last week when the Chorizo sasusage conversation started to wander..... cant imagine why...lol

And Kingy nice appearance in the 360 quad call for Miers opening goal in his 100th.

Much like the great old fight scenes in the 60s' TV series Batman, the Cats applied a solid
Biff
Whammo
Whack
and OOOF

fight batman GIF

to the Bombers last Saturday night and there was nothing the Penguin, Joker, Ridder or Essendon could do about it.

7 goals to none first 1/4 and it was all over.
We've had our share of those in Finals ourselves since 2011 so we all know how it feels and happy to be on the side handing it out.

A full team performance but not needing a masssive outing by any one player to succeed. The 26 is taking shape - but 26 doesnt go into 23.

Special mention to BLitz, Atkins and MOC for their defensive/ tagging work on Merrett and Co.

Given Guthrie is a non starter, 2E, Bews and Sav didnt play, whom of the 23 from Sat night comes out?
Does 2E, Bews and Sav even need to come back in?

Id say 2E could replace Mullin ahead of Bews but Bews is our best lock down small defender - so that even gets hard to figure and with small forwards in Pies Port, Brizzy and Demons - Id say Bews has to get back in.

Good problems to have but who gets left out?

PS - The Neale machine is gaining speed for 2024 - solid 2 last week and that pick up at speed was "chefs kiss" (22:50 3rd 1/4)
203cm blokes cant do that.

Also Bailey van der hurval running around in the vfl, has had a pretty good game today, 16 touches 10 marks, listed as 200cm and 95kg, 25, worth a rookie list as a developing key defender?

It be interesting see if Esava goes to Port Howla, could he be a option in being a replacement of Esava 🤷

Boys.. Got 3 questions to ask you?

1 How do you like your steak cooked? Myself it's Well Done ( and before you have a crack at me and say you might as well eat a leather belt.. I like it cooked , not charcoal cooked, just simply done nicely with out any blood, it's not that hard to ask?

2 Esava.. By all reports he must be Port bound, What would you say in a pick would he be worth? I say pick between 30-35

3 Tom DeKonning. Are you still keen on him Ben? I still not fussed in getting him tbh, his in his 6th season now, and still hasn't established himself yet... I think a bloke who has played footy his whole life ( not like Esava who didn't start until later in his junior years ) Should be starting to take the game by the horns now.
It's a pass for me... But I think the pick we get for Esava is about fair price to give to Carlton, which I said that pick be 30-35

Cheers FoxDog50 🍻

Another week, another podcast.

Got a question? We'll try our best to answer it.
Toby Conway, shall I compare thee to a Summer's day? Played 50% game time but threw oppo rucks around like I do my 5 year old trying to nab the sugar tin off the shelf.

Do my eyes deceive or is he ready for senior opportunity as soon as he builds fitness? Was he being made to look like Max Gawn by weak opposition? Is chasing TDK pointless with this kind of fire-power in the wings? Give me an opinion to have so I don't have to think so hard

Scratcher Neale: how has his return been. It's he still getting back into the rhythm of playing?

Plenty to discuss in the next edition of the Cat Attack Podcast.

Fire in your questions by 12pm Thursday.

In the end a close loss against a team who’d won 46 of their last 50 at their home, so you’d probably take that considering the flogging we copped in contested ball.
Could have easily gone either way, we hit the post twice and their 2 goals in first qtr were very lucky, hipwood kicking straight happens as much as Hayley’s comet
The backline were superb in my opinion, and kept us in the game. Stewart top shelf, Henry SDK very good and kolo keeping Cameron to a cheap out the back goal was a great effort.
Unfortunately I’m not sure there’s A lot ewe can do in the midfield, unless cam Guthrie can get back sooner, even then I’m not sure he can get up to the level quick enough. Knevitt has been in very good vfl form but we’d be throwing a second year player to the wolves by putting him against Neale Dunkley etc
Forward line looked sluggish, Rohan not playing meant Harris ‘Dan’ Andrew’s did what he wanted, something we can correct should we play in finals
Vfl, Toby Conway is doing some very nice things second game back, and a big preseason with no injuries would be great.
Bailey van der hueval again played well at centre half back and would be a cheap as chips key defence option, should esava leave.
Get home v freo, get back on board

K rock Football can you try and find out where James Willis is?
Hasn’t played a game for well over a month
No injury updates but somehow in the middle of all this he signed a year extension.

We just want to be updated and stop treated like fools

K rock Football

Can you also ask how this type of situation is reconciled with their desire to be 'the supporter's club'?

Fellas

Hope you enjoyed all the trip had to offer.

Husky voices on Monday was it?

Certainly would not have been from barracking loudly and celebrating a win. Getting the team 3rd on ladder to within 11 points on their deck looks good on paper but the reality seemed worse to me.

The eyeball test IMO had us far from our best and soundly beaten around the ground - but in the last we suddenly turned it on and come back from 30 odd points down to fall 2 goals short - and we had more than 2 gettable set shots in the game that were missed.

The disposal, double touches and lack of synergy in the team are the parts I find most disturbing. Seems to stem from pressure - perceived or otherwise thats then effecting everything downstream.

Jezza clearly not right either and while backing himself in is meritoriuos surely Neale has to play in his place as Jezza cant get one arm over his head.

Rohan back and Mullin out - geez Mullin has some toe to him. In 6 months when he's got another 15 VFL games under his belt... could be something but till then not so much in the AFL side for mine.

Mullin will probably be something and I get he needs to play games to get expereince and Blitz had the same teething issues when he first started....
( i have vivid memories of Brad Hill for Hawks leading BLitz on a merry dance on the Warne stand wing at the G) but surely the VFL is the place for him at this time.

WE still control our destiny but its getting harder to make the 8 every week now.

Looking forward to Sat - ill be in Lost wages for the next 3 weeks. Look out.
