Smart move, create the one mega list recommended from a bunch of different people with expertise, and then a separate list from the fat corrupt prick that we use to wipe our arse with.
Not one of her better decisions to go to him on this.

That she's taken this route could imply that none of the other candidates have impressed her enough to secure them.

He may have been the one to offer support. And then the one to leak to the journalists.

He needs reputational rehabilitation, it makes sense from that lens.

Either way, she decided to include him in the process. We don't need his dirty fingerprints on this. Not great that his involvement is now public

THE ROOS MOVE THAT WASN’T

Demetriou concedes now the apathy of the Gold Coast residents to a relocated Kangaroos outfit — as well as James Brayshaw’s determination — stopped the relocation in its tracks.

“It was always going to be the poorer choice of two decisions because the Gold Coast had told us pretty clearly, this is the public and all the research, that they wanted their own team,” he told Sacked.

“They didn’t want a North Melbourne relocated team that was a mishmash of North Melbourne players and a few other picks brought in. They wanted a full home team.
“Not all Gold Coast players but recruited players living on the Gold Coast. With local identities on the board.

“In many ways, James Brayshaw and that cohort did a great job in rallying the troops.

“There was no bad blood from the AFL and I have read reports that there was.

“North are debt free, they are well run. They are on the up with a good list coming through and a good coach.

“I am thrilled they stayed and if someone said to me today North Melbourne should relocate to Tasmania, I would say don’t be ridiculous.”

If the AFL did not hold animosity towards the Roos, the failed relocation hardened their resolve to expand the competition while also retaining an even number of teams.

I do feel conflicted with our President approaching the man who tried his damndest to kill our club and wipe us out of existence only 15 years ago for help here.

In saying that I 100% trust Sonya and perhaps Demetriou has softened towards his club a little in his old age.
I just don’t trust him however.

Next she'll be going to Caro for her to suggest who we should appoint.

If you squint, it looks like he's happy to be back....

In all seriousness, though, relations with AFL head office would be one of the most crucial parts to the CEO's role, so taking advice from a former AFL CEO is a smart move by Sonja.

I think Sonja is very quietly, one-by-one, getting everyone back on side.

Clever girl.

My first preference would be for Demetriou to be flung from a giant trebuchet at a blunt object, something blunt like Kane Cornes would suffice.
Not sure his inglorious stint at Crown exactly screams ‘yeah, I’d be perfect as CEO at a community focused club like North’.
Yeah, I can see the ‘he’d have good access and connections to the AFL, levels of govt and the corporate pig swill dwellers’ angle.

Beware of that fat snake

I'm glad that some on here get it, he's a slimy campaigner that we don't want anywhere near our joint.

Smart move by Sonja. Very smart.

I'd absolutely consider Demetriou for our job if he met the criteria.
Just look at the CEO's of the modern successful clubs; Gale, Cook, Harley, etc. All stand up blokes who are bloody good operators with high integrity and not in the papers for the wrong reasons. That's the profile of CEO we should be targeting.
