I’m not generally a fan of affirmative action for its own sake. Much happier to see merit based appointments. In this case I’d be thrilled if the best person for the job turned out to be a woman. Feels like something we need.

A gentle reminder that Sayers served on the board through some of the worst periods in our history.
Leaves after a very messy and public event which has hurt the club.
I suspect the fallout will continue. The distraction of an impending board battle woth the usual suspect trying to puppet-master a new president … last thing we need leading into a new season.
Sayers got the Cook appointment right and managed to align the leadership. Not insignificant but this is what normal clubs do well as a rule … we seem only to get this stuff right as an exception.

Living off government outsourcing gravy train has not been the complaint, as far as I've read on here. More the lying about using confidential information to undercut Australian taxpayers - when they had signed off that they wouldn't.

They all lie, cheat, steal and do even worse to their own people. They are all the same. PWC got 'caught' and outted probably because someone in there offended someone somewher or didnt slip them an appropriate thank you - politicians and seniour Public Servants are all cheap buys and generally speaking not the sharpest knives in the block.

PS I am not defending or condoning just commenting - base don my own experience(s).

Couldn't think of someone less naturally suited to the role. Or less qualified.

Although when self-interest, gaslighting and sucking at your job are your only skills I'm not sure what job you're qualified for.

For an obviously sh!t bloke Sayers did a good job as president. Very glad he's moved on though.

Says a lot about society that defrauding the taxpayers out of hundreds of millions doesn't get you the ass from carlton president but a pic of your knob does.

A brief outline. The taxation dept at PWC we're asked by the government of the time to help write some policies to stop companies minimising/not paying tax in Australia.

The expert that the government employed thought that it was a good idea (on behalf if the company) to go to the most likely companies involved and sell them ways to dodge the new legislation coming in. Clearly very unethical to take money from the government to strengthen laws and make money from companies as to how to circumvent them.

Luke was CEO of PWC at the time. He claims that in such a massive company (maybe near 10,000 staff at the time) he was not aware what was going on. A high ranking ATO officer claims that he pointed it out to Luke later on but Luke denies this. This dates back to 2016 (from memory). There are no official findings against Luke. The main culprit and other partners at PWC who benefited (or ensured that the company benefited) have been named and shamed.

Hoping that this helps anyone who is intetested. I have tried to give an impartial view but others may have different takes.

Maybe that's true. But however bad it is now, the less everyone else does about it, the worse it will get.

I'm glad PWC got caught because I'd rather we catch some guilty parties than none at all.

The “I don’t remember the conversation with the ATO” line either made him incompetent or negligent or both. I still think Carlton voting members (my membership doesn’t qualify me to vote) should have been a bit more intrigued on what the whole affair suggested about his leadership credentials.

I have a close mate who works for PwC who reckons it is a hollowed out shell of a company in the wake of the work it has subsequently lost.
