Official Club Stuff CFC President thread - BREAKING: Luke Sayers steps down effective immediately

The very skillset that got us into shitsville and kept us there. Egos, shortcuts and short term thinking and decision making. Sayers was there for a lot of it. The only credit he and the board gets from me is the appointment of Cook to short circuit that merry go round.

I think this ignores just how bad we were as a club, and the monumental amount of work that has gone into turning us around over the last decade. It hasn't all been smooth sailing, but we've been headed in the right direction. 2015 was when we started to change course. 10 years ago!
LoGiudice's board (of which Sayers was a part) did a massive amount of work stabilising the club, but made big mistakes with the Liddle and Teague appointments. When Sayers took over he righted those two mistakes.

Interesting take from Kane about Cook taking on the role for a period of time and allowing Wright a chance to step into his shoes early.

Ian Prendergast was also touted at some point to come onto the board if I recall? Although may not have the clout we'd be after.

Think yours truly floated this earlier re: Cook for Prez. I’ll listen in to see if Kane-O is lifting any other material..

If Frydenberg gets the gong, I'll be taking a break from the club for a while. And did someone else nominate Chris Judd? Yeah, nah.
There's not many things that would make me consider handing my membership in but this may just well be one of them

Same. Sick of the political affiliations.

Didn't particularly impress me when he was a club director.

We don't have much to go on though. We know that Judd didn't want someone with training wheels on for coach, and then we went with Teague and he had to walk it back. Turned out he was right though.

What else do you know about Judd as a director?

Can't really give too much away...would get me into trouble with someone. Let's just say...he's much better at giving the appearance he's a very, very smart guy than actually being so. Not saying he's incompetent or would be a disaster...but sometimes things aren't always as they seem.

Sorry to be so vague.

Josh Frydenberg shouldn't need to rule himself out twice. He did it yesterday.

Apologies...didn't realise he had. Cheers.

So this has come from someone you know? I reckon that nobody could be President if we took on board everybody's opinion. You'll always find someone who has a personal grievance or poor opinion of a person. In Judd's case, the opinions of the rest of the board will be closer than anything else we can find.

Yes.

And yes...that person could indeed be President. ;)

I don't like the idea of someone who could be president, talking about other club identities in such a way. Now you'll have me doubting whoever gets the role. I don't want anyone doing it for ego or status.

The guy I know would never run for the job...and anything he has shared with me has been completely off the record.

This all sounds a bit silly reading it back...probably should delete.

Oh, when you said he could be president, with a wink emoji, it seemed like you were saying he was right in the running.

Judd's record as a director was underwhelming. Enough said.

I'm not advocating for Judd. It's just these blanket statements with zero detail that have me thirsting for information.

Are these whispers?

I know the media served it up to him over his 'training wheels' comment, but I can't help but feel he was thrown under the bus on that one.

I think Judds time as a director is fraught with misnomers and vagaries.

For a start it was a part time position, and criticisms were that he was never seen. Well, it was part time and he wasn't needed to be seen. What he did say publicly the club acted in the opposite and he was shown to be right. Granted, there wasn't much he did publicly, but the one he did he was ultimately correct.

I'm not convinced it was a Judd issue but rather a mismanaged position at the time. Footy director probably shouldn't be a part time role. Maybe it was done that way to facilitate Judd who has said in the past his motivations are beyond just footy. If so, that's not a Judd fault, it's a board fault for facilitating something that doesn't actually work.

I could see Judd as president but I'd want his full commitment and his motivations to be sound. If so, I think he'd be excellent in the role.

I'm sorry, the vague accusations above that maybe he's not so smart and that's coming from a guy who is going for president but 2 posts later isn't, but I can't actually say anything, isn't a convincing case.
