Deal with it!

I deleted it because on reflection I thought it was out of line. You could do some reflecting about how you post too.

I agree with you, that this is exactly the sort of game we have tended to lose in the last three or so years. Previous week we play very well, take a big scalp, turn up next week and...pfft.

I am also concerned that the club has seen fit to organise a gala event/ball tomorrow night, to celebrate our 125th. No pressure on the team to perform with the big night immediately after! This is classic Collingwood, or at least classic Collingwood as we have been under Eddie and Pert. Could be seen as insulting to Carlton, to have a big celebration following a game, and not a smart strategy. Couldn't we have waited until the bye?

Anyway, saying all that, if we play like last week, we will win. I also take comfort from the fact that while it was a hard game against the Cats, it wasn't one of those crazy frenetic games we play, with a record number tackles, that leaves us spent and exhausted and flat for the next week.

Yeah I personally don't trust us enough to do what needs to be done.

On paper (and form against Geelong), we should beat them by over 10 goals. I've just seen this side follow up big scalp wins with trash (and vice versa) waaaaaaaay too many times to not expect it to happen tomorrow as well.

I almost exclusively argue the point not the person as you've done again here. Like our coach I'm "strong willed" with my beliefs and I back that up with data and visual perceptions. The ignore function is available if you don't agree with that style or feel like you won't be able to refrain from personal clips in the future.

Flamboyant brutality? Kinda interested to see that. Rene Kink maybe or Dermie reboxed as a HBFer that can run.

Brutality in the sense that I want our half back flankers who run hard out of defence.. I've always said Ramsay and Smith are ok.. I'm not keen on these pretty neat kicks to the left and right though etc..

When will we ever see Ramsay and Smith run the wings hard.. it's normally get the ball.. look up.. give it.

If Ramsay or Smith can play that Johaneson style of game.. we'd be such a difficult team to play against.

I'm just liking your language more than anything, paints the picture of an interesting HBF.

As to your sentiments I agree we need that line breaking HBF with an attacking foot. Smith wont be that but doesn't mean he wont be useful but I think Ramsay has a chance of being that player. He is fast, has shown tendencies towards breaking lines especially in 2016 and has good kicking skills and will use them in attacking. He is a kid coming off an ACL so needs time but he is a chance to be that player

I think you have an excellent knowledge of the game and I enjoy reading many of your posts, so I won't be putting you on ignore. There are times though when I think you are a bit condescending with your replies. Just a friendly observation.

Ramsey reminds me of Jaxson Barham except with a better kick. Same height and has good speed but played one good game to fool everyone. Jaxson stared against the Brisbane Lions - 28 Disposal and 9 tackles. Didn't do much after that. Infact was delisted a year later. Had high hopes for the kid but the kid looks lost out on the field and usually gets beaten in every contest.
There were some big question marks about that first game for Barham, about nine of them in clanger form.

I'm in Bendigo and it works fine for me. I love sen, but not so much now that Garry and Hamish are doing mornings.

Must depend where in Benders you live. I generally avoid most commercial radio but SEN in particular is bloody ordinary.

Makes sense to celebrate the anniversary close to the date. Don't have an issue with it. The result tomorrow will definitely set the tone though.

Do brutes run?

I think the reason they won't go with a trial of Reid forward for now is they believe Cox will become a viable forward as well as do the relief rucking. If Reid goes forward we use Darcy in the ruck and that's not ideal. Also with Elliott, Fasolo, WHE, De Goeyall trying to have forward roles we really don't have the space or need for a tall 3rd forward like White who would ruck.

Time will tell if it works. I think it will.

So, that's where I guess I disagree. I think Moore as the relief ruck would do wonders for him -- give him more strings to his bow and let him off the leash a bit. Cox shows a lot of promise but I still think he needs to develop some more in the vfl, until he starts to really dominate there.

We tend to run the ball out well with Howe, Goldsack and Varcoe. Smith is good at a settling kick (it may be infuriating to watch but at least he gives us a little more posession) and Ramsay is... uhh... mmmm... another set of hands at least.

Since both Howe and Sack have a turn of speed, it's worth letting them be both run out of defence and a good long clearing kick, as with Dunn.

Yes he's in career best form.

Nearly, I remember a patch in 2010/11 (can't remember exactly) when he got on the end of a chain of kicks/hballs and kicked a goal from outside fifty from outside 50 (think it was against the dogs). An amazing team goal that a defender actually finished off.

Ben Johnson esque!

Yeah thats what it comes down too. I think Darcy would be better served but a pure forward role. Also when he went into the ruck we either have Reid as a lone forward or Reid and Grundy which leaves us with a big man on the forward line with little forward nous. I think Cox is developing ok in the AFL so prefer him there.
