Solid night at the selection table overall, IMO.

I'm not sure on Seedsman, however what other options did we have for that role of wing/ Def? Young was probably the only other or we stick with the "rested" Oxley.

White was giving nothing on the defensive side of the ball so has been vulnerable since v Hawthorn. Moore's performance and the impending weather came together to see him gone.

Then we have Kennedy and Blair. Kennedy was poor last week and Blair hasn't given much since we stopped playing the minnows and his defensive pressure has dropped as well so again you can't overly complain about that.

Adams return along with Elliott provides us with a further two creative forwards because it releases Pendles. All up about as good as could be expected when we're without Cloke.

If the pressure is up we should get through because this is the best 22 we've fielded all year, but if that's off we'll be in for a challenge.

I think it's more about Cloke not being there, leaving Moore as the lone tall forward, it's his 4th game. I'm hoping he tears them apart but he'll get the best tall defender.

I reckon you could see pendlebury play a fair amount of time forward this week like the Gold Coast game. We have our best midfield in for the year which should release pendles to go forward.

Yeah him and Swan could spend a bit of time forward.

Adams, Crisp, Greenwood, Sidebottom should be able to manage the midfield.

I agree Fasolo last chance.
Fas will kick 3 and have 20 possies for the next few weeks then he will go missing as usual.

Not sure about the changes but the players that are out deserve to be out.

Need Grundy to stand up in the forward line this week he is a way better option than Witts there, hopefully Witts 80% ruck this week.

I reckon we are one forward and one defender short to be honest.

I am happy to see the outs, but I thought white would come out for either Cloke or Reid.

It could work this week as a one off to throw melbourne off a bit, but it's not a good forward set up long term.

I also think we will struggle to stop Howe given the dees line up with McDonald, hogan and Dawes forward, and Toovey plays on Garlett. That leaves Maynard or Langdon on Howe. Otherwise Langdon goes to McDonald or Toovey goes to hogan with Williams on Garlett.

Seedsman is lucky, but Melbourne is a slow team and his pace can exploit them. Bucks is really finding out about him and I don't mind that.

Happy with Dwyer in as he has earned it, and Adams + Elliott are solid inclusions

Not really unfortunately. It isn't entirely what I was expecting so I'm interested to see if he lines up at VFL level.
According to Balme on team sheet he won't be playing at all this week.

I think you'll find the people who wanted white dropped aren't the ones who are skeptical about his exclusion.

Anyone else get the felling Melbourne is going to try and rough up young Darcy? A bit like we did when watts debuted against us back in 2010-11?

Moore is not Watts.......and Collingwood is not Melbourne..............more importantly we have the sledgehammer VARCOE!!!

Going off Varcoe, hasn't hurt anyone for a long time, his reputation is slipping. Was it four in a row at one time?;)

Can only think of one player from Melbourne that is likely to do that - Vince. Hopefully he will be minded.

All true. Still reckon Melbourne might try funny buggers. Would love nothing more than to see the velvet sledgehammer smash through the dees leaving piles of demons in his wake.

We have have angry Adams, the samurai and young monster Maynard as well as velvet. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit of biffo.
Within the law, can't afford any players out. Although I love the fact that Adams doesn't take a step backwards.

Dropping White, while deserved, leaves Moore the only target for their KPDs.

He's going to get smothered like no one's business on Saturday. Can't imagine it'll be great for his confidence.

+1

As much as White's inability to take a contested mark (outside the occasional exception) frustrates no end with no Cloke (or Reid) I wouldn't have thought this week was the right time to drop him.

Big ask for young Darcy.

He might only be an average forward but is still ahead of both young rucks at present in this regard and in reality is probably having his best season.

The larger M.C.G. probably suits him more also.

This Buckley team seems to have a lot of hard players. Meanest team we have had for many years.

All great teams have a tough streak. We are building nicely.
