Lets see how Moore goes this weekend without White playing up forward as well.

Saying something like "Jessica White" is ridiculous - he hasn't actually been as made as what people are making him out to be.
Agree he is third tall not a CHF, FF or second ruck like we been playing him

Ideally he plays up forward with Cloke and Reid/Moore as the third tall - thats what he was recruited for.
Then gives a chop out in the ruck for a small percentage of the game to give the ruckman a breather.

Anyone else get the felling Melbourne is going to try and rough up young Darcy? A bit like we did when watts debuted against us back in 2010-11?

Maybe but Moore is not Mentally Weak like Watts. Doubt it would Effect him.

Plus Moore is already as good as Watts maybe even better

Exactly, as a third tall he is decent player because he is playing on a third defender not a 1st choice defender

McDonald forward? I thought he was their best defender?

Frost & Brown will cover Hogan & Dawes. Goldsack will likely take their third tall (Howe?) and someone like Langdon can give height away to Watts as he's not a contested marking player (2012 his only season averaging more than 1 a game). Far as I can tell they only have Gawn for rucking so there won't be a resting ruck forward. I don't know if Watts has ever been sent back but think they might be able to use his height to help spoil our tall forwards if needed.

I was a little surprised at White out (with no Cloke or Reid) and Seedsman in but we are going with resting ruckman & Moore up forward in wet conditions against a Melbourne backline that is a bit short. McDonald at 194 covering Moore or Grundy/Witts and then Dunn (192) or Garland (191) to cover the other.

Whilst a bit surprised at Seedsman inclusion (not a high possession game in VFL with 17) he did have some impact - 4 clearances, 8 inside 50, 4 rebound 50, 4 tackles. I think he's the kind of player we need to find some form and who better to do it against then lower teams Dees & Blues? Even if he has a poor game I expect with Adams return we will have enough grunt in the middle to allow Pendles, Dwyer, Varcoe & Sidebottom to deliver the goods.
McDonald has played a lot forward since Cloke towelled him up last time.

No doubt will do so again, especially with our lack of tall forwards.

Also watts is playing midfield and playing well. I would tag him with crisp who would run off him hard.

Watts is a good user with time, but he is still susceptible to pressure.

Which good things?

White has played 16 games this season as a forward and has kicked 23 goals.

Moore has played 2 games this season as a forward (one game as a backman) and has kicked 5 goals.

White is a player at his peak and Moore is learning his craft. I'd expect a lot more from an established player than what is being delivered.

As I said, none are as blind as those who will not see... As an example of the good go back and revisit how Moore got his first goal last week.

And the irony... you've outlined beautifully why Moore has not yet surpassed White. He's an inexperienced kid. Who was his opponent for most of last week until Talia (who himself is just a kid) went onto him? More accomplished defenders in Spangher and Stratton kept him to 4 disposals and a point.

Yes White has kicked 23 goals but you discount multiple games where he was also our 2nd ruck. You discount that White has also played on the best KPDs. You ignore the fact that White has a good history of kicking those at 50 boundary line goals.

Moore has 1 game where he kicked 5 goals and all of a sudden he's the messiah. Seriously, give me and the kid a break!

I reckon we are one forward and one defender short to be honest.

I am happy to see the outs, but I thought white would come out for either Cloke or Reid.

It could work this week as a one off to throw melbourne off a bit, but it's not a good forward set up long term.

I also think we will struggle to stop Howe given the dees line up with McDonald, hogan and Dawes forward, and Toovey plays on Garlett. That leaves Maynard or Langdon on Howe. Otherwise Langdon goes to McDonald or Toovey goes to hogan with Williams on Garlett.

Seedsman is lucky, but Melbourne is a slow team and his pace can exploit them. Bucks is really finding out about him and I don't mind that.

Happy with Dwyer in as he has earned it, and Adams + Elliott are solid inclusions

So DaVe86 you think we will struggle to contain the Dees and we will Struggle to kick a Score and we will have a 6 game Losing Streak

Lol where did you get that from???

I only said it is not the structure I would've gone with. Personally I think we have picked a very fleet footed side which should run Melbourne off its legs. I'm tipping a solid win.

I think Melbourne will load up their forward talk, which might see a guy like Howe get off the leash. I also think we will see a lot of Pendles and swan forward.

I personally would've dropped witts and Maynard and kept white in...whilst promoting scharenberg or marsh.

No knock on Maynard, we would just be too inexperienced with he and scharenberg there for example

I've sleepped on it which normally gives me a refreshing aura of positivity but this morning I still feel the same. I tend to agree Bucks' last couple of weeks at the selection table has been a little baffling. Maybe pressure cracks are appearing.

You think Buck’s Job under Pressure?

Well according to some. White is our Number 1 Forward and he is Undderrated:eek:.

I think we going for More Pressure up Forward with the Smaller Forward Line

I agree with this. Give Marsh a run against a weaker team, Witts out in the wet, Keep White - he could have 35 goals for the season which isn't terrible.

You made it look we can’t stop everyone in the Dee’s Forward Line. You said we have no real Option to stop Howe.

Good argument. White should also not be credited with 23 goals this year, they should be credited to Elliott Cloke Pendlebury and Swan who deliver it to him.

Except for last week White has never played on the best KPDs since Cloke plays on them.

Let us use the Hawthorn game as a comparison. Let's use some context.

Moore played his first ever AFL game against the reigning premiers.

Moore was held goalless and kicked one behind. He played poorly.

White playing in his 10th season played on Gibson and kicked 2.2 and had 14 possessions 0 goal assists. He also missed a soda in the 2nd quarter. He also missed a goal late in the fourth quarter to put us in front. I would say he played an average/passable game.

Who is to say that Moore will be better than White? No one. How will we find out? If Moore is given the same opportunities White has.

You think Buck’s Job under Pressure?
No I just think he might be feeling the pressure of falling out of contention from a position of 8 and 3 two years in a row and possibly not making finals.

Like Bucks and many others I like the look of the list and believe Bucks is the right person for the job and the team is heading in the right direction. That does not mean Bucks won't make mistakes along the way.

I had mixed emotions last year about Bucks' coaching, but this year he has convinced me that he is the right fit for the club. Watching him speak on 360 and other media conferences has really impressed me and given me confidence in his abilities. Still that does not mean he won't make mistakes and I will agree with all of his decisions plus voice my opinion on BF, right or wrong.

Sadly if Collingwood think Moore will dominant as a number 1 forward at 18, the selectors have got rocks in their head. Should of waited for next week when Cloke is back and then drop White. Poor Moore at 18 they think he can carry a forward line no matter how good he will be.

Rubbish Dave. Nobody has ever said that White is our number 1 forward. Ever. Never ever ever.

Stop making things up.

theres some funny people on here . most have been wanting white dropped, now he is
they say its wrong, make your mind up please and be consistent

I think you misunderstand. It is 'why now'?

If Cloke was playing I don't think many would have an issue. But leaving Moore and the Ruckman as sole KPF options has significant risk.

We wait and see. They could have kept White in or rushed in Reid. Obviously there will be a late in or they believe he is good enough to lead the line.

In part it could be a structural choice to go with a smaller forward line and more mobile team over all

In that scenario you couldn't drop Moore off the back of 5 goals and Jessie needs to be on notice anyway
