A significant chunk of who aren’t playing close to AFL grade footy. And we built that premiership season on the back of rewarding kids tearing it up in the WAFL, and giving them extended opportunities to impress.

To watch our last 12 quarters of footy and decide Brander out, ignoring MAllen and Waterman and continuing to back in experienced players who aren’t delivering is frustrating as hell.

I’m not saying drag them over the coals but some of those guys are in desperate need of a circuit breaking week off.

I don’t like how they’re managing him. If he’s done enough to get an AFL game, you have to back him in to play at least two. You can’t just keep sticking him on a plane for shite away matchups and expect him to tear it up. Three ‘one and done’ road trips seem a really difficult way for a bloke to pick up AFL experience. Either he’s done enough to come in, in which case back him in for a single home game for once, or he hasn’t in which case leave him in the WAFL.

If we’d won last week, or even looked like we were playing the same sport as Geelong, Brander for Redden isn’t inherently an issue. However, we’ve been playing subpar footy for three weeks now, that this is the only change the MC feels like making is a pretty frustrating position to be in.

It’s not just the Brander change, but the Brander change is symptomatic of what looks like an attitude shift from last season to this season.

What a joke! Venebles go in on reputation with no form, many clangers and can't be bothered attitude in WAFL - why should he as he knows he doesn't have to try! Then when he carries on the poor form in 1sts, nothing happens. What a ride he's getting.

Same with Rotham gets dropped into the deep end against Collingwood and GWS and plays a huge team role but gets replaced by Scofield for Freo. WC lose 11/12 quarters since then, with Scofield spudding. Rotham has far better numbers in WAFL and AFL but can't get a game!

Had a good look at MAllan in the weekend and he's a genuine big inside mid and had 8 tackles and a goal in a gutsy close game! What do ya have to do to get a game around here?

Also a reminder on Brander (below). Approx 60 and 80m goals against Subi with a 25km westerly (cross field). He is seriously talented and gets a random game thrown at him once a year and asked to play FF or FB or LFO (left right out). If there were better players on the wing taking up space and running patterns, making 1.8m tackles per game it wouldn't be that bad, but there isn't. I wouldn't be surprised if he's looking at ways to get out of contract.

I can assure campaigners, dropping JD for Waterman, sending Brander to the ruck and dropping Venables for a first gamer won't conjure a convincing win.

Definate reversal of the selection approach from last year. Its been shithouse. No effort to build internal competition from within the playing list. No reward for good performance and no consequences for bad performancem
