I know that murphy wasn't great, but to me it seemed that there were a few occasions where he contested in the air well and brought the ball to ground in situations where most players would have got outmarked. Did anyone else see it this way?

Agreed. Murphy could never play Noble's role.

I am starting to see his deficiencies more than anything else, but am prepared to accept that there might be something worth persevering with. Just where to play him is the question.

I think he was better than his first game. Still looks like he's adjusting to the pace of this level but worth persevering with for sure.

Have to remember these kids missed all of last year (Mickey Mouse scratch games aside) and will need a good 12 months to feel comfortable at AFL level.

In saying that, the ease at which Bianco has taken to senior footy is remarkable to watch.

Murphy may be slower, but from what I have seen he is much more courageous, neater skills, no team killing mistakes and has a bit of size. Quaynor provides run and so can crisp when he’s back there.

Noble as harsh it sounds is a battler, gives 110% but lacks skill, footy IQ and makes game changing mistakes on a weekly basis. Would not get a game at most other clubs.

How can you watch Noble play this year and possibly come to this conclusion. Wasn't his best game on the weekend but he's had a really good season.

The only defenders who don't make the odd "team killing" mistake are those who are ultra safe with the footy - Mayne and Roughy, which can be a team killing mistake in itself. Noble makes more than his share, but Bruzzy, Moore and Quaynor are good for their share too. Crisp also when he plays defence.

Hands look OK in close and he's supposedly got elite endurance, so I'd give him time too, but in the ressies, he's nowhere near it at the moment.

I can overlook mistakes when your trying to create something, maybe missing a target. It's the outright shanks of the football that I struggle to accept.

Noble and IQ have been really good. I'd look at keeping Pendles back there rotating with Crispy when required.

IMHO some posters have it in for him because he is a tiny little translucent premmy.

It's the exact other end of the phenomenon that sees man mountains like Callow seen as the great shining lights and saviours.

I'm the biggest critic of Callum Brown.
Don't think he's a footballer's arseh*le at AFL level and should not have been gifted as many games as he has.

In saying that, there is no possible way he is dropped after his half, he can however remain medical sub.

No better than our middling teams of 2014-2017 imo. Would achieve a close to parity record but that side ain’t doing much

Jamie missed way more footy and came back and kicked 6. Obviously they are different players but if fit cox has to play forward and rotate in the ruck with Cameron, Gawn will still dominate but Lynch will get absolutely eaten alive.

To the poster who says it to early for Johnson, why? He has been playing sanfl presumably fit and it’s not exactly hard to get a game in our forward line. Wouldn’t be a great look for us but he most likely will be an upgrade on a few in our forward line.

Elliott had a 3 week intensive mini-preseason. What's Cox's preparation been like?

Johnson won't get a senior gig without at least training with the team and probably a VFL game or 2.

I have watched every game, he accumulates a lot of the ball so stats look good on paper. Under pressure generally makes critical mistakes and in the back half it has cost us goals.

looks like a boy against men out there. He’s not a good one on one defender, he is quick but rarely breaks the lines.

He should not be guaranteed a game each week and definitely wouldn’t be getting a game for many other sides. There are obviously players who deserve to be dropped before him but cannot understand how he’s a lock in this team and think with the development of youngsters he will eventually get pushed out of the side.

Who stops Petracca though? A shame we delisted Wills, he would have been perfect for that role.
