I was referring to the likes of Ainsworth, Rosas and Jefferies, but Rankine also played a very good game....
So between the 4 of them they kicked 7 goals. Hardly tore us a new one considering they kicked 18. We went out and drafted 2 big boys tonight. Should tell you where Sam sees our weaknesses are. It's not in the small defender positions.

The opposite of what you said. Our weakness is our talls or lack there of. This week we actually match up ok even with Frost out. For us where the game is won or lost is if our midfield turns up. It's a poor group as it is but occasionally they play well together and hold their
own. I think we have the forward line to cause problems as long as we give the guys down there a proper chance and enough looks at it. Were 1 of the worst sides for inside 50s.
I've only watched you once this year, but I don't think you mopped up ground balls very well in defence.

Against Brisbane we killed them in transition from the backline. ATM our gameplan is built around fast rebound.if you have poor ground ball defenders it makes the gameplan redundant. We had a poor night everywhere Saturday night but if we play to what our style is every week it will look much better on Sunday.

Your results this year have been better than I was expecting. Like most games, it'll be about who executes better.

Given that Tom Mitchell has routinely gone untagged by us throughout the Bucks era to our great disadvantage, perhaps we should put a tagger on him this time. Would Josh Carmichael be able to play this role as he learns our systems in the middle? If so, perhaps drop Tyler Brown for Josh? If not (especially considering the improbably short lead time), perhaps Beau can execute the role as a tagger, given his speed and aggression. Either way, Tyler could be usefully stepped down for this one...

This is a game we should win.

Which is why I see it as a danger game!

We seem to play well against the better sides. A win here will show growing maturity, not to mention a 7-5 record which is beyond what most felt feasible.

Play like we did against Carlton with straight kicking and we win comfortably.

Play like we did against West Coast…..

Were better than our 4-7 record suggests. Should really be 2 extra wins IMO. Bombers game and even the Blues TBH earlier in the year. Been leading alot of matches this year even up to 3 Qtr time just haven't got consistency over 4 qtrs. We led Richmond by nearly 5 goals at one stage too. It really depends on which Hawks team turns up. The Brisbane game than its 50-50.

I rekon if you tag it will go to Newcombe which seems to be the trend coaches are going with. Bloke is already just about our best midfielder which shows how dire our midfield situation is. Nothing against the kid as he is a star but if your relying on a 20 gamer you have problems.

I doubt we'll tag in the midfield - it actually makes it harder to maintain pressure, which is our strength. We may put a defensive stopper on one of your half backs - if we're worried about any of them..

Its not all about goals buddy, it's about their involvements in setting the goals up in F50. I think Rankine himself had 7 score involvements. All the best for Sunday buddy ...

Big game for Pendles & Sidey.
Bi day, well done

The Wayne Richardson/Thommo number is pretty amazing considering Thommo played 268 games for Pies, only 14 were not with Wayne.

I wouldn't make many lineup changes except Brown out for Macrae and Brown can be the sub

I agree. You have played some very attractive footy and should have beaten Carlton which would have been a win for the ages. The Bombers did to you what Geelong did to us in the last quarter.

People suggesting Carmichael could have one training session at the club and come straight into the senior team this week 😂😂😂

Give the bloke a month to find his feet before starting this crap

He won't play first up but he's clearly physically ready and fills a need if his form permits after 2-3 VFL games. Johnny Nobes played relatively quickly from memory.

Recruited about this time in 2019. Played a couple vfl games and then debuted in round 17. Hasn't looked back.

Not sure how the SANFL stacks up against the VFL, but you wouldn't think he'd have been drafted if he isn't outperforming our 19 year old kids who are our current depth.

Exactly, if he looks good in VFL he'll get a chance later in the season but suggestions he could play this week are ridiculous

They got those looks because they got easy inside 50s all night due to the lack of pressure across the ground. Any reasonable small would be able to contribute when the ball is going in there frequently under little duress.

You can cop Geelong doing it to you as there a decent side. When it's a team that's won 2 games all year and they won by nearly 5 goals that's pretty poor. Was at that game and it was probably the worst Qtr in terms of pressure Ive seen from any side all year. Was truly Deplorable stuff. If we drop away to that level on Sunday it will get ugly. Big gap between our best and worst ATM.

Yeah not really rational.

With Macrae, I don't really have an opinion on his future. I'm more responding to what I think he is now and people saying we should be getting games into him. I think he's currently miles off.

I think Brown is also a long way off, but I've seen enough flashes, moments and improvement to imagine him becoming a good afl footballer. I'm not there yet with Finn. I'll probably change my tune when I see more of Finn.
I saw more flashes in the last quarter of Finn’s debut game against West Coast then all of Tyler’s combined games but maybe I’m not looking hard enough.

I do agree if we’re in a win now mode Tyler is less of liability atm.
