Carlton aren’t a great overlap side. They kept kicking straight to melbs zone defence. I think we are much better at providing run and overlap, and can exploit the dees using thiswe need to keep May & Lever occupied.
When adding another tall forward, the question to be asked is the balance of our forward line, not our defence. Whether we fit all of our tall defenders is a question for that line. I don't see the two as linked. So you'd rather omit a Johnson or one of the rucks to fit in McStay rather than omit that extra tall in defence like say Framption if he's not required for that weeks opposition?
While I have nothing against McStay I do question whether his contract has unexpectedly made a rod for our own back and the optics dictate he'll be straight back in the 22 despite the career best form of Mihocek, continued emergence of Johnson and rejuvenation of Cox.
Personally I think when your one wood as a team is taking the game on and busting open the opposition with your ball movement you'd want to be very careful you don't end up being to top heavy.
Obviously, that stat is BS.
Chasing somebody can be a “pressure act”.
Ginnivan did a lot of chasing, as he touched it bugger all and his opponents kept on jogging it away from his area.
Nah.
He was crap.
Probably our worst.
100% agree mate. Been saying this for a while now. McStay and AJ will play alongside each other. When adding another tall forward, the question to be asked is the balance of our forward line, not our defence. As I mentioned above, I think we'll play all of our taller forwards and rucks when McStay is back.
Don't think this has anything to do with McStay's contract and everything to do with the reason we brought him to the club. We need another key target up forward. Otherwise Mihocek again gets beat up and loses effectiveness by finals. Our quick kicks forward are too easily intercepted and rebounded - this becomes more prevalent in high pressure finals.
We'll try this out, and if we experience issues, will re-evaluate. I'm certain though McStay will be part of our best 22. It's an important stuctural move and it's clear why we think it's needed.
Ginnivan credited with 19 PAs, = 5th or 6th for the team…. just saying.
Well that’s a useless stat then!
Our game plan built on pressure and turnovers. Seems to be working okay to me.
Ginn is done
Pack it in guys, legendstatus has said so! One quiet day and it's a nail in the coffin.Ginn is done
Beau? Sent back out onto the ground?Never heard of it. If his was the worst injury, I don't understand why he was constantly testing out his foot or ankle then was sent back on the ground in the second half.
Was he successful or is he going home alone tonight?
Won’t be rested in arguably our biggest H/A game this seasonHill rest/injured
It looked a bad corky for mine.Johnson is still a wait and see for mine as he'll wake up tomorrow a very sore boy I would have thought.
Why would we rest Bobby? We're playing Melbourne. They will have already had 9 days between matches & it's a week before the bye...Hill rest/injured
WHE was on the bike having a joke with Beau on the boundary line after his assessment. He has a good chance of playing next week than a straight rule out if he was able to do that I think.WHE couldn't get up by himself, he looked really sore. hope we don't lose either player as they are very important to our side
The coaches who selected him?Anyone rate Harrison as AFL standard?
Didn’t get a chance to respond before the thread was closed GabenThe last injury update still had Lipinski as 1-3 weeks off the back of a 3+ month layoff. I can’t see him playing KB.
Taken directly from this weeks injury report. Usually best to read it rather than just look at the list.In exciting news, Patrick Lipinski and Dan McStay look set to return for our King's Birthday clash in Round 13. Lipinski will partake in full contact training over the next fortnight in a bid to be available for AFL selection. Meanwhile, McStay is also progressing along nicely with his finger injury. He'll start ball handling this week, in addition to the general speed and strength conditioning he's been working on during his rehabilitation process.
I thought he played quite well. Should have had 2 goals but for a freakishly bad bounce. His numbers were respectable for a small forward and his ball use was ok.Anyone rate Harrison as AFL standard?
Kicked 1.1 and involved in at least one other goal. Stuck some tackles. Pretty good effort first up.I thought he played quite well. Should have had 2 goals but for a freakishly bad bounce. His numbers were respectable for a small forward and his ball use was ok.
