So you'd rather omit a Johnson or one of the rucks to fit in McStay rather than omit that extra tall in defence like say Framption if he's not required for that weeks opposition?

While I have nothing against McStay I do question whether his contract has unexpectedly made a rod for our own back and the optics dictate he'll be straight back in the 22 despite the career best form of Mihocek, continued emergence of Johnson and rejuvenation of Cox.

Personally I think when your one wood as a team is taking the game on and busting open the opposition with your ball movement you'd want to be very careful you don't end up being to top heavy.
When adding another tall forward, the question to be asked is the balance of our forward line, not our defence. Whether we fit all of our tall defenders is a question for that line. I don't see the two as linked.

As I mentioned above, I think we'll play all of our taller forwards and rucks when McStay is back.

Don't think this has anything to do with McStay's contract and everything to do with the reason we brought him to the club. We need another key target up forward. Otherwise Mihocek again gets beat up and loses effectiveness by finals. Our quick kicks forward are too easily intercepted and rebounded - this becomes more prevalent in high pressure finals.

We'll try this out, and if we experience issues, will re-evaluate. I'm certain though McStay will be part of our best 22. It's an important stuctural move and it's clear why we think it's needed.

Obviously, that stat is BS.
Chasing somebody can be a “pressure act”.
Ginnivan did a lot of chasing, as he touched it bugger all and his opponents kept on jogging it away from his area.
Nah.
He was crap.
Probably our worst.

Happy for you to think all that. Just pointing out that your claim he offered zero pressure and zero intensity is clearly just wrong. Wasn't his best game but doubt he'll get dropped for it.

100% agree mate. Been saying this for a while now. McStay and AJ will play alongside each other.
Our best side will also have Mihocek, Elliott , Cox and Cameron.

Ginni on very thin ice after tonight’s insipid effort but will survive for now given other forced outs.

OUT DeGoey McCreery
IN Lipinski Elliott

If Hoskin-Elliott doesn’t get up then I’d bring in Ed Allan as his replacement.

WHE couldn't get up by himself, he looked really sore. hope we don't lose either player as they are very important to our side
WHE was on the bike having a joke with Beau on the boundary line after his assessment. He has a good chance of playing next week than a straight rule out if he was able to do that I think.

Would think most likely changes would be

Out - De Goey if rubbed out / In - Elliott
Out - Johnson (looked bad cork) / In - McStay (if ready) otherwise McInnes

Reckon WHE and McCreery get up with some strapping and pain relief 👍

The last injury update still had Lipinski as 1-3 weeks off the back of a 3+ month layoff. I can’t see him playing KB.
Didn’t get a chance to respond before the thread was closed Gaben

In exciting news, Patrick Lipinski and Dan McStay look set to return for our King's Birthday clash in Round 13. Lipinski will partake in full contact training over the next fortnight in a bid to be available for AFL selection. Meanwhile, McStay is also progressing along nicely with his finger injury. He'll start ball handling this week, in addition to the general speed and strength conditioning he's been working on during his rehabilitation process.
Taken directly from this weeks injury report. Usually best to read it rather than just look at the list.

Anyone rate Harrison as AFL standard?
I thought he played quite well. Should have had 2 goals but for a freakishly bad bounce. His numbers were respectable for a small forward and his ball use was ok.

Kicked 1.1 and involved in at least one other goal. Stuck some tackles. Pretty good effort first up.
