Pretty funny to see Kreuger appear on quite a lot of ins here after 1 strong game, only 2 weeks ago some were calling for him to be delisted!
He needs to string a few more games together to be considered imo. However, I think there is a world where he is playing down the stretch of the season.

After further thought from the game, I expect the below changes occurring over the next 4-5 weeks.

IN: Sidebottom, OUT: Hoskin-Elliott
IN: Elliott, OUT: McInnes
IN: DeGoey, OUT: Harrison
IN: McStay, OUT: Johnson
IN: Howe, OUT: Frampton

Could we go more mobile, playing Kreuger or Johnson instead of the 2nd ruck?
I like your changes if we had everyone fit (highly unlikely), I’d probably have WHE as the sub.

The only question mark for me is if we would play Frampton over Cameron. Gives us KPD coverage and a little bit more mobility with our second ruck (Cox playing first ruck).

I think Kreuger comes in for Johnson who is beginning to really show signs of folding under pressure. Dropped two critical marks as a mature player.

I don’t know why people are calling for Ginivan to come in, he hasn’t shown much or enough since his suspension.

Markov was great in his cameo and Reef competed well, was sloppy but for me definitely gets another game.

We got smashed in contested ball, I don’t understand how bringing Lippa in for Degoey, Sidey and Elliot who all can put their head over the ball was going to work out well. Should have given Macrae or Carmichael a go.

Harvey Harrison was solid and deserves another go.
Johnson a “mature player”? 😂

Experience and maturity are two separate concepts and yours is a response to someone labelling him experienced. At 25 Johnson’s in the second half of his senior football career unless he plays into his mid 30’s. It’s not unreasonable to be expecting him to play with a maturity in his game especially with the game sense he showed late v Adelaide.

That said I legitimately don’t know if the incident in question was immaturity (like Higgins dropped mark in the goal square v Hawthorn) or a skill error?

I think his game yesterday was a product of a lack of experience and maturity. Dropped a couple of marks and then seemed to drop his head and stop fighting.

Will need to do much better in the midfield clinches against Adelaide- it is their one wood and we were smashed in that area by Dees
Pendles definitely will benefit from the rest
Adams - at least when he plays forward his constant turnovers and decision errors are further away from the opposition goals

Do we need to look at Macrae ? His form doesn’t demand it but we need to fix the inside contest and not leave everything to Titch when JDG is out

Out: McInness
In: Elliot

Out Johnson (…. God, that’s like a knife through the heart; but he couldn’t match it with the monsters; again)
In McStay

Out: WHE… absolute pox today. P. O. X
In: Ryan…. Slide Noble onto a wing.

I don’t mind the prospect of Ryan getting senior opportunity this year but he was poor on Sunday. If he’s getting promoted it needs to be as reward for good VFL form.

That's attitude. Has nothing to do with how long you have been playing AFL footy.
At 25/26 yrs of age, he should understand competing and doing the hard things if the marks aren't sticking.

I think that type of stuff is subjective because what you’ve described there could well be about resilience or concentration. I don’t hold a particularly strong POV on it other than it not being laughable to suggest we should expect some football maturity from Johnson.

Is Macrae going to ever get a look in? If not, I'm assuming he is gone end of season. I'd also think Ginnivan will be back in.

I like Macrae but I think he’s waiting on Adams or Mitchell missing for his opportunity. I’d have played him yesterday instead of Harrison or Markov.

This aint a bloke like Mihocek who did multiple years in the VFL. He played half a dozen SANFL games. He really hasn't played very much footy at a decent standard.

I’m aware of Johnson’s pathway. There’s been maybe one other Mihocek in the professional age of footy so he’s unique. Johnson was extremely mature with his potentially match winning effort late v Adelaide so it doesn’t wash with me. There’s a balance there and I think you’ve found it, but Gouki didn’t, IMO.

I want to see our forward set up with all of Mihocek McStay and Johnson (who I wouldn’t rush to drop on the back of his most recent game). It would be hard for sides to cover all three.

I’m really not sure who goes out for McStay and Elliot who should both be back. I don’t think Howe will be back for Adelaide. Perhaps the week after.

I’d love to see Harrison given more game time. He shows so much promise. He’s had two decent games and would be unlucky to miss.

I also would like to persist with Markov. He has a lot of run and dash and is good for our style. He’ll he one to go though when we need to fit others back, unless more injuries force outs.

I don’t see Ginnivan getting back in easily. He’s not been able to recapture his 2022 form unfortunately.

I’d hate to be on the selection committee. It’s too hard!!

It seems to me it may be McInness v Johnson for a spot. I don't think it's ever been a 'McStay or Johnson' discussion by the club. Could McInness have a stint on a wing?

I agree I would also like to see more of Harrison. Ginnivan is a hard one to leave out. He is just a really smart footballer who can kick goals.

Johnston out after one bad game! seriously guys !
Would have Krueger as my first player in deserves a senior recall!
As usual the rest of the changes can go either way!
Would also Bing Elliott if fit!
Agreed Krueger in. Who goes out? Surely Johnson.

I wouldn't have subbed him out yesterday. In his short career he's already had his share of big moments in last quarters of big games where he'd been previously unsighted.

But in terms of his effort appearing to drop off when he was having a bad game, I suppose it comes down to whether you think that the competitiveness that makes some players go harder when they're being beaten is innate or can be learnt. I think it can be learnt.

Disagree on the McInnes point. I actually see great raw talent there, and he showed plenty in the early rounds given limited opportunity. The previous poster called out his goals ratio, yet failed to mention that he has played as the sub in a majority of his appearances this season.

Today he struggled and had a howler with that shot on goal, however I think there is real talent there and I view him as an important piece moving forward.

It's also worth noting this is really his first proper season, his first two were injury plagued.
Fair enough 👍
Do you see him as a key forward. If so, he needs to pack on 10 kg of muscle.

I really believe Quaynor would be a red hot winger.
Who can fill his spot in defence if he goes to a wing.
