I think its clear to see that Jones is not a natural footballer. For various reasons he failed in the midfield so we moved him to defence where things are a bit easier and you don't need to be a 360 degrees player but you still need to have some football nous.
Keeping the ball in when it should go out, losing your opponent, getting in position for rebounding when we get the ball. All of these things he seems to struggle at.
He has express pace (which we don't see much of) and a nice kick, but its not enough to make a career from if he can't read the game and have some football craft.
I'm happy to keep trying him in defence this year but if he doesn't improve, it's time to move on.

Drop Luke Brown and play Laird as a back pocket. Brown is older and only contracted to end of 2023. Laird is contracted to end of 2026 so we are forced to find a long term position for him.
Pick one of Crouch or Sloane to drop. Both contracted to end of 2023. Sloane is captain so he is virtually impossible to drop. Crouch dropped
Drop Himmelberg and play Thilthorpe which was the obvious decision.
Play Pedlar in the midfield. If he's not fit enough to play AFL midfield all game, play him anyway or midfield in the SANFL
Drop O'Brien for a month and play Strachan
Out: Crouch, Brown, Himmelberg, O'Brien
In: Laird, Thilthorpe, Strachan, Soligo
B Laird - Butts - Doedee

I'm not a huge Crouch fan but he was far from the worst player out there for us.

There's obvious endeavour and effort - it's issues around game IQ (which maybe gets improved for some by experience) and class.

Assuming Sloane is fit, I think it is Himmelburg for Thilthorpe, McHenry for Milera and maybe Fogarty for Laird, and we try a smaller forward line.
The lack or organisation in the forward line is killing us and we need a senior head up there. I've no idea who. We somehow need to get higher quality clearances but I have no idea how that occurs either.
Personally, I'd drop ROB too but it feels incredibly unlikely. Murray gets another week too.
