Not sure if serious. Adams did an exceptional job in that role in his last game.

Against sub par opposition. He barely played as a half back flanker he only started at the back off the square and then pushed up to the stoppage playing as an extra mid. He'll get punished by a Zorko or a Christensen if he plays that role.

I was keen to see Marsh given a go - reckon he has some leadership qualities we really lack in the back half at the moment.

Agree that I want to see him back and given a run at it, but he's coming back from repeated soft tissues injuries and this board spends most of its time complaining about our injury management, so it would be pretty hypocritical of us to complain that he isn't back in the side after not even 1 full VFL game.

fair enough, but with Reid & Brown out I felt it was a great time to give him an opportunity. Hopefully he gets through the VFL unscathed and we can see him in the one's very soon.

The problem is that by doing this it is biting off our nose to spite our face.

We may not have beaten Carlton with Cloke playing, but we may have. I think the same applies this week with Brisbane.

So I guess, what Bucks has got to weigh up is, is it worth a win to prove a point to the playing group (and Cloke)?

Buckley & even Cloke have come out and said he needs a 'solid block of form' before being considered for the ones & given he's had one crap game, one decent game and one week off in the last three, that hardly equals a solid block of form.

Reckon the coach has painted himself into a corner on this one, if he'd just said he needs to find some form he could have been available for selection last week, but now he's got no alternative but to leave Cloke wallowing in the twos.

Probably right. Bringing Cloke back when he's not performing defeats the purpose of dropping him in the first place (IMO). It's a crap situation to be in. Our marquee forward floundering in the 2s... :(
I get that Moore might become as good (or better) than Cloke ever was, but they might be more powerful together. Let's see.

It certainly should be. Our ruck performance and centre square set-ups seem to be the cause as you suggested. The quality that we have there is outstanding. Whenever we are on top in the centre, we tend to dominate games. I know this could be applied to most teams, but with our poor defensive structure and average backline personnel it is really exacerbated for us when we can't get on top in the middle.
Before we won in 2010 we didn't have a proper ruckman. Then in 2010 we get one which help us immensely. We should be aiming to get an experienced ruckman for next year to help our young brigade.

Whats Cloke going to say in this situation. Just seems bizarre to have him in the 2's unless there are other background issues we are unaware of. Our chance of winning this week is considerably less without him IMHO. Don't know what benefit we will see by not playing him. My biggest fear is that we will lose this week and struggle on the forward line. If Cloke gets a reprieve he then comes back for the Dogs and Cats where we face 2 big losses and maybe very little forward line supply. Not the ideal situation for him to step back into. Then again maybe Bucks has just closed the book on him and will leave him to play out the year in the 2's

Looking at the side, it's really hard to evaluate where Collingwood is at when we barely have or had 22 players to choose from. Added to that, some players are playing injured. It's also really weird looking at the side on paper.

The forward line consists of a number of players who are in career best form. Fasolo obviouly. Blair, White have never played better footy than they are playing now. Moore in his short career. Cox and DeGoey are going OK.

The midfield on paper is still very good. Pendles, Sidey, Adams, Treloar is very good, with horribly out of form Greenwood, Crisp. It's great to have Varcoe back.

The backline, have a look at that backline.:eek::eek: Squint, blink, double take, and look again.:eek::eek::eek::eek: It gets worse the second time when you let it sink in. That is the worst backline you will ever see take the field in black and white. Toovey at CHB, Frost at FB, that said, Brisbane have L.Taylor lined up at CHF. I do like Oxley, Smith and Maynard for the future, it's just that at full stregth all might be playing in the reserves.

I actually think we should win this game as we have a better side on paper with a few guys surprisingly playing good footy when you consider where we are at.

Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, WCE, Dogs, Adelaide, GWS for a start say Hi.

I reckon we have a better midfield than Hawthorn and perhaps Adelaide on that list and could give the others a shake. Our problem is midfield depth. Greenwood and Crisp have been insipid. Whilst Sidey got weeks, Pendles, Sidey, Adams and Varcoe all injured or carrying injuries, Treloar coming back from injury.

You make me laugh P C.......how is our top four aspirations looking at this stage?

I'm happy to engage with you in a bit of banter CFC, as long as you are mature enough to cop it on the chin when your beloved Hawks, a team as you say, you are well renowned on hear as a believer and a gloater mind you, when they start losing I still believe that at full strength we are a good football side, tThe only players who I overrated in the midfield were Greenwood, Crisp and the fringe players.

I still believe Hawthorn will fall off a cliff. As I said, happy for you to give it to me about my top four predictions, just as long as you can take a bit of your cum uppence when your Hawks start losing again.

I'm actually starting to get the feeling we are going to get the win tomorrow night, the inclusions are good but it's a shame Reid went out. Luckily Brisbane don't have the best forward line so the impact will be minimalized.
I feel the playing group will respond to the Critisism they have coped this week, what better way to respond than an away trip and a win at the gabba.
Oh and this board needs a win, at least one week of reprieve!

Prior to 2010 we didn't have three quality ruckmen in development. We had one...cam wood...who was a bust. We don't need to trade one in, we just need patience.
