Yeah but if Lobb is allowed to roam he could be dangerous. He can be used to either break out of defense or lock it into the forward line.
I don't think it is that simple. It's got the fit into the structure and you don't want the land of the giants otherwise you can't lock the ball in.

I'm fine with him playing if fit and no doubt we will use him down the line, but he is easily good enough as the 2nd ruck. At that point, literally any other type of player is more valuable than Meek.

I don’t agree with that statement.
It is also apparent that Lobb is not the most physical player getting around.
Large fairy would be unkind but probably not far off the mark.
Meek got badly bullied by McEvoy last week. Don't think he registered a hitout in the entire first term. Lobb would do better I can confidently say.

I think it shows far more integrity to make Lobb earn a spot. In a good side with competition for spots a bloke who's coming off a knee shouldn't be a walk up start.

Ps, I don't dispute your assessment of his performances last year, thought he battled hard in a forward line that received appalling service.

I disagree with this. At what club would a top ten player have to work their way in over a guy that played 53% game time last week?

I’m sorry but there isn’t any.

Darcy is a better ruck in forward stoppages than Lobb, so Lobb positions a kick up the ground if they rush a kick out. That's where Meek was anyway.

Then Darcy also rucks in the center bounce.

I think Meek brings the physical pressure at the bounce more than Lobb.

Tricky

Only if you’re talking about it from a pure ruck perspective. Reality is that Darcy will take more ruck minutes than anyone else in our team so you’re weighing up whether Lobb or Meek is a better forward. That isn’t even a question whatsoever.

Have we played Meek as a forward so we are able to compare him to a guy who averages 1 mark per quarter?
I don't think so.

I think the idea of Lobb forward is really attractive but the output doesn't match the expectation.

Worth a listen

Tucker to play Peel reserves. Interesting use of Peel reserves this year to get very basic minutes into guys

Think Logue and Lobb come in at a minimum

Scared of playing the returning players at Pingelly. Worried about a 2 hour drive may not be good for players with LTI’, ....... how different is that from doing a one hour drive in city traffic, to get to the game.

Anyway, the reserves game has just had the standard of play lifted.

meek’s follow up work is 1st rate, Lobb not so much.Lobb is a bit lazy imo
Might be over selling him a bit there, he looks good sometimes but stats don't flatter him at all. I aint saying he's useless. Ruckman development cycle takes quite a few years really. But Lobb as it stands offers much more in every aspect of the game.
