People really prefer Harmes to McCrae?? In what Universe is he a better player - was a spud at Melbourne but at the dogs the second coming of Libba??
I prefer Macrae to Harmes, but Macrae hasn't shown a lot or versatility outside being an inside mid. Harmes seems to be primarily a Wing/HFF option. I'd like to see Macrae on a Wing playing a hard running role circa Angus Brayshaw

McCrae should be playing 1000 percent, gives more forward minutes to Bont,

Daniel and Dale utilities off the bench,

Duryea isn't needed unfortunately playing well though

I believe we should try a forward strategy of 2 full forwards and 2 chf split by the smalls in the middle

FF:Marra west Darcy
HF: Naughton Flea Lobb
C: Gallagher Sanders baker
R:English Bont Libba
HB Williams buku JJ
FB:Red Jones Bramble
Int: Treloar, daniel macrae, Dale Sub Poulter / vdm

We need to rotate our mids and our tall ruck forwards more create more chaos in the forward

Bont absolutely dominates whenever he gets a 'lighter' load the week before. It's a long season.
I'd absolutely give Bont & Libba a couple less CBAs per game and get Macrae to take them instead. It also means in the last, Bont and Libba should be a little fresher when/if the game is on the line.

Vdm I actually haven't minded him and almost was tempted to say Dale because he hasn't started well I also think we should rotate Dale through the forward line because when he's been there in the past he has kicked bags at times

I’d still like to bring in JOD for Duryea this week despite there being no VFL game. We need to start getting used to that structure for when it’s going to be very important.

Although Khamis has done well, I’d like to see him more freedom as an interceptor rather than having to mark a dangerous forward first. Although the Bombers are missing Wright, I’d prefer to give JOD a run against someone like Harrison Jones first up to get used to a different structure.

Bevo needs to read the art of war he loves his stories, we need misdirection for the enemy , but know exactly what we are

Like play english at the first centre bounce then play him forward 60 percent of the game

Why is it time to drop him if you aren't sure how well he's defending?
I don't know if he's been beating his opponent most weeks, verses his obvious positive offensive contributions. If it's not favourable, he's easily droppable. I don't have the knowledge of those statistics.

Time to drop JJ. I don't know how well he is doing defensively tbh. Feel like he's in list clogger territory. Could be important if we make finals so gets a string of games late (if in form)
JJ has had a terrific start to the season. Geez were quick to turn on blokes after one average performance.

Been a bit of talk about the sprinting VDM does. He could have a post football career as an Olympic sprinter. Individual events only, no relays. Just saying.
Most sprints for all 18 teams this week.
  • WBD: Vandermeer (37)
  • GEE: Touhy (27)
  • MEL: Pickett (26)
  • ESS: Martin (25)
  • WCE: Hunt (24)
  • CAR: Cottrell (24)
  • BRI: K.Lohmann (23)
  • GCS: Ainsworth (23)
  • COL: Elliot (23)
  • SYD: Campbell (22)
  • STK: Wilson (22)
  • HAW: Mitchell (22)
  • FRE: Sharp (22)
  • ADE: N.McHenry (21)
  • POR: Houston (20)
  • GWS: Whitfield (20)
  • RIC: Rioli (19)
  • NOR: Dawson (15)
Maybe the question isn't how would we replace VDM's sprinting but rather why does our structure need a bloke sprinting on average 70% more times in a game that others teams highest sprinting player. I wish we'd just back our midfield in and not roll the extra up to the stoppage so we could play 6 forwards on the opposition 6 defenders.

I get real Jason Tutt vibes from VDM. Some good attributes. A lot more aggressive than Tutt ever was. Same fumbly mess under pressure though.

For all the positives Vandemeer brings (sprinting?!😅) there's an endless list of negatives.

Fumbly ball handling, 16% goal kicking accuracy, costly turnovers, completely ruining golden goal scoring opportunities and broken tackles.

He just needs to be dropped.
Pretty much, can't recall any of those sprints creating actual pressure of any sort.

You been watching with a blindfold on?

Even just the small match highlight packages show several rundown tackles by VDM that his teammates either didn’t attempt or didn’t have the pace to complete. Then there’s the others that were available in real viewing time.

For all the poor things he’s done over the last fortnight, you can’t seriously claim he’s applied no pressure?

not arguing for or against, but here are the numbers - pressure and score involvement is as good an indication of offensive and defensive involvement youll get from 2 simple numbers I reckon.

Vanda not fantastic for helping us score, but if you want to poke fingers, Dale (2 SI) and particularly Bramble (0 SI), gave us not much either way.

37 sprints last game - the next best was 27 (and no other Bulldogs in the top 5).
It's not the 80s anymore.
all well and good to be able to run. I would take a bloke with footy iq over someone that can run bit that is just me. I don't see what VDM offers at all. FWIW this is the team i would love to see this week.

Richards Jones Duryea
JJ Buku Dale
Gallagher Bont Baker
Daniel Naughton Cody
West JUH Darcy
English Libba Treloar
Macrae Sanders Garcia Bramble
SUB wiliiams

Williams as Sub gives pretty good flexibility. He can play numerous positions so if an early injury can swing things around.

Bont to play a bit more forward. Would be happy to see 60/40 mid forward. He would be a luxury to have there especially when Tim or Darcy are resting on the bench.

Taller opponents I would play JOD over Bramble. Duryea to the bench. or if people want Bramble over Duryea i could deal with that
