GWS should be confident. They've beaten us twice this year and have a game style we struggle with. That said, we can beat them because our best is better than every other team in the comp, it is just a matter of can we play at our best longer than them.
We outplayed them for longer in our game against them a few weeks ago at the Gabba. We generated more than enough opportunities to win by at least a few goals. It's likely going to come down to us capitalising on our shots. Surely our kicking won't be as bad as it was in that game.

Beating Collingwood twice last year didn't mean anything in the GF.

Hey all, we are looking at 2 cars driving from Melbourne to the game. Anybody who has been, what is the parking like around the area. Do they have plenty of places for free parking or is it all stuff you need to prebook ? Cheers

There's very little free parking in the area. If you want that, look at parking near Concord West train station and walking over - it's about a 20-30 minute walk. Another option for free parking is near Lidcombe train station and get the shuttle train over. Other than that you'll be looking at paid parking and definitely pre-book that, it's cheaper and safer. It all gets worse again if there's any NRL finals on the Saturday (haven't checked their schedule).

We are driving down for this one, leaving Friday morning, staying near Newcastle Friday night.

Has anyone heard what time tickets go on sale for members tomorrow?

Also do we use the same barcodes we used for last night to purchase tickets?
Giving it some serious thought.

Parramatta is reasonably close is it not, just for a cheap bed for the night?

Yep. There's a couple of direct buses from there to Olympic Park too. But to be honest I'd try and find somewhere cheap near Central - more options and the train links are easier to get out of the precinct late at night.

So what are your thoughts on this game?

Parking shouldn't be too bad because no NRL game, food will be decent, lines will probably be long to get food and get into the stadium, sightlines are pretty much all good, don't bother sticking around in Olympic Park after.

We are staying at Ibis Olympic Park on game night, we should get there early afternoon... no good places to eat around there? Decent pub meal would be fine.

This will be the first time we wear our yellow clash strip in a final. Potentially some juju we are yet to unlock during finals there.
why would we wear a clash strip? what between red/maroon, blue and yellow clashes with orange/grey/white?

There's a pub on the park opposite Accor now, and a few restaurants scattered around the Ibis. They'll all be packed so I'd suggest making a reservation if you can.

Straight down from Ibis on Dawn Fraser Avenue you can get to Novotel. There are a few spots there for pub meal as well as Maccas, Oporto etc.

If you're driving you can keep going and get into DFO Homebush, which will be another 5 minute drive from Novotel. Could be a bit busy on the weekend but they have food court etc.

The Canterbury-Manly game was expected to be played next Saturday night and would have been if the Sea Eagles were hosting.

But with the game now being played at Accor Stadium, the NRL didn’t want it to clash with the GWS-Brisbane AFL game at the same precinct next Saturday night.

For that reason the clash was moved to Sunday and Cowboys-Knights game was moved to the Saturday night slot, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

It means the winner of the Bulldogs-Sea Eagles clash will have a two-day shorter turnaround for their semi-final against the loser of the Panthers and Roosters, who will kick off the finals series at Penrith on Friday night.

The Storm-Sharks qualifying final will be played on Saturday in Melbourne when there are no AFL finals being played.

I just booked an Ibis, but not that one.
How big is the Stadium?
Hope I get tickets! 😫

23,500
Record AFL crowd 22,000 in 2017 Giants v Swans
22,100 BBL in 2023

I'm so tempted to go for this one but my watching live record isn't good.
Decisions, decisions.

Sydney member here.

I’m after 3 member numbers for wife and two friends for Saturdays game against GWS.

Would be super grateful if any Lions members would be able to share their member numbers to help me get 3 tix tomorrow.

Send me a PM if you can help. Thanks!
Giants members are eligible for 4 tickets for a single barcode so can buy all 4 with your membership.
