I would bring in L Young for English to float forward and play back if needed and chop out in the ruck, I felt the three tall forward set up were getting in each others way. Play Smith more inside mid and put Lipinski on the wing, watched Garcia for the first time this week, boy he is a skilled terrier, need that against the Tigers.
Out English in Young
Out Dunkley in West
Out Jong in Lipinski
Out Scott in Garcia

Other option is that Hunter/Smith play less forward/outside, and we bring in Hannan as opposed to two of Lipinski/West/Garcia/Wallis, which I don't think is the worst idea.

Wallis in the middle intrigues me. I think his inside work turned the VFL game on Thursday. Could he be the Dunkley replacement. Hard as a cat's head. Negligible speed difference. Both terrible kicks. Equivalent overhead. Hard worker defensively. Could he be an 80% Dunkley?
Do we need a direct replacement?

Bont, Macrae, Libba, Treloar, Smith will fight it out for 3 spots in the centre square. West surely comes in and around the ground pushes up near the ocntest, and Hunter ran through the middle during pre-season this year and last.

Hannan will be in when fit, but he seemed to be on restricted minutes on Thursday night so is probably a week or two away.

I wouldn't be opposed to Weightman getting a chance. We were flat as a tack for much of the GWS game and he brings his own energy. It would add a different dimension to our structure forward of the ball.

I like your changes. Wally is very experienced and Sweet would be a good back up. Schache could also be in the equation.

Why are people having Sweet in this side this week. English has played forward mostly this year Sweet at this stage does not have the skill set of a forward player yet.

If you go by AFL/VFL form you’d expect it would be

Out
English, Dunkley and Jong

In
Sweet, Lipinski and West

But the selection committee always likes to throw curveballs to keep everyone on there toes so I think it will be

In
Young, Hayes and Wallis

West and Lipinski should come in.

Not sure how we replace Tim. Not sure if Martin has the legs to ruck alone these days but in the same vein, I'm not sure a partnership between Sweet and Martin works. Schache, JUH and Sweet all have a case.
Schache comes in too maintain forward structure. JUH's tank isn't up too AFL standard yet and don't think Bevo will bring him in.
If MD is right then think Sweet comes in to partner Martin don't feel he can Solo ruck a whole game

Jong clearly came into the team to combat Haynes aerial threat on the wing. Ironic they both went down injured.

Richmond don’t have that wing aerial threat. I wonder if Louis butler might get that wing gig.

Smith doesn't have the defensive ability to cover Dunks, and Treloar is absolutely thriving playing an outside game rather than the inside role he played at the Pies.

Would rather bring in West and give him good midfield minutes if we want a close replacement, or give Lipinski his time (despite his defensive game not being a strength).
Lips game in the VFL was exactly the way Dunks plays so it would be a perfect like for like IF lip is played in the middle. Big if.

You do realise we're not going to cover English or dunks with exact like for like players? If we had like for like, they'd already be in the team.

Will need to cover then not only with direct replacements but others on the team picking up 5% here and there.

I think we can cover it. Been talking up our depth for weeks.

Out:
Dunks
Yong
English
VDM
Scott

In:
Lips
West
Schache
McNeil
Garcia/Butler/Wallis

Sweet won't replace English.

Just running with 2 tall forwards and Bruce taking back up ruck duties Mutt? I wouldn’t mind having a look at that either.
