Maybe bring Scharenburg in for Blair.

But fair enough. Ran GWS close and are playing an injury ravaged Hawthorn who are a shell of themselves. Basically inexperienced kids and geriatrics. Lose this and it could snowball badly.

I think people are getting a little irrational about this. They are missing a few but can't be going too bad if they can afford to play Sicily in the magoos. It's not like Whitecross, Vickery and Duryea are inexperienced replacements either. Even Brand has shown he's no mug at CHB. Rioli is actually the only significant out of the 4 players to miss.

Ok fine but at 17th and a loss would be 2-7 you can't deny the shit will well and truly spin off the fan in all directions. Especially here.

Still not convinced on the Hawks. Were terrible in the first month before beating an inept and lazy Melbourne and a shithouse Brisbane.

Whos the most likely to help Darcy Moore as a key forward?

Taller down back with Goldsack, Dunn, Schade, Howe (not huge at all) but no key fwds?

Surprised Mason Cox didnt get named

or has Nathan Buckley spun the magnets and decided to go small and quick vs the hawks slow backline - could be a master move that hangs his career right now
I think this is a make or brake game for NB.
Lose & its curtains for NB, win & ... well ahh, ummmm it's still curtains for NB.
So he has nothing to lose or gain...
So he may as well go crazy with team selection & game plan.
Could be unrestrained creative genius at its best.

Can people stop suggesting that howe to play forward, extremely dumb
He is one of the better backmen in the league atm.
Also i have a sneaky feeling goldsack will be a late out as he went for scans yesterday.

Thanks Sandra.

Suprised we didn't bring in Cox, but to be honest I am glad we didn't.
Treloar an automatic in obviously, but I thought we could have seen Scharenberg given a go.

I would play Howe up forward this week. Out of the goal square and Moore at CHF.
Dunn, Schade and Goldsack can play on Roughead, Gunston and Vickery.
Greenwood to run with Mitchell/Burgoyne or even Hodge.

How I would like to see us line up:

B - Goldsack Schade Maynard
HB - Adams Dunn Aish
C - Wells Pendlebury Treloar
HF - WHE Moore Sidebottom
F - Elliott Howe Fasolo
R - Grundy DeGoey Greenwood
INT - Crisp Phillips Smith Blair

I'd rather leave Howe playing the intercept role in defence. Not sure why people think we'd be so much better forward with Howe (190cm) or Dunn (192) when we've already got DeGoey (191). Brand aside, their only other KPD options are Burton (191) and Gibson (189).

He was no good at Melbourne in either position. He'd probably kick 80 goals a year but we'll never know because our coach doesn't like change.

He has moved him forward for periods of games this year with little or no effect.

On form of the previous couple of seasons, shit will hit the fan on here even if we win.

Goldsack set to withdraw.
Heard that early this morning. Could be correct, which opens the door for.........

Knowing our selection history, a 7 foot Cox that can't take a mark in the wet.......

Logic would be Scharenburp in.

I love the guy (in a pure non-prison movie sort of way) but it's a very sad state of affairs when we can't win without an honest average footballer. IN another time, I'd liken it to me saying we can't win in 1990 because Micky Gayfer is a late withdrawl

Does anyone remember the 3 emergencies for out GF win of 1990.

Paul Hawke (never even played one game that season)
Shane Kerrison (who came in for Alan Richardson)
Ron McKeown

  • Interesting fact: the exact 20 that played that day and became premiership heroes never ever played together as a 20 in any previous game and never did again as the same 20 in any future game

He will get a go soon enough.

Felt for Ronny McKeown that day.
Can still see the forlorn figure standing inside the players race with a blank expression as the MCG collectively realised that Collingwood would be Premiers.
Ala Bob Murphy last year...except Ronny was fit...just wasn't selected by Leigh Mathews (after playing most of the season, 20 games).

Maybe BringouttheGimp is in the employ of the club. His job is to say so many outlandish things that the more reasonable among us will recoil at his sentiments and revert to a pro-club position.

Sorry Gimp, just a theory. Keep up the good work.:thumbsu:

Why would someone 'reasonable' have to resort back to a pro-club position?

He has been named an emergency so it's possible we're going to wait and see how the weather unfolds on Saturday.

This is fairly obvious and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more - we were screwed when he played in the wet vs Carlton, it would be foolish to play him in similar conditions but were it to fine up he would be far more useful than a Blair.

Now there's a victim of circumstance - would've been an automatic selection 12 months prior. Problem was we were a bit one paced with him and Shaw in the middle

And if, it was 22 in a side you'd think he would be a certainty for his versatility alone. Shame.
And Paul Hawke would have played all year too if 22 I reckon

Hopefully we learnt from the Essendon and Carlton games that he is one Cox who doesn't like it wet.
