About Richards.... I don't think I've ever seen a player survive for so long while under performing in my time watching the Dogs.
Eade used to have his favorites but they'd never last this long.

...
I respect your opinion mate but you've obviously missed the point with Richards.

I know it hasn't been mentioned much around here, but he's quick. And Holy Bontempelli don't we need some quick!

Ed's not just quick, he's lightning quick. ⚡
Faster than a speeding bullet quick.

He's so quick that the TV cameras don't even pick him up. In fact he's so quick that when the statisticians blink they miss his impact on the game.

We've got to persist with quick players.

Out: Gard... wait hes been ok!

Out: Lloyd
In: Dale or Cav

Wouldnt mind seeing doc back as well but think our defense has been good the last two games its our offense letting the team down. Dale can actually kick it through the big sticks when given a chance

Strongly endorse this.

Lloyd has completely jumped the shark.

To my eye we played 3 players last night that aren't up to AFL standard, and i don't really see the potential in them to become AFL standard. So they are my outs

Out: Gardner, Lloyd, Hayes
In: Schache, Cavarra (both stiffed to be dropped when they were) and one of the Youngs

Would drop out Lloyd for another small forward.

I think Hayes has effectively been given Lipinski’s spot. Would swap back when we’re confident Lipinski has coppped his lesson.

I’d say consider Schache for Bruce but that will never happen.
I'm not sure Lipinski's problem is needing a lesson. He seems to apply himself pretty well, gets a fair bit of the footy each week and mostly uses it very well.

His problem is he's slow. That doesn't mean he won't have a career but none of our top 4 midfielders are terribly quick. Our next best (and improving fast) is Bailey Smith who has a good burst but plays so much in heavy traffic that we don't get to see much of it. Even our outside hard-running midfielders are not much more than average speed (eg Hunter, Hayes).

So Lipinski's problem is that he doesn't fit into our mix right now. He's certainly good enough to have a career but we need to find out what that role is. Plenty of slow players have had good careers. Some have even won Brownlows.

I don’t doubt that he tries but I don’t think he gets dropped for team balance because of pace. He can put in some very relaxed efforts with disposal and tackling. Obviously we aren’t in the inner sanctum but my guess is that he and Dale are both paying some penance.

You could be right but my impression was that he missed tackles in open play because he's so slow in the first 5 metres, not for want of effort (although it might have looked that way). He gets more of his tackles in heavy traffic. His disposal is one of his big assets though, especially by foot. That skill never goes out of fashion.

Dale's a different story. He has more pace but was carrying an ankle injury for a while and hasn't been very prolific this year.
I'm OK with him being out of the side right now but his 20-odd goals from 5-6 games last year wasn't all fluke. It would be a pretty handy contribution right now if he could find that form again.

I'd still be wanting a look at Greene or Cavarra before Dale though.

Yea id have Lippa back in for Hayes but think Hayes plays a pretty good role for the team. More defensive than Lippa is and seems to be up and down the wing. Real line ball between those two

Why was Cavarra dropped in the first place? Mind boggling when we have butter fingers Bruce bringing everything to ground
I think Bruce might have been struggling to concentrate on the entire message: "Josh if you can't take the grab I want you to bring the ball to ground"

He only heard the bit in italics.

Gotta give credit to him - he carried out those instructions to the letter.

Imagine if...
1) We made the most of our forward entries (our field kicking elsewhere is great);
2) We kicked straighter;
3) Brucey held a couple more marks;
4) JJ made slightly less errors than currently making;
5) Richards regains forms now;
6) The umps didn't deny Timmy English marks or give soft frees against him in defence.

We'd beat Hawks by 15 goals!
All in all I agree but....
Imagine if.... when Bruce did take a mark.
He didn’t bang it out on the full by foot and by hand. I’m all for sticking with players that are down on confidence,
But let’s be real, win two more games we must. Bruce out Dale in.

The "Wise Woman" has a day off today, so the changes will have to wait until she can read the cards and scan the tea leaves, she
did tell me last week that Alistair Clarkson has fallen from his throne as king and been demoted to fool, but she was in a trance
at the time and gave no obvious context as to which game.
I hope we get more frees and trigger Clarkson to relive the hell that was the 2016 semifinal 😀

Ha. At least his effort is there. He's like a nervous u10 at times. Like he's nervous cause he's Dad's there. He always annoyed me when we played the Saints as he was so good against us (probably why we got him) so he has ability. Can't wait till he and the team played to potential :)

The Michael Frost recruitment process

OUT: Hayes, R. Smith, Lloyd, Bruce
IN: Cavarra, Greene, Dale, Schache
Just a restructuring of the forward line really. Need more blokes who are natural forwards and stop playing mids up there. Bruce and Lloyd have been horrible this season so time for a spell for them. Could have been Richards out instead of either Smith or Hayes, but I just feel he is better than both of them, and has more upside so is worth persisting with. Vandermeer would play ahead of Richards anyhow. Weightman could also have been picked over any of those forwards who I have brought in

FB: Crozier, Gardner, Cordy
HB: Williams, Keath, Johannisen
C: Hunter, Bontempelli, Richards
HF: Dale, Schache, Greene
FF: Cavarra, Naughton, Wallis
FOL: English, Macrae, Dunkley
INT: Daniel, Smith, Liberatore, McLean
I like this team but would change Richards. Needs another kick up the backside. VDM perfect replacement if fit but don’t think he is.
