What’s Tucker done wrong to deserve being dropped?
He was crap. Looked completely confused the last two weeks. Like Howe, he’s played 100 odd games and might have found his level. Shiels a better option this year on exposed form, maybe Hall (ugh) will play higher up the ground? Want Bergman in but I guess the VFL side got smashed. Persisting with a pretty slow backline…

If Drury goes well again surely kayne’s spot is under threat. At least we’re trying something new up forward, Simpkin back helps heaps, and Phillips is stiff but maybe getting leather poisoning in the twos won’t hurt him. Scott and Taylor stay in because they are among the few that run both ways all day.

Our forward line lacks any sort of movement so we decide to bring in a guy whose movement is about as good as an iceberg (CCJ). Free has had just as many shots on goal in the last 3 weeks as CCJ and he has actually taken more marks.

Turner retains his spot for god knows what reason.

Howe out is the only positive.

Tucker and Phillips didn’t really deserve to be dropped.

The ongoing selection of a guy who was delisted last year for good reason - but who then some how got a reprieve - and then somehow got selected to play round 1 - has averaged:

  • just 0.7 tackles inside 50 (below ave)
  • a just OK 15 pressure acts (ave)
  • just 8 possessions per game.

And he's kicked just ONE goal for the year.

Some will say he is the least of our problems. It's beside the point, he's not performing and shouldn't be in the side. It sends a bad message to the list when an underperforming spud keeps getting picked. Every player on the list under 189cm should feel aggrieved that they're missing out for this guy. You don't need any experience playing as a pressure forward to be a better bet than spud Turner. It's a new low in NMFC selection.

Tucker been a bit anonymous recently but wouldn't call him bad. Rough on Phillips, but makes sense now why clarko immediately brought him up (and talked him up) when questioned about Comben. Howe? fine with his dropping.

As for the ins. Shiels I'm fine with, Jy it's great to see I just hope he's actually good to go. CCJ though is a bit bloody baffling.
