FFS I am Glad BF does not run the Crows,
Crows Need Balance and Winners Not Wingers and Losers
And remember winners come in all shapes and sizes and Yes that mean females
The problem in the past they have had some good financial winners but in the football-related areas the club has come up short.
Those guys needed replacing Some have been but there a couple more that should follow, But you don't burn down the house to remove a few rats that is pure stupidy, and that is what you perennial cellar-dwellers constantly do,

It is interesting that the people with previous AFL and Football experience are at the forefront in creating all of the problems in the Crows yet some want to replace the non football people with more of them.

Balance and winners that's what we need not wingers and losers.
I want winners to assist in running the Club whether they have previous AFL experience or don't
I see what you're saying and I agree.

No one at the club could be classified as a "winner" under any relevant criteria, so scrap them all!

Those who have involved in professional sport for less than... *checks Doedee's draft year* ... let's say 5 years, haven't had the chance to be winners yet, so they can stay.

All the other losers - gone!

I don't give a sh*t if they're "winners". what a nebulous term that means absolutely noting.

I want highly competent people running the club.
Well for the last 20years in the football department we have had Competent People and some losers, and that has not helped.
We need Winners in the Football Department, People who want to win. not happy to classed as competent in the job.
If you want success then you reach out and take it you own it. and never be happy with just competent.

Do you have the faintest idea what you're actually trying to say? You want people replaced, but only the non-winners and you seem to think that everyone else wants to replace only the winners with non-winners and keep the existing non-winners. Maybe take a breath and re-post something remotely sensible.

Yes I do I know exactly what I am saying and I am glad that BF does not run My Club. Yes, I want people replaced but not mass changes in one go, like a few here want. there needs to be a balance when a business or a club changes direction, without it you are destined to fail.
The Club has had some winners financially they are moving in the right direction and had some wins, however, Men's football-wise we have failed,
this year we made some changes to start the direction change, and there will be a few more later this year, at the board level.
But a clean sweep of CEO. CMO anyone in a managerial role and the Board will not help the club, it will destroy the club
So maybe you and others need to take a beath. and look forward.

The Club at this time is a two-headed beast, Financially they going OK, in Other areas non-Men Football they are going OK. So we do have some Winners at the Club. We also have a few Plodders in those areas aswell,
However it's our Football department that needs a lift, we started recently with some changes, we need a few more (board level)

Disagree STRONGLY on the idea we've had competent people. We've had utterly incompetent people running this club into the ground.

So you're saying that you think Fagan, Chappy and Roo should stay? To make it easier to understand, how about you simply list the people that you think should be moved on.

Nothing matters except on field success
of the Crows.

And financially we were not that sound. We couldn't have been spending the full footy cap. Even before the sackings, the only non-rookies employed into their roles were Hart and Doc. There is almost no doubt that our side dalliances are sucking cash from our footy dept. I doubt we'd spend any more than the minimum player salary cap as well. That's why the CEO and CFO sit in both football strategy and list management committees.

Controversial opinion:
Rucci's article is excellent.

I thought it weak. Premise was good. Stick a quick jab into Fagan but didn't work the body after that. Failed to ask why the financial controller sits on both football strategy and list management committees. If you want to identify a clear cultural and structural problem, having the head bean counter involved in football direction, both being regulated by spending limits, is where you start.

Sounds like you should write an article ;)
Seriously, though, when was the last time a South Australian journalist actually wrote a long-form critique of something at the Crows?

Did I say that I seem to recall that I mention that a few of the Board need to move on, but not all of them, my view are around who we bring in as Jim McDowell has gone replaced by Warren Randall, that leaves Hazel and Chapman who are Going at the end of the year so too me its more about who we bring in, I am Hoping that Grant Kelley come in maybe Shaun Rehn,
The Club needs some stability in rebuilding its financial strength, Hence why I believe Fagan Stays.
Note with Hazel and Chapman moving on that's 2 of the more financially savvy people the club has so keeping Fagan on is a no Brainer. And we need to keep Fennel.
Then in 2021, we look at Fagan, considering the club has performed pretty good financially during his time, his experience may be helpful in bringing the club back financially.
As for Roo if he moves on so be it, either way the new Chairman will rain him in or move on. As it was his area that the Club performed badly in, the Football Department.

Re Football Dept we have a new Coach a New Football Manager and a new Medical Manger even though he was there last year.
in 2021 we need to look at assistant coaches. Nicks needs to build his team,
And Kelly needs to assess his Football Dept team and lead them, lets see how they perform without Burton and Roo's interference.

You're as delusional as the people you are backing.

I think there's only so far you can go with slamming Fagan in regard into the Gibbs fiasco - it's 98% Reid's "work" that landed him here.

Remember, twelve months earlier when Reid proudly announced Gibbs wanted to be traded to the Crows before Carlton even had a whiff of it - they had obviously been in contact a while. He knew of Gibbs off-field issues and why he wanted to come (and ultimately should have realized they were the wrong reasons to get him).

You reckon Fagan had anything to do with Gibbs & Tex meeting at a cafe that happened to be filmed just prior to that announcement? Much more likely to be Reid & Roo getting Tex on board to sound him out.

Then prior to the following trade period Reid low-balled McGovern in the contract talks, lying to his face that there was no money left in the kitty when it was being set aside for the fat contract Gibbs ended up getting. He knew what he was doing, he knew he was taking us back to the trade table for Gibbs long before Fagan had said anything.

Fagan's statement was the icing on a very bad cake that was Reid's making - after 12 months of speculation and p!ssfarting around he could have (and should have) stepped in to put a stop to this madness and did it in the exact wrong way, that's where he failed. I guess that in itself raises a few uneasy questions.

Reid's failures in contract management basically speaks for itself, it's not the only thing but as many have said here it's a key reason to how we have got ourselves into this horrendous mess. All those big contracts to ageing, underachieving players have been penned in his office.

Only the Men's Football Department has been run into the ground in other Area the Club has been performing strongly,

"the only thing failing is the reason our club exists"

genius comment there.

Also I really don't understand this idea that we're performing well financially because facts don't back it up.

We should be a financial powerhouse of the AFL, same as West Coast. Instead we're only a middling financial power who constantly wastes money on ventures that will not be profitable such as AFLW, baseball and esports.

Rucci's story in the Indaily magazine is interesting

Interesting, but some of what was said (and not said) has the stink of the boys club about it... (although part of it is sourced from the interview with Chapman, so maybe not a huge surprise then).

No mention of how Rendell wanted to trade out Tippett but was overruled by Trigg and the fall out during Chappy's tenure? Sounds awfully similar to the Jenkins scenario to me.

Pyke was right in wanting more speed in the midfield, it's a deficiency we all knew about as soon as Danger left - the problem was Hamish picked Galluchi, the guy he should have picked burned us two weeks ago wearing a Brisbane jumper (Berry).

Looking forward to part three examining the board and front office.

Don't forget Fagan. Sits on list management and football strategy committees and has a vote at the board table. And then involves himself with the day to day decisions. He's as influential as anyone at the club.

I don't see Fagan as all that up front and influential. Reckon he is more a desk jockey. But who knows how he is helping to shape the club. What I do know is that under Chapman we have sunk. What I can also see is that in Roo's time we have strengthened the boys club and the absolute disaster of some matey appointments has resulted in the complete disintegration of the football department. Just walk away Chapman. Don't use your time to attempt to manufacture a parting feel good charade that looks to save your professional standing. No more Chardonnay stuff. We need new people with new ways to redevelop the club for itself and not just have a club that is shaped and operates to suit its incumbents.

yeah maybe we can continue with the past 20 year AFC catch cry of 'wel there's always next year'. Don't try to polish up where we are as a club. We are rock bottom and just being feel good positive won't turn things around. This is serious !

Chapman’s biggest failing however is he will leave the club without a home. The move to Adelaide Oval was a once in a lifetime opportunity to leverage the club in a position to have a city base with league leading facilities for players and staff.

Instead he’ll leave us being a club run from a construction site.
