AUS 0/97 (20) - just 16 from the last 5 overs

Seems like we haven't learnt from Game 2. Run rate is way too slow.
LoL

You cant be serious

Good to see Watson batting where he should be batting (top 4).

Rate rate isn't a worry to me at this stage, wickets in hand is the key. Voges will bowl today and bowl well.

Would have liked to have seen Watson front up to Bond.
yep, he has little to no chance to prove himself against this attack.

he needs match play against quality bowling, not to mention the flatness of the track.

this won't help him at all if he is to be opening in the west indies.

What was the point opening with Jaques when we needed to give Watson or Haddin 3 opportunities before the World Cup to become accustomed to opening for Australia in Gilchrist's absence?

2 to 1 is 3.00, do you just mean 2.00?

Good odds though, even yesterday they were around the 1.65 mark.

Your bet's home BTW, I lost $10 on NZ when I saw their odds drift a fair bit.

Because WATSON is a HACK and HADDIN wont open at The WC anyway.

JAQUES is an opening batsman

And Jaques isnt going to the WC.Watson is an opener because he is a total hack @ 7.

The quality of the attack is diminished, but getting time in the middle is really going to help Watson, both in terms of confidence and form.

What today might be doing is showing which of these two should be opening with Gilly;

My current team, assuming no Lee and Symonds.

Gilchrist (Haddin in his absence)
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hodge
Hussey
White (Symonds if fit)
Hogg
Bracken
Tait (Lee if fit)
McGrath

4 full time bowlers, plus Watson. Can use White, Hodge, Clarke and even Hussey if required.

Symonds will bat at 5 if fit.

Hayden 49 (81)
Watson 65 (63)

Good knock by Robot thus far, albeit in a dead rubber against a weak attack.

I suppose the bigger question is what happens when Gilly comes back into the squad? What is the intention of the selectors, given Robot's uselessness at 7.

Makes a mockery of opening with Jacques in the first two games, unless there is no chance of Robot opening in the WC (ie Hayden untouchable)

EDIT: Put the mozz on him
