On Bay13 someone suggested re-nicknaming him 'Jaffa'. Wish I'd thought of that :)

I wish him luck against all comers except ourselves.

Oddly enough my very first thought was "gee I wonder what Daniel Motlop would think of moving to Sydney for 2011".

Or anyone else on our list that he knows front to back, not good, I can see choco pulling the rug from under us and trying to bring some port boys up to bankstown

well if he does that, we should have a good idea who, as he'll be in Adelaide doing it.. He sure as **** won't take them to Bankstown to sell them on moving to Bankstown.

Good luck Choco.

I dont want to be cynical, but I will.

What is it that has attracted him to GWS?

I thought the lure of a 'big' Victorian club was what he wanted.

Sorry, but whilst he was our Senior coach he should never have been selling himself to other clubs.

Treggers would love Bankstown. He won't even have to bother finding his own fights, they'll find him.

As much as I love Motlop GWS taking him as their one PAFC uncontracted player would be a HUGE win for us.

I am far more concerned about us losing JT. If I were GWS I would be offering him BIG money.
You have nailed it there. Krakouer acted like a lightning conductor for us with the Gold Coast, and diverted the strike away from Boak/Gray/Sal. Hopefully either of the Motlops will do the same for us with GWS. Carn Choco, one last gesture for Port.

Supposedly GWs has already signed a player or two!

Maybe Daniel is the man, that would be grand.

I hope too that JT signs very, very early.

GWS won't confirm Mark Williams has signed
Media reports say Williams has signed a three-year deal with GWS which enters the AFL in 2012.

But the club would not confirm or deny the news.

They won't deny it so isn't that conformation? :p

.... Williams has been in Sydney talking with the Giants for the past fortnight ....
Must have been a clone of Choco I saw having coffee at the Bay with Pauline and Isabelle earlier this week.

Because none of them wanted him.

Article in the Tiser today states that GWS will announce Choco's appointment as senior assistant coach today.

Does anyone have an idea of what that means for any payout from Port? My understanding is that it might have been finalised when he left and the amount was a "commercially responsible" figure. I recall his manager saying that obviously he wouldn't be receiving the full amount he would have earnt had he stayed.

We'll have to pay him whatever we were going to pay him next year minus whatever GWS are paying him next year. If they're paying him the same or more as what we were going to, then we won't have to pay a cent.
You say that with a great deal of certainty but I don't have any confidence you are in possession of the facts. :p

Are you sure? Most situations I've heard of 'in the real world', the person takes his contract payout and can do whatever he wants and nothing gets deducted depending on the job he gets after leaving (although it depends on what he signed at severance).

What you are talking about is what occurs with AFL playes being delisted and then rookied by another club but that might have something to do with AFLPA rules ??

The only thing I don't like about Choco's appointment is the fact I think GWS will sign a relatively good player from us.

Remembering unlike Gold Coast they have a two year period to sign uncontracted players!

I am so paranoid, I hope we stitch Jackson up very early this season, I almost don't care who else we lose as long as we keep action Jackson.

Yep we will be finding out exactly how much our players loved Choco.
