Why are people using the hamstring blunder as an excuse for rozee's pathetic efforts as captain of this club?

His two injuries were about as minor and stock standard in this game as it gets. A minor hamstring strain and a sprained ankle, hardly a player of the game that hasn't suffered either of those injuries.

Neither of those injuries should have long lasting effects at all, he should be fine. If those injuries have rattled him then we might be dealing with a weaker individual than first thought.

Jesus, imagine if he got the Petracca injury, he would probably retire on the spot and demand his 8 years paid out in full.

This 'hurt my feelings' garbage has been permeating from the club for years & Ken has played a major role in enabling this. Boak was also a leader in this regard. Do the players understand this is elite level football with elite level wages & therefore we should get elite level resilience. It's not U5s at the local park.

We have a frightening number of fans on socials who are like this too.

• “They’re trying their best!”
• “They’re human beings!”
• “Ken deserves respect!”

Obviously outright abuse is offside, but there’s no shortage of human shields prepared to martyr themselves on grenades like “he doesn’t know what he’s doing”, or, “player x was pathetic today”.

Chuck in the matey/blokey/we can’t say anything negative about anyone because “mental health” schlock in media, and within 10 years it’ll be like primary school sport.

I could put my body on the line and give max effort too, I would do it for half of what he’s paid. Doesn’t mean I should be getting a game at port

99.9% of times when mcintee is involved in a chain of possessions it breaks down. It’s at the point where we almost need to make sure we play through whatever side of the field he’s not on. Just a massive momentum killer.
Whilst a bit exaggerated this is fundamentally true. I think he had 8-10 possessions and at least half ended up with the opposition getting the ball - the worse of course was the running too far HTB. He is also getting less reliable with shooting for goals. I guess we should be thankful he doesn't get the ball more.

It is like when you play in a social netball/basketball/futsal team and you get someone's mate who is filling in to make up the numbers but has never played before and every time they get the ball they stuff it up. You end up putting them somewhere they can just block space/harass the oppo but hopefully don't really get the ball too much. That is basically what we have done with McEntee. Evans and Williams use it a bit better but are they are like the fill-ins who are so unfit they can't impact the game at all and just sort of get in the way and it is like playing one down.

Port just currently have too many of these types at the moment which makes it hard to be competitive. I think the years of using draft picks between 20-40 to bring in players - Fantasia, Rat, Watts, Sweet, Soldo (probably others) has really ended up weakening our bottom end. At the time people think the trade is worth the risk because it is only pick 35 or whatever but that pick 35 might end up being a reasonable bottom six player 4 years down the track.

Of course good players like Rozee and butters or Marshall playing better will make more impact particularly against weak teams like GWS.

To be ultimately competitive we need our good players playing better and better bottom end players.

you can shit on the recurits of Esava and BZT and yes admittedly they haven't worked out anywhere near as well as what we would've liked, Esava was diabolical yesterday. However, if we didn't get these guys in our backline would be even more of a disaster. Mckenzie has basically been out the whole year, and Clurey is absolutely useless, and then what else a couple young untried players in McCallum and Marshall that are a long way off it and probably won't make it.

You can absolutely see why we did those trades, yeah it was desperate but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Disappointing performance by both teams. Too many easy shots for goals spudded. Better team won. Willams at least has clean hands and kick. Riolli missed.

The decision to send Bassett packing and replace him with Tyson Goldsack at a time when we’re integrating two big captures (in terms of outlay/salary moreso than ability) feeds into this.

Between Hinkley and his horrendous forward press that leaves our plodders vulnerable over the back and extra-exposed in 1-on-1’s, and his bargain basement lieutenants, the back six are set up to fail.

Bassett definitely wasn't the problem.

And as I said he's been a defender for the best part of 18 months
Rat looks like he should be the ultimate footballer but just plays dumb. I think that chest mark a meter behind the goal line a few weeks ago sums him up in one play. He seems to have no understanding of the flow of the game which is why he takes so many poor decisions.

In fairness to him, he has essentially been in and out for 6 weeks now which really interrupts his rhythm - regardless of how minor the injury is. It will take another week or two to really get going.

The best defences are predictable to each other. Player A knows what player B will do, and positions themselves accordingly. Rat is entirely unpredictable which is causing a lot of chaos for everyone else back there. He's got all the tools, but not the smarts. Can he develop into a top defender? Possibly, he's only been in defence for a short period of time in his career.

I've really liked BZT, his defending is excellent most of the time, and he gives his all. Biggest issue with him is i'm always scared when he has the ball in hand, worried he will do something silly.

Two new Key position players will always take a while to gel in, regardless of who the coach is. They actually started off really well as a unit, but has been chaotic of late.

In protest (for one I wanted to cancel 1 of 2 memberships at the start of the year but never heard back from the club, as well as the obvious reasons) I have been avoiding my monthly installments for the last few payments, the club called me today and left a message saying ‘they want to get me on a payment plan to get me to the next home game’

How’s the timing after dishing up what we watched yesterday.

Sure, but giving the defence to a rookie assistant over someone generally considered a defensive specialist was a typically cute move by this regime.

Out inability to deal with criticism (internal and external) is a massive part of the problem.

The real Port Adelaide would laugh at the banner and say "see you in finals **** head".

This Port Adelaide just cries in the corner.

On SM-G975F using BigFooty.com mobile app

The last time I can recall "that Port Adelaide" was after Troy Chaplin did his aeroplane and Boak said post game he hoped they were enjoying their season (at the bottom of the ladder) - and then Port absolutely smashed the shit out of them in the elimination final a few weeks later.

Now, their response is to simply bend over.

There is no plan, no moves, no motivation. Stinkers is just going through the motions. Just excuses.

The board must act ASAP.

Every week that goes by, this team is being ruined, and Carr is being tarnished by the stench hanging over Alberton.

Warren - call an emergency board meeting and end this farce now.

Watching the GWS game in the 2nd half today, the words of our most successful player - not necessarily best, but 9 premierships makes him our most successful - kept flooding the front of my mind.

After his retirement Motley said: “We played on the basis that we could not possibly let down the followers of the Port Adelaide Football Club - the greatest gift we could give them was a premiership.”

Our current players and coaches, maybe even admin, just don't think like this anymore.

Sure our players make some great efforts to engage with fans for photos, sign merchandise, chat to people at functions, but how much do the fans really mean to them? The guys who played for Port pre AFL lived in the local area, be they born and bred there, or were recruited from the bush, or from around Oz. They spent their lives in and around our fans.

Now players are sheltered from fans. They come from all over Oz and bugger all live in the heartland and have to deal with the hard core supporters, who in the old days used to keep them accountable. Same with the coaches.

Sure all VFL clubs have had to go thru this change as the draft brings in players from all over Oz. Some have kept the old traditional connections, some haven't, some lost it and had to rebuild it.

Can't say the players didn't try today, but they played with a lack of real hunger and real desire.

They let down the followers of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Hopefully one of Mots proteges, has a big hand in changing the current status quo soon.
Once ken got his contract extended the air started going out of the balloon.

The intensity, fitness levels and skills have all slowly declined.

The players play for comfort and lifestyle not for port adelaide.

we’re going no where fast.

Last year's trades are looking diabolical. None of them look like improvements on existing personnel in their positions. Looking increasingly like desperate trades designed to make it look like they were doing something rather than actually improving our list.

Are they diabolical because the players are simply not up to scratch? Or do they look bad because they're playing in a system that simply does not play to their strengths?

I'm not sure even prime Matty Scarlett and Mal Michael would cope in Ken's defensive system.

our players are the worst coached in the league and to me it shows fairly obviously, they are just blatantly scared and confused by superior systems being played out in front of them
