I think the good thing too about the WA mids if it does turn out we pick them up, is that they complement each other. Ginbey is a bull, Hewett more balanced and Allen outside. We’d have a pretty decent mix when you add them to Culley, Hough and Chesser.

Humphries or Phillipou give our team a genuine point of difference though, they are a lot more unique than the others and have GENUINE explosiveness and forward craft on top of being good balanced midfielders.

Wouldn’t mind them at all either.

Humphrey is from Moe, not only is it a bit of a hike from Melbourne, but most people try to get out of there rather than want to head back there.

Phillipou from Adelaide and we have very good retention records for south Australians.

I don't think go-home will be the deciding factor whether we select either of these guys or not

Humphries seems like he’d be thrilled to go interstate in his interview, he said he was impressed by Sydney and Port’s pitch to him for what that’s worth, he seems like a very loyal guy.

I’d back us to keep Phillipou and just about any interstate kid, our retention rate is great

More I think about it the happier I am that we split the pick.

If we were to nab Humphrey/Phillipou and Hewett/Ginbey. Possibly a Horton/Hustwaite later on.

Culley
O’Neil
Chesser
Hough
Phillipou/Humphrey
Hewett/Ginbey
Hotton/Hustwaite

Is a ****ing good young group.

I think O’Neil will be a Redden level role player, Culleys floor the same but potential to develop into Matt Kennedy type, Chesser could honestly be anything, Hough looks silk.

If we have two of the latter 4 reach top 50 player in the comp level then the midfield is set for the next 8 years.

Of course they could also all flop and we have Culley and O’Neil leading our midfield for a few years but the potential is certainly exciting.

Bazzo Edwards Cole
Jones ???? Duggan
Hough Culley Chesser
Petch Allen ????
Waterman ???? B.Williams
???? Phillipou Hewett
Int: O’Neil, Hustwaite

With: Jamieson, L.Edwards, SPS, Foley, Rotham, J.Williams

Being outside chances of filling a role (likely 1-2 at best imo).

That’s the start of a decent under 25 team with the majority being under 23.

I would definitely look at targeting a KPP for next draft or Keeler if he slipped through to 26.

With 3-5 years of Yeo, Kelly and Sheed, in addition to those above, I wonder if we will pick 2 midfielders this year.

Then again Yeo, Chesser, Hough aren't strictly midfielders and I'd rather be putting midfielders at half back than the other way around.

I mean both wouldn’t hurt, Allan has the potential to be absolutely elite.

If we were wanting to take him though I’d be looking at Keeler at 20 over Hustwaite/Hotton.
Why does Allan have the potential to be Elite? Size + Speed doesn't always equal top level talent if you don't have the nous.

* Hotton

* Allan

Maybe, it’s easier to teach a kid how to footballer than turn a footballer into an athlete imo.

With the game developing the way it is I see it becoming very difficult to be an elite mid without incredible physical attributes in 3-5 years time.
