Anyone getting any Pavlich vibes from Phillipou? Seems like he is going to be a unit, that 6'4"-ish height and can run through the midfield or up forward.

Maybe I am just reading too much into the crow-eating Woodville-West Torrens thing?

No he’s a long way off Pavlich and hasn’t been much good at the champs imo ..

I know that The Pieman just loves to bank rucks and let them develop. Our current stocks are thin - in 2023, NicNat turns 33 and B Williams and Jamieson turn 23. I think he will be tempted to draft someone this year.

Option is to go this year or possibly wait for Edwards and go early n 2023 or use one of our second rounders as there are a bunch of good talls including rucks in 2023

Prospects this year:-

Max Knobel – 205 cm, 86 kg
Gippsland (Maffra so not close to Melbourne) and a leftie which is a real advantage in the ruck
Still learning the ruck craft and would be a project. Showed more as the carnival and NAB cup went on. Can also play KPF

Pheonix Foster – 196 cm 85 kg
Norwood (Wudinna so half way between Adelaide and Ceduna)
Kicked 21 goals in the SANFL Colts – more a KPF who chops out in the ruck

Harry Barnett – 202 cm, 92 kg
West Adelaide ruck who also goes forward and his strength is getting his mids first use to advantage and his follow up

Jackson Broadbent – 201 cm, 100kg
After a great 2021, he was disappointing in 2022. Had another growth spurt and suffered from shin splints. He has the talent, can he dedicate enough to build his endurance and how badly was he impacted with his shins. Also having to cope school in Collie and training in Mandurah – 3 hours travel 3 times a week!!

I expect Barnett to be in and around the 20's so a pick at 20 or 26 for us is on the money.

The others are will be available late meaning we pick them up with our current pick 78 which will be around 55 to 60 on the night.

So if we were to go into the draft with our current hand, no trades no swaps ect who would you pick?. Need to be realistic with pick positions and who would be available

I’ll go first looking forward to be pulled apart lol

pick 2 : Wardlaw
pick 20: Isaac Keeler….reckon Bailey might be gonsky so good upgrade
pick 26 : Kobe Ryan
Pick 38:Edward Allen
7th sept

Big call early by myself on Allen raised a few eye brows at the time (pats myself on the back)

I was off point on Bailey so apologies big fella 😬

Bit concerning he doesn’t know the name of the player he bases his game on, or maybe he likes a bit of Jamie cripps and Jack crisp😂

Assuming it's Cripps, we're definitely picking Ginbey.

That would be music to WC's ears.

There is no more beloved player than Cripps by the match committee nor defended more often by the players.

Does Ginbey have a tank? Could use another hard runner with ticker.

We will let you know in 5 years.

He does indeed, top10 in the 2 k time trial
So he can run out the first quarter:moustache:
What were the yoyo/beep results like?
Noticed at the champs he dropped off for long periods whether that's just the other team getting on top or fitness is hard to say.

I don’t have all the exacts of the combine.

One thing I did notice in the EP v EF Colts game was that he finished the game strongly and ran the game out.

Something was off with WA in the champs this year. The team looked great at times and crap moments later. I only watched on the TV which only gives part of the picture. Too easy to miss players not picking up their opponent, getting caught out ahead of the game, etc

Oh well, hope to see more games live next year

Sweet.

If we pick up a couple of WA boys who end up guns we can look forward to Caro Wilson's article on us "hiding players", "draft tampering" and "should the AFL pay for Victorian Clubs to house full time scouts interstate?"

Ed Allan has grown on me. His breakaway speed and agility seem to stand out for someone his size. Not sure where he goes in the draft but would say the way Twomey is talking him up he'd be in contention for our 3rd pick as Cal seems to have some inside knowledge when he makes his rankings. Burgiel is the other one that I really want with our 3rd or 4th pick. I can see the Pieman jumping on Hewett at our 1st as he'll be worried he won't be there at our 2nd but Ginbey seems a more rounded proposition. .

Locally Darcy Jones would have to be a candidate for our 4th Pick with Steely Green an outside chance. Tyrell Dewar our NGA could be taken as a Rookie.

We need to pick Green straight up just because his name is Steely.

Suns eyeing Ginbey, personally I wouldn’t mind if he went before our pick, I still prefer Phillipou or Humphries at 8

Plenty of good prospects at 8 - if Ginbey gone at 5, then we get Clark or MacKenzie or Hollands ----

This is why we split. There are at least 15 really good prospects and we have 2 picks inside that.

I think even The Pieman will take at least one proven genuine midfielder early this draft

I can’t imagine Geelong not picking up Clark, I know they were linked with Busslinger too though.

I agree we’re in a sweet spot of the draft, I just really want Phillipou or Humphries at 8, their ceilings are the highest in the draft imo.

Hawks may take Clark before the Cats is the media speculation.

Geelong will go Busslinger or Clark if one is there.

Suns I think go Busslinger.

They just traded in Bowes and Bruhn, but have zero young KPD depth on their list.
Rategala ( is old ) and if he moves to the Teal Turds, it leaves the cupboard completely bare.
SDK is an awesome talent but he needs help and the reinforcements are just not there for the Cats so as much as the lure to take the local lad ( Clark ) is, they are a smart Club and the smart decision would be Busslinger.
